第十六章

AQUARIUS.

宝瓶

[1] In the 12th degree of Aquarius rises the Eagle. Whoever are born at the rising of this star will have the means of life from the slaughter of men and from spoils. They will also capture wild beasts and tame them as well. They will moreover be brave soldiers, by whose valor and protection the fearful onsets of wars are lulled. They will indeed be of such valor that they pursue the enemy with bare breast, so that they believe it redounds favorably to their praise if they have despised death with untroubled boldness [text uncertain].

〔一〕在宝瓶的第十二度升起天鹰座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会从杀人与战利品中得到生活之资。他们也会捕捉野兽，并把它们驯服。他们还会是勇敢的士兵，凭他们的勇武与护卫，战争可怕的冲击得以平息。他们确实会勇武到袒露胸膛追击敌人，以致他们相信，倘若以不受扰乱的大胆蔑视死亡，就会有利于他们的赞誉〔原文疑有讹误〕。

[2] But if the benefic planets aspect this place with a favorable aspect, they will free their fatherland, they will also found other cities, and they will triumph over nations conquered or subjugated. But if Mars or Saturn aspects this place, it will make commanders, tribunes, ministers of emperors, or attendants of kings, and men to whom the care of the empire or the custody of arms is entrusted. But if this star has been found at the setting, it will make those born be suffocated.

〔二〕但倘若吉星以顺遂的相位照着这个位置，他们会解放祖国，也会建立别的城市，并战胜被征服或被降服的民族而举行凯旋。但倘若火星或土星照着这个位置，会造就统帅、军团长、皇帝的辅臣或国王的侍从，以及被托付帝国照管或武器看管的人。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，会使出生的人窒息而死。

[3] In the 20th degree of Aquarius rises Cassiopeia. Those who are born when it is rising will be goldsmiths, gold-leaf beaters, gilders, inlayers, pearl dealers, practicing all these arts with ingenious application. From these arts they will have very great means of life. But if this star has been found at the setting, those who are born will either perish in a collapse or die by being slain.

〔三〕在宝瓶的第二十度升起仙后座。生在它升起时的人，会成为金匠、打金箔的、镀金匠、镶嵌匠、珍珠商，以巧妙的用心从事这一切技艺。他们会从这些技艺中得到极丰厚的生活之资。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，出生的人或死于倒塌，或被杀而死。

PISCES.

双鱼

[1] In the 12th degree of Pisces rises Andromeda. Whoever is born when this star is rising will always rage against men with cruel ferocity. He will be either an attendant of public punishments, or a keeper of a prison, or an executioner to whom the duties of killing men are entrusted.

〔一〕在双鱼的第十二度升起仙女座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，总会以残酷的凶暴对人肆虐。他会成为公开刑罚的执行助手，或监狱看守，或被托付杀人职务的刽子手。

[2] But if a benefic planet joined with the malefics sees this same place, it makes overseers of workhouses or of mines. But if this star has been found at the setting, and the malefic planets aspect this place, they will make them be thrown to wild beasts or raised upon a cross. But if, the malefics being so arranged, the favor of the benefic planets is added, they will make them be given over to the gladiatorial school, or bound in perpetual fetters of chains.

〔二〕但倘若一颗吉星与凶星相结看见这同一个位置，会造就劳役所或矿坑的监工。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，而凶星照着这个位置，它们会使他们被投给野兽，或被举上十字架。但倘若凶星这样排列，又加上吉星的恩宠，它们会使他们被送进角斗士学校，或被永久的锁链镣铐束缚。

[3] In the 21st degree of Pisces rises the Horse. Whoever are born when this star is rising will moreover be inquisitive [text uncertain], charioteers, drivers, horsemen, couriers, scouts, sometimes physicians, but such as compound cures for men and cattle from herbs. But if this star is at the setting with the malefic planets, he will be cared for after the stroke of a kick or after being thrown [text uncertain], or it will make them perish by an overturned vehicle, shattered by a wretched laceration of the body.

〔三〕在双鱼的第二十一度升起马座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，还会好打听〔原文疑有讹误〕，成为驾车手、车夫、骑手、信使、斥候，有时是医生，但却是用草药为人与牲畜配制疗方的。但倘若这颗星与凶星同在降落处，他会在被踢或被摔之后受人照料〔原文疑有讹误〕，或使他们因车辆翻倒而死，身体惨遭撕裂粉碎。

[4] In the last degrees of Pisces rises the Kneeler, who is called Engonasin by the Greeks. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be shrewd, crafty, equipped with various wiles, liars who attack men with various snares, and who always rage with unbridled boldness. With the testimony of Mars and the Moon they will be rope-walkers, climbers (oribatae), cord-dancers. Those who are born when this star is setting will be endangered by various plots. If Mars aspects this place, they will be burned alive.

〔四〕在双鱼的最后几度升起跪者座，希腊人称之为恩戈纳辛。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会精明、狡猾，备有种种诡计，是以种种圈套攻击人的说谎者，总以不受约束的大胆肆虐。有火星与月亮的见证，他们会成为走绳者、攀高者、绳上舞者。生在这颗星降落时的人，会受种种阴谋危害。倘若火星照着这个位置，他们会被活活烧死。

[5] In the last degrees of Pisces, on the left side, rises the Sea-Monster, which is called Cetus by the Greeks. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be fishermen, but of great fish. For they will catch seals, sea-dogs, swordfish, tunny and crocodiles. They will also have occupations which come from salt or from salted fish and from fish sauce, and they will trade in these. But if this star is at the setting, and Mars aspects this place, while swimming in a river or in the sea they will be devoured by crocodiles or by sea-dogs and beasts of this kind.

〔五〕在双鱼的最后几度，在左侧，升起海怪，希腊人称之为刻托斯。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会成为渔夫，但捕的是大鱼。因为他们会捕海豹、海狗、剑鱼、金枪鱼与鳄鱼。他们也会有来自盐、咸鱼与鱼酱的营生，并经营这些东西。但倘若这颗星在降落处，而火星照着这个位置，他们在河里或海里游泳时，会被鳄鱼或海狗这类野兽吞食。

The Septentrion.

北斗

[6] When the Septentrion rises, which is between Pisces and Aries, that is, between the beginning and the end of the world, which, fixed in one place and set at the very summit of the world, has turned the axis of the world with perpetual swiftness: whoever, then, are born when this sign is rising will be tamers of wild beasts, that is, men who, their ferocity laid aside, bring bears or bulls or lions into companionship with human ways. But if the Septentrion has been found at the setting, with Mars bearing witness, they will perish by wild beasts.

〔六〕当北斗升起时——它在双鱼与白羊之间，即在世界的开端与终结之间，它固定在一处，安在世界的最顶端，以永久的迅疾转动世界的轴——凡生在这个星座升起时的人，会成为驯兽者，即使熊、公牛或狮子放下凶性、与人的生活方式结伴的人。但倘若北斗落在降落处，又有火星作见证，他们会死于野兽。

[7] The last is the Serpent, which, placed between the two Bears, glides in winding coils like a river. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be Marsians, or men accustomed to prepare healing remedies from poisons and the drugs of herbs. But if this star has been found at the setting, they will perish struck by the bite of serpents, or at any rate by drinking poison.

〔七〕最后是巨蛇，它安在两熊之间，像河流一样以蜿蜒的盘曲滑行。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会成为马尔西人，或惯于用毒物与草药配制治病之方的人。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，他们会被蛇咬而死，或至少因喝下毒药而死。

[8] Lygnus too belongs to the region of this sign. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be discoverers of metals, who track the hidden veins of gold and silver and of the other kinds by skillful searches. They will also be mint workers. But if this star has been found at the setting, and Mars is in that very place, or in opposition or in square, they will either be burned up when their house is set on fire, or be consumed by avenging flames by public sentence.

〔八〕吕格努斯也属于这个星座的区域。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会成为金属的发现者，以熟练的搜寻追踪金、银及其他各类隐藏的矿脉。他们也会成为造币工人。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，而火星就在那个位置，或成对冲或四分，他们或在房屋被纵火时烧死，或由公开的判决被复仇的火焰吞没。

[9] We ought also to know this: that if at the hour in which the birth is completed there has been either an earthquake or thunder in the sky, whoever is born will always be unsteady, with trembling body, one who, with doubtful gait and trembling steps, at every moment of the hours expects and fears the collapse of the roofs overhanging him.

〔九〕我们还该知道这一点：倘若在出生完成的那个时辰，有地震或天上有雷鸣，凡出生的人总会不稳，身体颤抖，以迟疑的步态和颤抖的脚步，在每一时每一刻都等着并害怕头上的屋顶倒塌。

[10] His eyes will flicker, and with burning gaze they shudder at everything; nor do his words keep a fixed order, but the hampered sound of his voice hisses out a trembling murmur, or, his throat constricted, the words always fail at the very moment of coming out. They will always think that it is thundering, that the earth is always moving, that everything is always collapsing, and, driven by falling delusions, they will lose the order of right conduct.

〔十〕他的眼睛会闪烁，以灼热的目光对一切都战栗；他的话也不保持固定的次序，而是受阻的嗓音嘶嘶地发出颤抖的低语，或者喉咙紧缩，话总在要出口的那一刻说不出来。他们总会以为在打雷，大地总在动，一切总在倒塌，被坠落的幻觉驱使，失去正当行为的次序。

[11] These, Mavortius, our glory, are the principles of the barbarian sphere; this is the teaching of the Chaldaean work.

XVIII.

第十八章

[1] Now I shall transfer the whole treatise to the following degrees of the barbarian sphere, which in some measure imitates the Myriogenesis. For whatever the Myriogenesis declares about individual minutes, this we shall do about individual degrees. The gnomon of the Ascendant, therefore, must be set exactly, so that the true degree, gathered by skillful computation, may cause the effect to be brought forth in a faithful declaration. But if otherwise, everything that has been promised is overshadowed by faults and falsehoods. Now, therefore, beginning from Aries, we shall set forth the powers of the individual degrees and their effects according to the barbarian sphere.

〔一〕现在我要把全部论述转到蛮族天球接下来的度数，它在某种程度上模仿《万命书》。因为《万命书》就各分所宣告的，我们要就各度来做。所以，上升点的晷针必须精确地设定，好让以熟练计算求得的真实度数，使效应以忠实的宣告产生出来。否则，所许诺的一切都会被错误与虚假所遮蔽。所以现在，从白羊开始，我们要按照蛮族天球陈述各度的力量与它们的效应。

XIX.

第十九章

ARIES.

白羊

[1] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 1st degree of Aries, if the ray of the benefic planets is present, kings and generals will be born, always leading an army with success. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 2nd degree of Aries will be insolent thieves and men who always rage with perverse fury, transferring their domicile to foreign regions. But if, the Ascendant being placed in this degree, Mars has given testimony, and sees the Moon from square or from opposition, when the aforesaid crimes are detected they are punished by public punishment.

〔一〕凡上升点在白羊第一度的人，倘若有吉星的光线，会生为国王与将军，总能带领军队获胜。凡上升点在白羊第二度的人，会成为傲慢的窃贼，总以乖戾的狂暴肆虐，把居所迁往外邦。但倘若上升点落在这一度，火星给了见证，又从四分或对冲看见月亮，前述的罪行被察觉时，他们会受公开的刑罚。

[2] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 3rd degree of Aries will be deaf, one-eyed, overcome by a dull stupor of foolishness. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 4th degree of Aries will be thieves who are killed when caught in that crime. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 5th degree of Aries will be set over a great people, will judge on the greatest matters, and will be placed over all his kin by the merit of his rank. He will be just, upright, sober, one who guards the ancestral religions with the greatest veneration. And, adorned with every praise of goodness, he will die by his own death.

〔二〕凡上升点在白羊第三度的人，会耳聋、独眼，被愚钝迟滞的麻木所压倒。凡上升点在白羊第四度的人，会成为窃贼，在犯这罪被抓时被杀。凡上升点在白羊第五度的人，会被派去管辖一大群人民，审断最重大的事，凭官阶的功绩居于全族之上。他会公正、正直、节制，以最大的敬畏守护祖先的宗教。他装点着善的一切赞誉，会自然而死。

[3] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 6th degree of Aries will be a friend of kings and of powerful men of the highest judges, adorned with the illustrious insignia of rank, and bearing about him all the ornaments of glory. One will be commended by the merits of some art, another will be set over military offices. But these die by their own death. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 7th degree of Aries will, with the testimony of Jupiter, be an athlete, but with the testimony of Mars, hunchbacked and dying a violent death.

〔三〕凡上升点在白羊第六度的人，会是国王与最高法官中有权势者的朋友，装点着官阶显赫的徽章，周身带着荣耀的一切饰物。有的会因某种技艺的功绩受称誉，有的会被派去主持军职。但这些人会自然而死。凡上升点在白羊第七度的人，有木星的见证会成为运动员，但有火星的见证则驼背、横死。

[4] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 8th degree of Aries will, with the testimony of the malefic planets, be athletes, but such as the merits of illustrious feats ennoble. But these, after many distinctions, perish by a violent death. But if the ray of the benefic planets is present to this degree, they will be seers, displaying in their mind the greatest marks of divinity. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 9th degree of Aries will die by a violent death while still in early life.

〔四〕凡上升点在白羊第八度的人，有凶星的见证会成为运动员，却是显赫的功绩使之高贵的运动员。但这些人在许多殊荣之后，以横死死去。但倘若这一度有吉星的光线，他们会成为预言者，在心中显出神性的最大标记。凡上升点在白羊第九度的人，会在人生初期就横死。

[5] Whoever have the Ascendant in the 10th degree of Aries will be faithless, irreligious, perjured, but these, oppressed by various ailments of defects, will die in early life. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 11th degree of Aries, with Jupiter either placed in the same degree or joined by a partile trine aspect, will be powerful, displaying the insignia of magnificent rank, one whom the faithful bond of friendship joins to kings or powerful men, rich, abounding, possessing great expanses of lands and estates, a famous general heaped with every honor of rank, and adorned with favorable testimonies of fame. But he will die by his own death.

〔五〕凡上升点在白羊第十度的人，会不守信义、不敬神、发伪誓，但这些人被种种缺损之病所压，会在人生初期死去。凡上升点在白羊第十一度的人，木星或落在同一度、或以精确到度的三分相结，他会有权势，显出宏大官阶的徽章，忠实的友谊纽带把他与国王或有权势的人连在一起，富有、充裕，拥有大片土地与田产，是堆满官阶一切荣誉的著名将军，装点着名声的顺遂见证。但他会自然而死。

[6] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 12th degree of Aries, with Jupiter and Venus placed in that very degree with the testimony of the Moon, or if the Moon aspects this same degree with a trine aspect, will be distinguished, adorned with the splendor of nobility, rich, and one on whom all the insignia of rank are easily conferred; he will die long-lived. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 13th degree of Aries will be sterile, men to whom the offspring they long for is always denied. But these will die in middle age.

〔六〕凡上升点在白羊第十二度的人，木星与金星就落在那一度，又有月亮的见证，或月亮以三分照着这同一度，他会显赫，装点着高贵的光彩，富有，官阶的一切徽章都容易加给他；他会长寿而死。凡上升点在白羊第十三度的人，会不育，是总得不到所渴望子嗣的人。但这些人会死于中年。

[7] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 14th degree of Aries will be a merchant, but furnished with abundant riches, a moneylender gathering great resources of riches from the public banks, known to all and always conspicuous. This place will also make weavers, or men who handle wool and purple; they will die old. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 15th degree of Aries will be polluted by the shameless stain of lusts, and always bound by impure vices, a cinaedus condemned by public infamy. But if it is a woman, a like lust of impurity will strike her.

〔七〕凡上升点在白羊第十四度的人，会成为商人，却拥有丰厚的财富，是从公共钱庄聚集大量财源的放债人，为众人所知，总是显眼。这个位置也造就织工，或经营羊毛与紫色染料的人；他们会老死。凡上升点在白羊第十五度的人，会被情欲无耻的污点所玷污，总被不洁的恶习所缚，是受公众污名谴责的娈宠。倘若是女人，同样不洁的情欲会打击她。

[8] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 16th degree of Aries will be tormented by constant pains of the intestines, and torn by these he will die. But if it is a woman, she will fulfill the last duty of life in childbirth. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 17th degree of Aries will be a fowler, a hunter, or a keeper of birds or of wild beasts. But if the testimony of Mars is added to the Ascendant, he will be torn by wild beasts or by dogs and will die.

〔八〕凡上升点在白羊第十六度的人，会受不断的肠痛折磨，被它撕扯而死。倘若是女人，她会在分娩中尽完生命的最后职分。凡上升点在白羊第十七度的人，会成为捕鸟人、猎人，或鸟或野兽的看管人。但倘若上升点加上火星的见证，他会被野兽或狗撕裂而死。

[9] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 18th degree of Aries will be a muleteer or a herder of mules, but he will perish struck by a small creature, that is, by a venomous spider or a shrew or a scorpion. But if Mars aspects the Ascendant with a threatening aspect, he will die eaten by a wolf. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 19th degree of Aries will die placed on the very threshold of life.

〔九〕凡上升点在白羊第十八度的人，会成为赶骡人或牧骡人，但他会被小动物击中而死，即毒蜘蛛、鼩鼱或蝎子。但倘若火星以带威胁的相位照着上升点，他会被狼吃掉而死。凡上升点在白羊第十九度的人，会就在生命的门槛上死去。

[10] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 20th, 21st and 22nd degrees of Aries, if the favorable testimony of Jupiter is added to that degree, or Jupiter is placed in that very degree, will be rich, adorned with many and illustrious offspring of children, or fortified by the protection of many brothers. And the faithful merits of friendship will join this same man to kings or powerful men. He will be a worshipper of the gods, adorned with every praise of goodness, good, benevolent, just, long-lived, happy in old age, and one who dies by his own death.

〔十〕凡上升点在白羊第二十、二十一、二十二度的人，倘若那一度加上木星顺遂的见证，或木星就落在那一度，会富有，装点着众多而显赫的子嗣，或得许多兄弟的护卫。友谊忠实的情分也会把这同一个人与国王或有权势的人连在一起。他会是敬神的人，装点着善的一切赞誉，善良、仁慈、公正、长寿，晚年幸福，自然而死。

[11] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 23rd degree of Aries will be scrofulous, possessed by an ulcerated stain of blotches, or at any rate elephantiac. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 24th degree of Aries [lacuna]. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 25th degree of Aries will be a goldsmith, a gold-leaf beater, or a marble worker or the like. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 26th degree of Aries will be so timid that at every moment of the hours he takes fright at empty suspicions.

〔十一〕凡上升点在白羊第二十三度的人，会患瘰疬，被溃烂的斑疹所占据，或至少患象皮病。凡上升点在白羊第二十四度的人〔此处原文有缺〕。凡上升点在白羊第二十五度的人，会成为金匠、打金箔的，或大理石工匠之类。凡上升点在白羊第二十六度的人，会胆怯到每一时每一刻都因空洞的猜疑而受惊。

[12] Whoever has the Ascendant in the 27th degree of Aries will be a wool worker, a silk worker, a weaver. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 28th degree of Aries will always clean latrines and sewers, or will be condemned to public works by the sentence of a judge. Whoever has the Ascendant in the 29th degree of Aries will be a barber. Whoever have the Ascendant in the 30th degree of Aries, that is, in the very end of the tail, will be insane, epileptic, frenzied, short-lived.

〔十二〕凡上升点在白羊第二十七度的人，会成为毛纺工、丝织工、织工。凡上升点在白羊第二十八度的人，总会清扫厕所与阴沟，或被法官的判决罚做公共劳役。凡上升点在白羊第二十九度的人，会成为理发匠。凡上升点在白羊第三十度的人，即在尾巴的最末端，会疯癫、患癫痫、狂乱、短命。
