第七章

TAURUS.

金牛

[1] In the 6th degree of Taurus are found the Pleiades. If any are born when they are rising, they are always entangled in luxurious and lascivious pleasures. Smeared with perfumes and given to excessive drinking, they are always lifted up by the vices of wantonness, so that at banquets and in the company of men they lash the vices of others with the wit of bitter speech. They will indeed be inclined to every crime of lust, and accustomed to stir laughter in men with the biting sayings of salty speech.

〔一〕在金牛的第六度见到昴星团。倘若有人生在它们升起时，他们总缠在奢靡淫逸的享乐里。他们涂抹香膏，嗜饮过度，总被放荡的恶习抬高，以致在宴席与男人的聚会中，以尖刻言辞的机锋鞭挞别人的恶习。他们确实会倾向情欲的一切罪行，惯于用辛辣言谈的刻薄妙语引人发笑。

[2] They will always be sleek, with polished brow, and showy in elaborate garments; their curled hair is always twisted into ringlets, so that, often adding the hair of others, they feign a contrived and composed beauty, softening the form of the whole body with various kinds of cosmetics. With their hair plucked out, they will transform their body into the likeness of a woman's body, and their garments too are fashioned to resemble womanly dress. Walking softly, they hold their steps poised with a certain dainty restraint.

〔二〕他们总是光鲜，额头修得光洁，穿着讲究的衣裳招摇；卷曲的头发总扭成发卷，常常添上别人的头发，装出一种刻意修饰的美，用种种脂粉柔化全身的形貌。他们拔去体毛，把身体变成女人身体的模样，衣裳也做得像女装。他们走路轻柔，以一种娇气的拘谨收着步子。

[3] But ambition spurs them on, and they seek this disease so eagerly that they think manly worth and the greatest joy of happiness accrue to them from it. They will always love, or pretend to love, and they will regret that they were born men. If a malefic planet strikes this place with a strong aspect, they are overwhelmed by sudden blindness.

〔三〕但虚荣驱策着他们，他们如此热切地追求这种病，以为男子的价值与幸福的最大喜悦都由此而来。他们总会恋爱，或假装恋爱，并且懊悔自己生为男人。倘若一颗凶星以强有力的相位打击这个位置，他们会被突然的失明所压倒。

[4] When the Pleiades are setting, that is, the 6th degree of Taurus, if this degree has been aspected by the malefics, those who are born will perish by shipwreck. But if the benefics together with the malefics aspect this same place with an equal aspect, a pleasant death will come to them without any lamentation, either from venereal pleasure or from too much food amid feasts and cups.

〔四〕当昴星团在降落处，即金牛的第六度，倘若这一度受凶星照着，出生的人会死于船难。但倘若吉星与凶星以同等的相位一同照着这同一个位置，愉快的死亡会毫无哀伤地来到他们身上，或出于性爱的快乐，或出于宴饮杯盏之间的过食。

[5] If the Ascendant is in the cleft of the hoof of Taurus, and benefics and malefics together aspect this same place equally with an equal aspect, they will make a painter, but one whom this pursuit ennobles with famous honor. But if the malefics alone, without the testimony of the benefic planets, aspect this place with a threatening aspect, famous gladiators will be born, but such as, after many palms and countless victories in this pursuit of combat, die by the threatening sword amid the great applause and favor of the spectators.

〔五〕倘若上升点在金牛蹄的裂缝，而吉星与凶星一同以同等的相位同等地照着这同一个位置，会造就画师，而且是这项追求以显赫的荣誉使之高贵的画师。但倘若只有凶星，没有吉星的见证，以带威胁的相位照着这个位置，就会生下著名的角斗士，却是在这种搏斗的追求中赢得许多棕榈枝、无数胜利之后，在观众的盛大掌声与喝彩中，死于带威胁的剑下。

VIII.

第八章

GEMINI.

双子

[1] In the 7th degree of Gemini rises the Hare. Those who are born when this star is rising will be of such lightness of body that, when they have begun to run, driven by the swiftness of their course they seem to outstrip birds. If Mars aspects this place it makes stadium runners; if the Moon with Mars, boxers and swordsmen; if Mercury, jugglers or ball players; if Venus, pantomimes or mime-actors; but if Venus and Mercury together, they will perfect new arts by a zeal of excessive diligence, especially if Jupiter has assisted these same men, in all the effects we have mentioned, with the favorable testimony of his aspect.

〔一〕在双子的第七度升起兔座。生在这颗星升起时的人，身体会如此轻捷，一开始奔跑，被行进的迅速所驱，似乎能超过飞鸟。倘若火星照着这个位置，会造就竞技场上的赛跑者；倘若月亮与火星，造就拳击手与剑斗士；倘若水星，造就变戏法的或玩球的；倘若金星，造就哑剧演员或滑稽戏演员；但倘若金星与水星同在，他们会以过度勤勉的热心完成新的技艺，尤其倘若木星在我们所说的一切效应中，以他相位的顺遂见证帮助这些人。

[2] But if Saturn sees this place by square or by opposition, it will make runaways, who desert their household gods with an eager zeal of spirit, migrating to distant regions. But if the Hare has been found at the setting and has the rays of the benefic planets, as we said in the preceding effects, the means of life will be sought with great labor. But if only the testimony of the malefic planets is present, they die devoured and torn apart by wild beasts.

〔二〕但倘若土星以四分或对冲看见这个位置，会造就逃亡者，他们以热切的心离弃家中的神祇，迁往遥远的地方。但倘若兔座落在降落处，又有吉星的光线，如我们在前面的效应里所说，生活之资要以大劳苦去求。但倘若只有凶星的见证，他们会被野兽吞噬撕裂而死。

IX.

第九章

CANCER.

巨蟹

[1] In the 1st degree of Cancer rise the Iugulae. Whoever is born when they are rising will be irreligious and faithless, but devoted to every pursuit of hunting. He will take wild beasts in nets, or trap them in pits, or pursue them with various scares and with iron, or with dogs he will search the secret places of the woods in order to take wild beasts. And a woman too, if so born, will pursue these same things in like manner with the spirit of a virago. But it will do this if Mars together with the benefic planets aspects this same place by any aspect whatever.

〔一〕在巨蟹的第一度升起伊乌古莱。凡生在它们升起时的人，会不敬神、不守信义，却热衷于一切狩猎之事。他会以网捕野兽，或以陷坑设陷，或以种种惊吓与铁器追逐，或带着狗搜寻林中的隐秘之处来捕野兽。女人若这样出生，也会以女丈夫的心气同样追逐这些事。但倘若火星连同吉星以无论什么相位照着这同一个位置，它才这样造成。

[2] But if Saturn does the same, they will be devoted to every pursuit of fishing, so that by refined methods of fishing they catch even the monsters of the sea. But if the star we have mentioned is at the setting, and the benefic planets aspect that place, he who is so born will die in his sleep. But if Mars sees this place, he will indeed often incur every danger, but he will have his throat cut in his sleep by a bitter death.

〔二〕但倘若土星这样做，他们会热衷于一切捕鱼之事，以致以精巧的捕鱼方法甚至捕获海中的巨怪。但倘若我们所说的这颗星在降落处，而吉星照着那个位置，这样出生的人会在睡梦中死去。但倘若火星看见这个位置，他固然常常遭遇各种危险，却会在睡梦中被割喉，惨死。

[3] In the 27th degree of Cancer rises Procyon. Those who are born when it is rising will themselves be separated from every pursuit of hunting, but they will either make or supply arms for hunters, that is, nets, hunting spears, arrows, and whatever pertains to the equipment of that pursuit. They will also rear dogs which track the lairs of wild beasts and their hidden hiding places with foreknowing nostrils.

〔三〕在巨蟹的第二十七度升起南河三。生在它升起时的人，自己会远离一切狩猎之事，却会为猎人制造或供应器械，即网、猎矛、箭，以及凡属这项追求的装备。他们也会养狗，这些狗以有预知的鼻子追踪野兽的巢穴与隐藏的藏身之处。

[4] But if this star is at the setting, and Mars aspects this place by a square or opposite aspect, deprived of the favorable testimony of Jupiter, they will perish, torn by the bite of a rabid dog, with a like madness of frenzy, so that, shunning the sight of water and shuddering at every draught from a cup, they dread water while always longing for it with parched throats; or at least, while laying snares for wild beasts, they are torn apart by their bites.

〔四〕但倘若这颗星在降落处，而火星以四分或对冲照着这个位置，没有木星顺遂的见证，他们会被疯狗咬伤，以同样疯狂的狂乱死去，以致躲避水的样子，对杯里的每一口都战栗，喉咙焦干，总渴望着水却又怕水；或者至少在给野兽设陷时被它们咬碎。

第十章

LEO.

狮子

[1] In the 1st degree of Leo rises the Dog Star, which is called Sirius by the Greeks. Whoever are born when this star is rising will apply unbridled spirits to every pursuit of perverse crime. They will also be separated from every grace of humanity, and gladly follow every pursuit of violence: frenzied, wrathful, terrible, threatening, men whom all others both hate and fear alike.

〔一〕在狮子的第一度升起犬星，希腊人称之为塞里乌斯。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会把不受约束的心气用于乖戾罪行的一切追求。他们也会远离人性的一切恩惠，乐于追随一切暴力之事：狂乱、易怒、可怕、带着威胁，是所有别人都既恨又怕的人。

[2] They will also be high-spirited and always puffed up with a wordy flow of speech, and their incautious speech always drives them to every kind of abuse, stirring up new and unheard-of quarrels of lawsuits. Their heart palpitates with frequent agitations, and their voice, from parched throats, imitates the barking of dogs, so that, moved by impulse and fury, they either gnash their teeth or are always sharpening them by grinding.

〔二〕他们也会心气高傲，总因滔滔不绝的言辞而自满，不谨慎的言语总把他们驱向各种辱骂，挑起新奇的、闻所未闻的讼争。他们的心因频繁的激动而悸动，嗓音从焦干的喉咙出来，模仿狗吠，所以被冲动与狂怒所驱，他们或咬牙切齿，或总在磨牙。

[3] But if Mars sees this place, the things we have said grow stronger. These never fear the secret places of the woods, but despise the bites of all wild beasts with eager boldness, and dangers will often be brought upon them both by wild beasts and by fires.

〔三〕但倘若火星看见这个位置，我们所说的这些会更加强烈。这些人从不怕林中的隐秘之处，以热切的大胆蔑视一切野兽的咬噬，野兽与火都常给他们带来危险。

[4] If the malefic planets aspect this place, the Moon also seeing Saturn, there will be born hunters of the arena and parabolani, who fight with wild beasts in the enclosures in the sight of the people. They also become gladiators. They will also be of such swiftness of body that they catch a hare in running.

〔四〕倘若凶星照着这个位置，月亮又看见土星，就会生下竞技场的猎兽者与帕拉波拉尼，他们在民众眼前于围场中与野兽搏斗。他们也成为角斗士。他们的身体也会如此迅捷，奔跑中能捉住野兔。

[5] If this star has been found at the setting, and Mars has either been found in that place or aspects that place with a threatening aspect, it will make them be eaten by wolves, or consumed by dogs or by wild beasts with wretched laceration.

〔五〕倘若这颗星落在降落处，而火星或在那个位置，或以带威胁的相位照着那个位置，会使他们被狼吃掉，或被狗或野兽惨烈地撕裂吞食。

[6] In the 30th degree of Leo rises the Bowl. Whoever is born when this star is rising will love irrigated fields, and will divert springs or streams or rivers from their beds to other places. He will be both a lover and a cultivator of vineyards, and one who grafts fruitful shoots onto unfruitful trees and binds them fast, or who, clipping box trees, shapes them into beasts, or makes green porticoes of vines bent into a circle. He gladly drinks wine without any mixture. But if the ray of the benefic planets has decreed his occupation, he will trade in liquid wares.

〔六〕在狮子的第三十度升起碗座。凡生在这颗星升起时的人，会爱灌溉的田地，把泉水、溪流或河流从河床引到别处。他会是葡萄园的爱好者与耕作者，把能结果的枝条嫁接到不结果的树上并扎紧，或修剪黄杨，把它们剪成野兽的形状，或把葡萄藤弯成圆形做成绿色的柱廊。他乐于饮不掺水的酒。但倘若吉星的光线判定他的职业，他会经营液体的货物。

[7] But if this star has been found at the setting without the testimony of a malefic, he who is born will die in middle age amid feasts and cups. But if the ray of the malefic planets is present, he will die drowned either in a wine jar or in a well, or he will be found dead in a river or lake or marsh or sea, or at any rate in a fishpond or a bathtub.

〔七〕但倘若这颗星落在降落处，没有凶星的见证，出生的人会在中年死于宴饮杯盏之间。但倘若有凶星的光线，他会溺死在酒瓮或井里，或者被发现死在河、湖、沼泽或海里，或者至少死在鱼池或浴盆里。
