XI.

第十一章

VIRGO.

处女

[1] In the 5th degree of Virgo rises the Crown. Whoever is born when this star is rising will be occupied with the various pleasures of luxuries, devoted to the pursuits of womanly arts, a deviser of flowers and garlands, and one who clings to the pleasant delights of gardens, desiring scents, perfumes and spices with eager craving, cultivating his body with the allurement of beauty; he secretly practices debauchery and adulteries, but hastens with an eager boldness of lust toward intercourse with beautiful virgins and boys.

〔一〕在处女的第五度升起北冕座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会忙于奢华的种种享乐，热衷于女子的技艺，是花朵与花环的设计者，依恋园圃怡人的乐趣，以热切的渴求想要香气、香膏与香料，以美的诱惑修饰自己的身体；他暗中行荒淫与通奸，却以情欲的热切大胆，急于与美貌的少女和少年交合。

[2] But if this star has been found at the setting, and either Saturn is in that place, or from another place aspects this same degree with a threatening aspect, or other malefic planets do the same, they decree the end of death, or cut him off in early youth. For they make him, struck down by public punishment and cast out unburied, be torn apart by the bites of wild beasts or of dogs or of birds.

〔二〕但倘若这颗星落在降落处，而土星或在那个位置，或从别的位置以带威胁的相位照着这同一度，或其他凶星这样做，它们会判定死亡的结局，或在少年初期就把他截断。因为它们使他受公开的刑罚打倒，不得埋葬地被抛弃，被野兽、狗或鸟的咬噬撕散。

[3] In the sign of Virgo, in the 10th degree, rises Spica. Whoever is born at the rising of Spica will always be devoted to rural duties and bound to the cultivation of the fields with patience in labor, and one who year by year brings forth new crops from new seed; for the support of life he will store up much grain in granaries. According to the testimony of the other planets it also makes bakers, confectioners and the like.

〔三〕在处女座里，在第十度，升起角宿一。凡生在角宿一升起时的人，总会热衷于农事，以劳作的耐心系于田地的耕作，年年以新的种子生出新的庄稼；为维持生计，他会在粮仓里储存许多谷物。按其他行星的见证，它也造就面包师、糕点师之类。

[4] But if this star has been found at the setting, they will be troubled either by excessive heat of summer, or by the straits of garrisons, or by an attack. But if Saturn aspects this place with a threatening aspect, it will make the one who is born be weighed down by the wretched burden of poverty, so that throughout the whole span of his life he is naked, in badly hanging rags; and it leads him to the last day of his life begging for food from the support of public pity, so that he fulfills the debt owed to life with torment of mind and body alike.

〔四〕但倘若这颗星落在降落处，他们会受夏日过度的炎热所扰，或受驻防的困窘所扰，或受攻击所扰。但倘若土星以带威胁的相位照着这个位置，会使出生的人受贫穷可怜的重担所压，以致他终生赤身，穿着破烂垂挂的衣服；并引他直到生命的最后一日，靠公众怜悯的接济乞食，以致他在身心同受折磨中偿还欠生命的债。

[5] But if Mars aspects this place, on account of the grain supply being intercepted, or badly administered, or withdrawn by fraudulent greed, the rage of a maddened populace will tear him to pieces, assailed by grave ill will, and, torn by the hands of the people, his limbs display fearful examples of bitter death.

〔五〕但倘若火星照着这个位置，由于粮食供应被截断、或管理不善、或被欺诈的贪婪挪走，发狂的民众的怒火会把他撕成碎片，他受沉重的憎恶侵袭，被民众的手撕裂，他的肢体展示出痛苦死亡的可怕榜样。

第十二章

LIBRA.

天秤

[1] In the sign of Libra, in the 8th degree, rises the Arrow. Whoever is born in this sign will be a shooter of arrows, who strikes flying birds with a special control of skill, or who fearlessly spears fish with a trident or a point amid the very expanses of the waves. But if this star is at the setting, and the benefics together with the malefics aspect this same place with an equal aspect, placed in the army and set in the battle line, amid the bitter heaps of the enemy, bloody with the boundless blood of the enemy, they themselves too die, slain by the hand of the enemy.

〔一〕在天秤座里，在第八度，升起天箭座。凡生在这个星座的人，会成为射箭者，以特别的技巧控制射中飞鸟，或在波浪的广阔水面之间，无畏地以三叉戟或尖矛刺鱼。但倘若这颗星在降落处，而吉星与凶星以同等的相位照着这同一个位置，他们被安置在军中、列在战阵里，在敌人惨烈的尸堆之间，沾满敌人无边的鲜血，自己也被敌人之手所杀而死。

[2] But if Mars alone, with Mercury bearing witness, sees this place, or if it is in that very place, it makes such men as sell themselves, for the sake of another's favor, to the spectacle of death at the cost of their bartered blood. But if Saturn does this, they are consigned to the gladiatorial school by the sentence of a judge. In this degree the Styx is said to be, that is, there is no doubt that the earth is the Styx [text uncertain]. They shudder in mind, fearing the heavenly things as an example, which, having fallen from heaven, is applied to the support of earthly bodies [text uncertain].

〔二〕但倘若只有火星，在水星作见证之下，看见这个位置，或者就在那个位置，会造就这样的人：为了别人的欢心，以出卖的鲜血为代价，把自己卖给死亡的表演。但倘若土星这样做，他们会被法官的判决送入角斗士学校。据说冥河斯提克斯就在这一度，即大地就是斯提克斯，这是毫无疑问的〔原文疑有讹误〕。他们心中战栗，以天上之物为榜样而畏惧，那从天上落下、被用来支撑尘世身体的东西〔原文疑有讹误〕。

[3] In the 15th degree of Libra rises the Kid. Whoever is born when this sign is rising will always be of changeable mind and anxious counsel, one who, entangled in various thoughts, never enjoys the favor of quiet security. He will also be assigned to the service of magistrates, a scribe, a keeper of records, handling the duties of the public revenues, but bound by lascivious habits and the perverse cravings of love, given to wine and feasts, and one who prefers the pleasure of banquets to public affairs, apt for dancing, and learning thoroughly the arts of the stage with eager zeal.

〔三〕在天秤的第十五度升起小山羊。凡生在这个星座升起时的人，心思总是多变，筹谋焦虑，缠在种种思虑里，从不享有安宁的恩惠。他也会被派去侍奉官员，做书记、档案管理人，处理公共税收的职务，却被淫逸的习性与乖僻的恋爱渴求所缚，沉溺于酒与宴饮，宁取宴会之乐而舍公务，善于跳舞，以热切的心学透舞台的技艺。

[4] But if this sign has been found at the setting, and the malefic planets aspect this place with a threatening aspect, they are either hurled down precipices and so perish, or, performing leaps, they are broken by the fall of their suspended body in a wretched misfortune of death; or, pursuing intercourse with girls in the blind night and possessed by an excessive ardor of impatience, making their way through unknown places, or lying in wait on a roof for husbands to fall asleep, they die by a headlong fall. But if the benefic planets see it, they die short of breath.

〔四〕但倘若这个星座落在降落处，而凶星以带威胁的相位照着这个位置，他们或被抛下悬崖而死，或在表演跳跃时，因悬空的身体坠落而摔断，遭可怜的死亡之祸；或在漆黑的夜里追逐与少女交合，被过度急切的热情所占据，穿行陌生的地方，或在屋顶上埋伏，等着丈夫们入睡，失足坠落而死。但倘若吉星看见它，他们会死于气短。

XIII.

第十三章

SCORPIO.

天蝎

[1] In the 1st degree of Scorpio rises the Altar. Whoever are born when this star is rising will, with the testimony of the benefic planets, be priests, prophets, temple-wardens, high priests of some most holy religion, explaining certain divine arts with studious interpretations.

〔一〕在天蝎的第一度升起祭坛座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，有吉星的见证，会成为祭司、先知、神庙看守，成为某种至圣宗教的大祭司，以勤勉的解释阐明某些神圣的技艺。

[2] But if this star is at the setting, and Mars or Saturn aspects this same place with a threatening aspect, they will be punished by public punishment for some sacrilege. But if the testimony of Jupiter is added to these, either sacrificed to the gods or slain on account of some religion, they are consecrated with everlasting ceremonies.

〔二〕但倘若这颗星在降落处，而火星或土星以带威胁的相位照着这同一个位置，他们会因某种亵渎而受公开的刑罚。但倘若再加上木星的见证，他们或被献祭给神，或因某种宗教而被杀，以永久的仪礼被奉为神圣。

[3] In the 12th degree of Scorpio rises the Centaur. Whoever is born when it is rising will be either a charioteer, or a breeder and keeper of horses, or at any rate a trainer or a mule doctor, or at any rate a groom of the stud. But if Mars aspects this place with a favorable aspect, it will make him serve among the cavalry. But if Mercury sees this place, it will make herbalists, who keep herbs gathered with skillful art for the cure of ailing cattle.

〔三〕在天蝎的第十二度升起半人马座。凡生在它升起时的人，会成为驾车手，或马的饲养者与看管者，或至少是驯马师或骡医，或至少是种马场的马夫。但倘若火星以顺遂的相位照着这个位置，会使他在骑兵中服役。但倘若水星看见这个位置，会造就草药师，他们以熟练的技艺保存采集来的草药，用以医治患病的牲畜。

[4] But if this star is at the setting, and the malefic planets aspect this place, he will die either thrown from a height, or by the charge of a four-footed animal, or by the kick of a horse, or thrown from a horse; or, his chariot overturned and the horses dragging him, he will be torn apart by a wretched death.

〔四〕但倘若这颗星在降落处，而凶星照着这个位置，他会或从高处被抛下而死，或被四足兽冲撞而死，或被马踢死，或从马上被摔下；或者战车翻倒，马拖着他，被惨死撕裂。

XIV.

第十四章

SAGITTARIUS.

射手

[1] In the sign of Sagittarius, in the 5th degree, rises Arcturus. Whoever is born when this sign is rising will be such as to guard the secrets of his friends with faithful silence. To him royal wealth will be entrusted, or the treasury of the people, or public buildings. But if the malefic planets aspect this place, either the care of the people will be entrusted to them, or they become doorkeepers of the royal palace, or men to whom the duties of admitting and of greeting in the palace are entrusted.

〔一〕在射手座里，在第五度，升起大角。凡生在这个星座升起时的人，会是以忠实的沉默守护朋友秘密的人。王家的财富会托付给他，或人民的国库，或公共建筑。但倘若凶星照着这个位置，或者人民的照管会托付给他们，或者他们成为王宫的看门人，或被托付在宫中引见与问安之职的人。

[2] But if this star has been found at the setting, and Saturn with Mercury aspects this place by any aspect whatever, it will make them assailed by the odium of a grave charge, handed over to the public prison, and perish bound in chains with wretched torments.

〔二〕但倘若这颗星落在降落处，而土星连同水星以无论什么相位照着这个位置，会使他们受重大控告的憎恶侵袭，被交付公共监狱，戴着锁链在可怜的折磨中死去。

[3] In the 10th degree of Sagittarius rises the Swan. Whoever is born when this star is rising will either catch birds, or trade in birds, or by ingenious study instill into birds the sound of the human voice, or zealously rear wood pigeons. But if this star has been found at the setting, while they are procuring for themselves the support of means from the protection of others, they are weighed down by enemies with the burden of captivity, or they are punished by public punishment on account of thefts of spoils.

〔三〕在射手的第十度升起天鹅座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会捕鸟，或贩鸟，或以巧妙的钻研教鸟学人的声音，或热心饲养斑尾林鸽。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，他们在从别人的庇护中为自己谋取生计时，会被敌人以被俘的重担压住，或因窃取战利品而受公开的刑罚。

XV.

第十五章

CAPRICORN.

摩羯

[1] In the first degrees of Capricorn rises Ophiuchus. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be Marsians, who tame pestilent snakes, their stings lulled and soothed. But if this star has been found at the setting, and Mars aspects this place by any aspect whatever, they die by the bite of a venomous serpent.

〔一〕在摩羯的最初几度升起蛇夫座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会成为马尔西人，使致命的蛇驯服，令它们的毒刺麻痹平息。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，而火星以无论什么相位照着这个位置，他们会被毒蛇咬死。

[2] In the 8th degree of Capricorn rises the Dolphin. Whoever is born when this star is rising will have a zeal for swimming, but with the testimony of Saturn he will be a diver, and with that of Mars and Mercury, aerial performers, vaulters, dancing wrestlers, springboard acrobats, or at any rate sailors conspicuous for agility in running. But if this star has been found at the setting, and Saturn aspects this place with a threatening aspect, he will be drowned in the sea or in a river by storms and whirlwinds.

〔二〕在摩羯的第八度升起海豚座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会热衷于游泳，但有土星的见证，他会成为潜水者；有火星与水星的见证，会成为空中表演者、跳跃者、跳舞的摔角者、跳板杂技者，或至少是以奔跑敏捷而显眼的水手。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，而土星以带威胁的相位照着这个位置，他会因风暴与旋风溺死在海里或河里。

[3] In the 10th degree of Capricorn rises the Lyre. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be eager for the just and the right, fit for every duty of equity, avengers of crimes, to whom public trials and criminal inquiries are entrusted. But if Saturn aspects this place by any aspect whatever, they will be torturers and executioners, who pursue evil men with an eager zeal of craving. But if this star has been found at the setting, they will perish torn by public tortures, or burned by fire, or racked by lawful examination under torture, especially if Mars or Saturn aspects this place.

〔三〕在摩羯的第十度升起天琴座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会热衷于公正与正义，适于一切公平的职分，是罪行的报复者，被托付公共审判与刑事侦讯。但倘若土星以无论什么相位照着这个位置，他们会成为施刑者与刽子手，以热切的渴求追捕恶人。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，他们会被公开的酷刑撕裂而死，或被火烧死，或在依法的刑讯中受拷问，尤其倘若火星或土星照着这个位置。

[4] In the 15th degree of Capricorn rises Cepheus. Whoever are born when this star is rising will be grave, austere, to be feared for every authority of severity, always composing their countenance from the integrity of their character, men who follow the Stoic school with genuine feeling. Such among the ancients were the Catos; such in our own times is Tullianus, who by the merit of his severity has also attained the insignia of the ordinary consulship.

〔四〕在摩羯的第十五度升起仙王座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会庄重、严峻，因严厉的一切威严而令人畏惧，总以品格的正直端正自己的容貌，是真心追随斯多亚学派的人。古人中的加图们就是这样；我们这个时代的图利亚努斯也是这样，他凭严正的功绩，也得到了正任执政官的徽章。

[5] But if Venus and Mercury bear witness in this place, they always either read or compose songs in the tragic art. But if this star has been found at the setting, they will die by a wretched destruction of the body on crags on which they had once been in peril; or, as soon as they are born, they will perish; or they are punished by public punishment on account of incest, so that the end of a novel and unheard-of death is brought upon them.

〔五〕但倘若金星与水星在这个位置作见证，他们总会阅读或创作悲剧艺术的诗歌。但倘若这颗星落在降落处，他们会在曾经遇险的山崖上，身体惨遭毁坏而死；或一出生就死去；或因乱伦而受公开的刑罚，以致新奇的、闻所未闻的死亡结局降到他们身上。
