第二十七章

SAGITTARIUS.

射手

[1] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 1st degree of Sagittarius will be noble, religious, just, and one on whom the greatest marks of glory are conferred. But if a benefic planet has been found in that very degree, it will make kings or those next to kings, who accomplish everything effectively. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 2nd degree of Sagittarius will be raging, perjured, sacrilegious. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 3rd degree of Sagittarius will lose one eye in some way or other.

〔一〕凡上升点在射手第一度的人，会高贵、敬神、公正，被授予荣耀的最大标记。但倘若一颗吉星就落在那一度，会造就国王或近于国王的人，有效地完成一切。凡上升点在射手第二度的人，会狂暴、发伪誓、亵渎神明。凡上升点在射手第三度的人，会以这样那样的方式失去一只眼。

[2] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 4th degree of Sagittarius will be guardians of tombs. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 5th degree of Sagittarius will be impure, shameless, wretched, and polluted by the stain of base infamy. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 6th degree of Sagittarius will be knock-kneed, with varicose veins in the shins, dying a violent death. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 7th degree of Sagittarius will on that account be just and religious, and one to whom public trials are entrusted, so that he judges on the sentences of others.

〔二〕凡上升点在射手第四度的人，会成为坟墓的看守。凡上升点在射手第五度的人，会不洁、无耻、可怜，被卑贱污名的污点所玷污。凡上升点在射手第六度的人，会两膝内弯，小腿静脉曲张，横死。凡上升点在射手第七度的人，会因此公正而敬神，被托付公共审判，以致审断别人的判决。

[3] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 8th degree of Sagittarius, if Jupiter has been found in that very degree, will be long-lived and religious, and the first among their kin to raise children. They will be interpreters of kings, or master scribes, handling the duties of sacred writings. But with the advance of age marks of happiness will be conferred on them; they will pass away by a good death. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Sagittarius will be astrologers, diviners, inspired men, worshippers of the gods. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 10th degree of Sagittarius will be an athlete, a hoplomachus.

[4] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 11th degree of Sagittarius will die struck down in war. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 12th degree of Sagittarius will be dangerous, rash, and such as approach every crime willingly with a perverse ardor of greed. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 13th degree of Sagittarius [lacuna] possessed by parricidal fury, kills, and he himself will perish by a violent death. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 14th degree of Sagittarius will be singers to the cithara assigned to the public pleasures; they will have a defect in the eye.

[5] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 15th degree of Sagittarius will be an engineer who makes the instruments necessary for wars; he will also die in war. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 16th degree of Sagittarius, if Mars has been found in that very degree, will die pierced by a lance, and a woman will fail in childbirth. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 17th degree of Sagittarius will be athletes; if Mars has borne testimony, hunters; if Jupiter, keepers of horses.

[6] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 18th degree of Sagittarius will be a thief, perjured, malevolent, malignant; he will die without children by a violent death. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 19th degree of Sagittarius will be a pancratiast without children. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 20th degree of Sagittarius will be dwarfs, hunchbacked, ridiculous. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 21st degree of Sagittarius will eat a great deal, and will deny holding other people's property.

[7] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 22nd degree of Sagittarius, if Jupiter has been found in that very degree, will be great and powerful, possessing boundless expanses of land, and men to whom armies of foot and horse are committed. Frequently, too, naval command will be entrusted to them; they will fight many wars, subjugate barbarians, restore some cities and destroy others. They will have wives and children, but their wives will have defects or scars in the necessary places. But these will die in battle in foreign places. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 23rd degree of Sagittarius will die by beasts in desert and remote places.

[8] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 24th degree of Sagittarius will be a tamer of horses or a charioteer. But if Jupiter is in that very place, he will be either a muleteer or a royal charioteer, but one who on this account wins the greatest marks of glory. But with Mars bearing witness he will perish by a violent death. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 25th degree of Sagittarius will be a drunkard and a sot, especially if Mars has been found in that very degree. But if Venus has borne testimony, he will be a cinaedus, but one condemned by public infamy; and women will become prostitutes.

[9] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 26th degree of Sagittarius will be polluted by the contagion of vices, and women viragos and prostitutes, given over to every crime of lust. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 27th degree of Sagittarius will die in desert places. But if Mars has been found in that very degree, they will be short-lived and unfortunate, and will die by a blow [text uncertain].

[10] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 28th degree of Sagittarius will be an ass-driver, a muleteer, and one who is entangled in constant labors. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 29th degree of Sagittarius will be a dwarf, hunchbacked, a captive. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 30th degree of Sagittarius will be envious, consumptive, without charm, and their death will be by beasts. But if Mars has been found in that very degree, they will be short-lived and without children.

[11] But if the Ascendant has been found on the last line of Sagittarius, that is, above the tail, potters will be born; but if below the tail, they will be one-eyed, squint-eyed, very swift runners, always subjugated to the powers of others, and they will be troubled by blood. They will have a long face, and will die by a four-footed animal.

〔十一〕但倘若上升点落在射手的最后一线，即在尾巴之上，会生下陶工；但倘若在尾巴之下，他们会独眼、斜眼，是极快的赛跑者，总受别人权力的支配，并受血的困扰。他们会长着长脸，并死于四足兽。

[12] On the right side of Sagittarius rises the ship Argo, on the left the Dog. Whoever, then, have the Ascendant in the ship itself will be ship-masters, helmsmen, merchants, but such as sail to the west. But if Mars has seen this same place, they will be killed by pirates as they return to the east.

[13] Whoever have the Ascendant in the Dog will be litigious and clamorous. But if Mercury has been found in that very place, they will be excellent advocates and friends of kings. But whoever has the Ascendant in the mouth of the Dog will be of a base life and a defiled mouth, but puffed up with an abundance of empty speech.

CAPRICORN.

[1] Whoever has the Ascendant in the first degree of Capricorn will be a king and emperor. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 2nd degree of Capricorn will be drill-masters, and men to whom the disposition of battles is committed. But these will die by a violent death. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 3rd degree of Capricorn, if Mars has been found in that very degree and the Moon is placed with it, will be great and powerful and have the greatest power of the sword, but such as always conduct trials severely and cruelly. They will be cruel, ingenious, always bold, and such as kill many. They will be generals of great armies, but they will die in battle.

[2] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 4th degree of Capricorn, if Mercury has been found in that very degree, it will make musicians or craftsmen, but such as pursue women with perverse loves of lust. They will indeed be negligent. But if the Moon is well placed, it will make noble scribes, but such as are entrusted with the duties of great affairs. They will indeed be rich, just, religious. And these will die long-lived. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 5th degree of Capricorn will be base and impure, given over to every vice of lust.

[3] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 6th degree of Capricorn will be elephantiac. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 7th degree of Capricorn will be careful craftsmen, but such as the nobility of their craftsmanship commends, friends of kings. But in this place physicians too will be born. With the testimony of the malefic planets [lacuna].

[4] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 8th degree of Capricorn, if Venus has been found in that very degree, will have the marks of the greatest nobility. But if the Moon is well placed, doing many things, they will handle all the offices of trade; others will be set over the public revenues. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Capricorn, if Mars has been found in that very degree, will die in their first period of life. But if Mercury has borne testimony, they will be rich moneylenders, but they will die on account of money.

[5] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 10th degree of Capricorn, if Mars has been found in that very degree, it will make adulterers, but with a lovable grace of charm. These will corrupt the wives of their friends with a perverse craving of love, yet, never caught in this crime, they are not exposed. To them the greatest means of life will be conferred from some craft, but they will obtain wives known for adultery. They will die by a sudden death. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 11th degree of Capricorn will be a goldsmith. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 12th degree of Capricorn will be an athlete of great strength, dying a violent death.

[6] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 13th degree of Capricorn, if Mars has been found in that very degree, will be such as approach every crime of cruelty for the sake of gain. But they will be Marsians selling poisons, who rear serpents with the stings of their venom lulled. Through these many will die; they will be perjurers, adulterators, adulterers, wicked, malicious, or go-betweens of lusts. These will sweetly utter the measures of songs with a thin voice, deceiving all men with a feigned simplicity, oriputri [text uncertain], clamorous, men who obtain joy neither from wife nor from children. But with the advance of age they will limp in their feet. And these will have the means of life from commerce or from the public purse.

They will indeed be negligent, and such as delight in very many banquets. But if Mercury has been found in that very place, advanced by a recommendation within the household, they will come to the notice and friendship of kings. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 15th degree of Capricorn will be dwarfs, hunchbacked, ridiculous.

[8] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 16th degree of Capricorn will have six fingers and will be hunchbacked. Whoever have the Ascendant at the junction of the spine and the neck, with Mars placed there and the Moon bearing testimony and joined by a good aspect, will be noble, long-lived, parents of noble children, friends of kings. They will perish by a violent death. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 17th degree of Capricorn will die by the prick of a spine.

[9] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 18th degree of Capricorn, if Mars, Venus, and Mercury have been placed in the same degree or in the same sign, will kill their wives, but they too will themselves be punished by public punishment. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 19th degree of Capricorn, if Mercury has been found in that very degree, will be a scribe always devoted to royal duties. He will die in wet places, or will perish devoured by beasts.

[10] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 20th degree of Capricorn will be devoted to documents and to the pursuits of the forum. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 21st degree of Capricorn will be noble, a friend of kings, and one on whom much is conferred from imperial largess, lovable to the people (but these marks of rank will be conferred on him in the middle span of his life), quick to indignation, exercising his indignation with the greatest force of power. But misfortunes will come to him from the fall of his children. He will die by his own death. [11] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 24th degree of Capricorn will be of languid mind and languid senses, and such as are frequently assailed by insanity. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 25th degree of Capricorn will die devoured by beasts. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 26th degree of Capricorn will be a pantomime conspicuous for a pleasing charm. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 27th degree of Capricorn will be just and powerful, judging on the sentences of other judges, friends of kings. But for them the greatest hardships of grief are decreed from the misfortunes of their children. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 28th degree of Capricorn [lacuna]

[12] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 29th degree of Capricorn will be a cruel tyrant, armed for every crime, dangerous, rash, but one on whom death is inflicted by the hands of the multitude. [lacuna]
