第二十二章

CANCER.

巨蟹

[1] Whoever have the Ascendant between the eyes of Cancer will be blind or one-eyed. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 1st degree of Cancer, with the Moon placed in the same degree, will be noble merchants; with Saturn casting its rays, sailors, fishermen, shopkeepers, innkeepers, and men practicing things like these, always cheap and ignoble. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 2nd degree of Cancer will be conspicuous for excessive power and nobility, violent men who possess another's substance with factious greed. They will indeed travel on endless journeys; but they will die by a sudden death.

〔一〕凡上升点在巨蟹两眼之间的人，会失明或独眼。凡上升点在巨蟹第一度的人，月亮落在同一度，会成为高贵的商人；有土星投射光线，则成为水手、渔夫、店主、客栈老板，以及从事诸如此类事情的人，总是低贱而不体面。凡上升点在巨蟹第二度的人，会以过度的权力与高贵而显眼，是以结党的贪婪占有别人家业的强横之人。他们确实会作无尽的旅行；但他们会猝死。

[2] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 3rd degree of Cancer will be hard-working merchants who do not stay in one place. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 4th degree of Cancer always attack their enemies in every way, and always become superior in every contest. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 5th degree of Cancer, their eyes will be infected with wounds from stones. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 6th degree of Cancer, their eyes will always be turned with a squinting gaze.

〔二〕凡上升点在巨蟹第三度的人，会成为不在一处久留的勤劳商人。凡上升点在巨蟹第四度的人，总以各种方式攻击他们的敌人，在每一场争斗中总占上风。凡上升点在巨蟹第五度的人，眼睛会被石头所伤而感染。凡上升点在巨蟹第六度的人，眼睛总会斜视。

[3] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 7th degree of Cancer will have swellings on the head. But if the Moon is moving toward the Ascendant, they will be cunning and impious. But if Mars has aspected the Moon and the Ascendant by some aspect, practicing robbery, they rage with cruel ferocity. But these are either raised upon a cross, or they will perish by public punishment.

〔三〕凡上升点在巨蟹第七度的人，头上会有肿块。但倘若月亮行向上升点，他们会狡猾而不敬神。但倘若火星以某种相位照着月亮与上升点，他们会行抢劫，以残酷的凶暴肆虐。但这些人或被举上十字架，或受公开的刑罚而死。

[4] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 8th degree of Cancer will be blind. This degree is between the eyes of Cancer. In the 4th degree is the cloud of which we have very often spoken. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Cancer will be sailors and helmsmen, who steer ships over every sea with the control of an expert skill. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 10th degree of Cancer will accomplish everything by an effective manner of life. [lacuna]

[5] Those, however, who are born in the 25th degree of Cancer, with the Moon present or lending her rays, will be advanced with every happiness. But they will defile themselves with debaucheries and adulteries, men whose youth is praised but whose later life is defamed. This degree decrees this same thing in the nativities of women. [lacuna]

〔五〕然而生在巨蟹第二十五度的人，有月亮在场或借给她的光线，会被擢升而享尽一切幸福。但他们会以荒淫与通奸玷污自己，是青年时受称赞、晚年却遭非议的人。这一度在女人的本命里判定同样的事。〔此处原文有缺〕

第二十三章

LEO.

狮子

[1] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 1st degree of Leo will be pimps with hoarse voice, oriputi [text uncertain]. This is brought about in like manner in those degrees too which are in the mouth. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 2nd degree of Leo will be powerful kings. But whenever Mars or Saturn comes to this same place, grave contests of war are stirred up for them. In this degree is the clear star of which we spoke in the preceding chapters.

〔一〕凡上升点在狮子第一度的人，会成为嗓音嘶哑的皮条客、奥里普提〔原文疑有讹误〕。在嘴里的那些度数，也以同样的方式造成这事。凡上升点在狮子第二度的人，会成为有权势的国王。但每当火星或土星来到这同一个位置，严重的战争争斗就会为他们而起。在这一度有我们在前几章说过的那颗清亮的星。

[2] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 3rd degree of Leo will be a king possessing a double kingdom, joining many provinces to the powers of his strength. And in this degree too this same star shows its rays. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 4th degree of Leo will be a hunter. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 5th degree of Leo will be a master or an anointer of athletes. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 6th degree of Leo will be born an athlete.

[3] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 7th degree of Leo will be a hymn-writer. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 8th degree of Leo will be famous and noble through some skill, if the benefic planets [probably: aspect this place by any aspect. But if the malefic planets] [lacuna] have done this same thing, they will be cinaedi and pantomimes, and women will be prostitutes, who sell their chastity in the passive commerce of lusts.

[4] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Leo will be midwives, rearing other people's children. But if the Moon is in the Ascendant, waxing in light, with the benefic planets bearing witness, they will rear the children of kings or of powerful men. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 10th degree of Leo will be a noble general, an archer. But if Mars has seen the Ascendant and the Moon, they will be gladiators. [lacuna]

〔四〕凡上升点在狮子第九度的人，会成为接生婆，抚养别人的孩子。但倘若月亮在上升点，光在盈，有吉星作见证，他们会抚养国王或有权势者的孩子。凡上升点在狮子第十度的人，会成为高贵的将军、射手。但倘若火星看见上升点与月亮，他们会成为角斗士。〔此处原文有缺〕

XXIV.

第二十四章

VIRGO.

处女

[1] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 1st degree of Virgo, if the Moon is full in light, or if she bears favorable testimony to the Ascendant, will be conspicuous for great nobility; afterwards he will be with a king or with a queen, having made his way in by the merit of his learning, and he will have very many in his power. But if Mars casts its rays on this place, he will be a cinaedus. And he will die in wet places. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th degree of Virgo will be handsome priests, prophets, haruspices, conspicuous for great nobility, religious, powerful, bearing the greatest marks of divinity.

〔一〕凡上升点在处女第一度的人，倘若月亮满光，或她给上升点顺遂的见证，会以极大的高贵而显眼；后来他会凭学识的功绩打通门路，侍奉国王或王后，并把极多的人握在他的权力之下。但倘若火星把光线投在这个位置，他会成为娈宠。他还会死在潮湿之地。凡上升点在处女第二、三、四、五或六度的人，会成为俊美的祭司、先知、脏卜师，以极大的高贵而显眼，敬神，有权势，带着神性的最大标记。

[2] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 7th degree of Virgo, with the Moon waxing or placed in the Ascendant, will be priests, haruspices, divine, religious, powerful, always crushing their adversaries with the highest authority. But if Jupiter and Mars cast their rays on this same place, they will be generals, but such as lose the army they lead against the barbarians. But if Mercury has borne testimony, they will be overseers of treasuries and moneylenders.

〔二〕凡上升点在处女第七度的人，月亮在盈或落在上升点，会成为祭司、脏卜师，神圣、敬神、有权势，总以最高的权威压倒对手。但倘若木星与火星把光线投在这同一个位置，他们会成为将军，却是会丧失所率领去讨伐蛮族的军队的将军。但倘若水星作了见证，他们会成为国库的督管人与放债人。

[3] But whenever Saturn comes to this place, they will be placed in great want. If Jupiter alone is in this place, all the marks of happiness are decreed. If the Moon, waxing in light, has lent her rays to Jupiter, the faithful bond of friendship will join them to powerful men by the merit of their beauty. But if Venus is in that very place, it will make women prostitutes. But if the Ascendant is directly under Spica, they will be bakers, but such as hold the leadership among their colleagues. But if the Ascendant is next to Spica, they will be unfortunate, poor, and wretched.

〔三〕但每当土星来到这个位置，他们会陷入极大的匮乏。倘若唯独木星在这个位置，就判定幸福的一切标记。倘若光在盈的月亮把光线借给木星，忠实的友谊纽带会凭他们的美貌把他们与有权势的人连在一起。但倘若金星就在那个位置，会使女人成为娼妓。但倘若上升点就在角宿一的正下方，他们会成为面包师，但却是在同行中居首的。但倘若上升点紧挨着角宿一，他们会不幸、贫穷、可怜。

[4] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 8th degree of Virgo, that is, in Spica itself, will be religious and just, conspicuous for magnificent nobility, adorned with abundant riches, and such as rejoice in a happy offspring of children. But these will die at an advanced age. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Virgo will be wrestlers, but such as win the distinction of crowns in all contests. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 10th degree of Virgo will be robbers, always unclean with unbridled greed.

〔四〕凡上升点在处女第八度、即在角宿一本身的人，会敬神而公正，以宏大的高贵而显眼，装点着丰厚的财富，以子女的幸福后代而欢喜。但这些人会在高龄死去。凡上升点在处女第九度的人，会成为摔角手，却在一切竞赛中赢得冠冕的殊荣。凡上升点在处女第十度的人，会成为强盗，总因不受约束的贪婪而污秽。

[5] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 11th degree of Virgo will be an athlete, but one who wins the marks of glorious nobility, rich and the husband of rich women; but he will die by a violent death. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 12th degree of Virgo will be just and religious, carrying off the greatest marks of rank. They will be prophets and priests. They will be governors either of great temples or of cities or of provinces. And the trials of the peoples will frequently be entrusted to them. But they will have the greatest griefs from the misfortunes of their children.

〔五〕凡上升点在处女第十一度的人，会成为运动员，却赢得荣耀高贵的标记，富有，是富家女子的丈夫；但他会横死。凡上升点在处女第十二度的人，会公正而敬神，取得官阶的最大标记。他们会成为先知与祭司。他们会成为大神庙、或城市、或行省的长官。民众的审判也常会托付给他们。但他们会因子女的不幸而有极大的悲痛。

[6] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 13th degree of Virgo will be singers to the cithara or hymn-writers. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 14th degree of Virgo will be musicians. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 15th degree of Virgo will be elegant men who often pursue intercourse with maidens. They will have a defect in the thigh, and blood congealed by vicious humors will frequently trouble them. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 16th degree of Virgo will be great men, handling many affairs. But they will die by a violent death.

〔六〕凡上升点在处女第十三度的人，会成为弹基塔拉琴的歌者或颂歌作者。凡上升点在处女第十四度的人，会成为乐师。凡上升点在处女第十五度的人，会是风雅的人，常追求与少女交合。他们大腿会有缺损，被恶性体液凝结的血常会困扰他们。凡上升点在处女第十六度的人，会成为大人物，经手许多事务。但他们会横死。

[7] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 17th degree of Virgo will be a gladiator assigned to the public pleasures. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 18th degree of Virgo will be blessed and foremost priests, learned, friends of kings, and such as are always loved by women. But if Mars is in that very degree, or in the setting of the degree, they will be punished by a public death on account of a woman.

〔七〕凡上升点在处女第十七度的人，会成为被派给公众取乐的角斗士。凡上升点在处女第十八度的人，会成为有福的首席祭司，有学识，是国王的朋友，总为女人所爱。但倘若火星就在那一度，或在那一度的降落处，他们会因一个女人而受公开的死刑。

[8] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 19th degree of Virgo will be an architect, a builder of walls, or a marble worker. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 20th degree of Virgo will be musicians, singers to the cithara, singing songs with a sweet melody of voice. But these will belong to the clientage of patrons, always procuring favor of affection for themselves by their services. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 21st degree of Virgo, that is, in the end of the foot, will be men who involve themselves in very many kinds of business. And trials will frequently be entrusted to them. Some will seek the friendship of judges.

〔八〕凡上升点在处女第十九度的人，会成为建筑师、筑墙匠或大理石工匠。凡上升点在处女第二十度的人，会成为乐师、弹基塔拉琴的歌者，以甜美的嗓音旋律唱歌。但这些人会属于恩主的门客，总以自己的服务为自己求得情分的恩宠。凡上升点在处女第二十一度、即在足末端的人，会是卷入极多种事务的人。审判也常会托付给他们。有些人会求取法官的友谊。

[9] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 22nd degree of Virgo [lacuna]. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 30th degree of Virgo, which degree is on the last line, will be assailed by a daemon. But if Mars is either in that very degree or in the setting of the degree, they will be captured by pirates and killed at sea.
