第三章

On Twin Births.

论双胞胎的出生

[1] If Jupiter and Mercury, placed together, are situated partilely in the Ascendant, and the Ascendant itself is in a double sign, while the Moon too has been placed in any angle whatever, and the Sun, in the sign in which it is, has another planet applied to it, either the nativity is a twin one, or he who is so born will have twin children.

〔一〕倘若木星与水星同在一处，精确到度地落在上升点，而上升点本身在双体星座，月亮又落在无论哪一个角，太阳在它所在的星座里另有一颗行星入相于它，那么或者这是双胞胎的本命，或者这样出生的人会有双胞胎子女。

[2] This indeed must be observed: that no malefic planet, having become superior, aspects any of these. For if it has aspected one of them, whichever of the twins was conceived first will either die in the birth or will be cast out before its time. And even if the Moon has not been found in the angles nor in a double sign, but Jupiter and Mercury, placed in a double sign as we said before, have been found together in the Ascendant, while the Moon is joined with some planet, or the Sun is, twins will be born.

〔二〕这一点确实必须留意：不可有任何凶星居于上位照着其中任何一颗。因为它若照着其中一颗，双胞胎中先受孕的那一个，或者死在生产之中，或者未到时候就被排出。即使月亮不在诸角，也不在双体星座，只要木星与水星如前所说落在双体星座、一同在上升点，而月亮与某颗行星相结，或太阳与某颗行星相结，也会生下双胞胎。

[3] If the Moon has been found with either Mercury or Jupiter, and the Sun has another planet applied to it, and, placed in double signs, they aspect one another by any aspect whatever; and also if the Ascendant has been found in a double sign and has some planet likewise applied to it, twins will be born.

〔三〕倘若月亮与水星或木星同在，太阳另有一颗行星入相于它，而它们落在双体星座，彼此以无论什么相位相照；又倘若上升点在双体星座，同样有某颗行星入相于它，会生下双胞胎。

[4] And if the Moon has been found in the signs of Jupiter or of Mercury, while Jupiter and Mercury are placed in the Ascendant or in the Descendant of the Ascendant, twins will be born. If the Moon has been found in a double sign, and the Sun, placed in an angle, occupies the 2nd sign from the Moon, or at least, placed with Mercury or with Jupiter, holds a double sign, twins will be born, or they will have twin children.

〔四〕倘若月亮落在木星或水星的星座，而木星与水星落在上升点，或落在上升点对面的下降点，会生下双胞胎。倘若月亮落在双体星座，而太阳落在某个角，占住从月亮起的第二个星座，或者至少与水星或木星同在、占住一个双体星座，会生下双胞胎，或者他们会有双胞胎子女。

[5] But whether they will be born of the masculine or of the feminine kind, we gather by this method. For if, with the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant placed in masculine signs, the testimonies of the masculine planets have come to them, that is, of Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars, males will be born. But if Venus alone has done this same thing, placed in a feminine sign, with the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant placed in feminine signs, twins of the feminine kind [probably: are born. But if a planet does the same placed in a masculine sign,] [lacuna]; and if the feminine planets are joined to the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant in the manner we have described, twins of different sex are begotten [probably: "and feminine planets" continues the condition of the planet in a masculine sign] [text uncertain].

〔五〕至于生下的是男是女，我们用这个方法推知。倘若太阳、月亮与上升点都在阳性星座，而阳性行星即木星、土星与火星的见证来到它们那里，会生下男孩。但倘若只有金星落在阴性星座做了同样的事，而太阳、月亮与上升点都在阴性星座，双胞胎是女性〔推测：。但倘若一颗行星落在阳性星座做同样的事，〕〔此处原文有缺〕；倘若阴性行星以我们所说的方式与太阳、月亮和上升点相结，所生的双胞胎性别不同〔推测：「阴性行星相结」是接着上句阳性星座之星说的〕〔原文疑有讹误〕。

[6] If Mars and Saturn, placed in their own houses, have seen the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant, and no ray of the benefic planets comes to these, they will either be cast out unripe or will perish as soon as they are born. But if, with all these placed as we have said, the ray of both the benefic and the malefic planets comes to them in this way, whichever of the twins comes out first will perish.

〔六〕倘若火星与土星落在自己的庙里，看见太阳、月亮与上升点，而吉星没有一道光线来到它们那里，他们或者未成熟就被排出，或者一出生就夭亡。但倘若这一切都如我们所说落定，而吉星与凶星的光线都以这种方式来到它们那里，双胞胎中先出来的那一个会夭亡。

[7] If the Moon has been found in some angle, namely in a fertile sign, and a benefic planet is placed together with it, while the Ascendant is in a double sign or in a fertile one, or with Jupiter or with Mercury, either three or five will be born. If the lord of the sign in which the place of children is partilely found has been found in a double sign, while the 5th place from the Ascendant is situated in a double sign, and Jupiter or Mercury aspects the Moon, placed in a double sign, by any aspect whatever, or if they have been found with it, twins will be born.

〔七〕倘若月亮落在某个角，即落在多产的星座，又有一颗吉星与它同在，而上升点在双体星座或多产的星座，或与木星或水星同在，会生下三胎或五胎。倘若子女之宫精确到度所在的那个星座的主星落在双体星座，而从上升点起的第五宫也落在双体星座，木星或水星以无论什么相位照着落在双体星座的月亮，或与它同在，会生下双胞胎。

On the Servile Nativity.

论奴隶的本命

[1] If Mars or Saturn aspects the Moon by opposition, or if one aspects it by opposition while the other joins itself to the Moon by a square aspect, a slave will be born, especially if the Moon has been found in the lower Midheaven or in the Descendant. But if Jupiter aspects these, so placed, with a favorable aspect, he will obtain the reward of freedom.

〔一〕倘若火星或土星以对冲照着月亮，或一颗以对冲照它，另一颗以四分的相位与月亮相结，会生下奴隶，尤其是倘若月亮落在天底或下降点。但倘若木星以顺遂的相位照着这样落定的它们，他会得到自由的奖赏。

[2] If the Sun and Mercury have been placed together in the Midheaven, and a malefic planet, placed in the cacodaemon, aspects the Moon by an opposite aspect, he who is born will be passed off as the child of a slave woman. But if Jupiter aspects those we have named with a favorable aspect, he will be passed off as the child of a freeborn woman.

〔二〕倘若太阳与水星同在中天，而一颗落在恶灵之宫的凶星以对冲的相位照着月亮，出生的人会被冒充为女奴所生的孩子。但倘若木星以顺遂的相位照着我们所提到的那些星，他会被冒充为自由妇女所生的孩子。

[3] If the place of Fortune has been found partilely in the sign of a malefic planet, and Mars has been found in this sign, this nativity will be servile. And if Mars, in morning rising, has been found with Saturn in the place mentioned above, he will be an unhappy slave. But if Mars has been found with a benefic planet in the place we have named, it will make fortunate slaves. And also if the place of Fortune has been found partilely in Leo, or in Libra, or in Sagittarius, or in Aquarius, or in Gemini, and Mars has been placed partilely in these same signs, it will make slaves.

〔三〕倘若幸运之宫精确到度落在某颗凶星的星座，而火星也在这个星座，这个本命就是奴隶的本命。倘若火星在晨升之中与土星同在上述位置，他会是不幸的奴隶。但倘若火星与一颗吉星同在我们所说的位置，会造就幸运的奴隶。又倘若幸运之宫精确到度落在狮子、天秤、射手、水瓶或双子，而火星也精确到度落在这些星座，会造就奴隶。

[4] But if the lord of the sign has been found placed with Mars in the same sign, or some other benefic planet, those who have been placed in servile status will obtain the protection of freedom.

〔四〕但倘若那个星座的主星与火星同在这个星座，或有另一颗吉星同在，那些身处奴隶地位的人会得到自由的庇护。

[5] If the Sun and the Moon have been found in the angles, and Mars or Saturn is either placed with them in the angles or aspects them from other angles, with none of the benefic planets placed in the angles, a slave will be born. And also if the Moon has been found in the lower Midheaven or in the Descendant, and Saturn has aspected it from the right square, or Mars sees these same from that same square or from opposition, they will make slaves.

〔五〕倘若太阳与月亮落在诸角，而火星或土星或者与它们同在诸角，或者从别的角照着它们，又没有一颗吉星落在诸角，会生下奴隶。又倘若月亮落在天底或下降点，而土星从右四分照着它，或火星从同一个四分或从对冲看见这些，会造就奴隶。

[6] And also if Saturn aspects partilely the Moon joined to Mars, the Moon being placed, in general, in an angle, it will make slaves; but if no benefic planet has seen this conjunction, it will make slaves toiling and wretched.

〔六〕又倘若土星精确到度照着与火星相结的月亮，而月亮大体上落在某个角，会造就奴隶；倘若没有吉星看见这个会合，会造就劳苦而悲惨的奴隶。

[7] If Mars and Saturn aspect the Moon by an opposite aspect, and no benefic planet has seen the Moon, nor does the Moon join itself to a benefic planet in the same sign, it will make slaves, and such as are estranged from their parents. And also if the Moon is in the lower Midheaven, while Mars aspects the Moon by any aspect whatever, it will make slaves.

〔七〕倘若火星与土星以对冲的相位照着月亮，没有吉星看见月亮，月亮也不在同一个星座与吉星相结，会造就奴隶，而且是与父母疏离的奴隶。又倘若月亮在天底，而火星以无论什么相位照着月亮，会造就奴隶。

[8] If the Sun and the Moon have been found in the 12th place from the Ascendant, or in the 6th, and Saturn lends them testimony in any manner whatever, while the benefic planets do not aspect the Sun and the Moon, they make slaves. And also if the Moon has been found in the lower Midheaven, and Saturn with it, while Mars aspects them by either a square or an opposite aspect, they will make slaves.

〔八〕倘若太阳与月亮落在从上升点起的第十二宫或第六宫，土星以无论什么方式给它们见证，而吉星不照太阳与月亮，它们会造就奴隶。又倘若月亮落在天底，土星与它同在，而火星以四分或对冲照着它们，会造就奴隶。

[9] And also if the Sun has been found in the 12th place from the Ascendant, and the Moon in the succedent of the Ascendant, and no benefic planet is placed in the angles, slaves are born in like manner. And also if the Sun has been found in the 12th place from the Ascendant, and the Moon in the 8th, and no benefic planet aspects them with a favorable aspect, they will make slaves.

〔九〕又倘若太阳落在从上升点起的第十二宫，月亮在上升点的续宫，而没有吉星落在诸角，同样会生下奴隶。又倘若太阳落在从上升点起的第十二宫，月亮在第八宫，而没有吉星以顺遂的相位照着它们，会造就奴隶。

[10] If in a night nativity the Moon has been found in the Midheaven, while the Sun is placed in the 6th place from the Ascendant, and the lords of both signs, that is, of the one in which the Moon is and of the one in which the Sun is, are placed in the 8th place from the Ascendant, they will make slaves.

〔十〕倘若在夜间的本命盘里，月亮落在中天，太阳落在从上升点起的第六宫，而两个星座的主星，即月亮所在星座与太阳所在星座的主星，都落在从上升点起的第八宫，会造就奴隶。

[11] But if the lords of the signs in which the Sun and the Moon are placed have been placed partilely either in the Ascendant or in the Midheaven, the other planets being placed as we said before, a slave will indeed be born, but while still in the first period of life he will obtain the reward of freedom. But if these same lords have been placed in the Ascendant or in the Midheaven, as we said, or in the lower Midheaven or in the Descendant, or in the 5th place from the Ascendant or in the 11th, they will be manumitted later.

〔十一〕但倘若太阳与月亮所在星座的主星精确到度落在上升点或中天，其余行星如前所说落定，生下的固然是奴隶，但他还在人生的第一个时期就会得到自由的奖赏。但倘若这同样的主星如我们所说落在上升点或中天，或在天底或下降点，或在从上升点起的第五宫或第十一宫，他们会较晚才被释放。

[12] If the Sun has been found in the lower Midheaven, while the Moon is placed in the 6th place from the Ascendant, and Jupiter is placed in the Midheaven, while Venus assails either Mars or Saturn, or at least these are placed in the cast-down places, those born slaves will be manumitted. And also if the Sun and the Moon are placed partilely in the 6th place from the Ascendant, while the other planets have been found in the Midheaven, they cause them to be transferred from slavery to freedom.

〔十二〕倘若太阳落在天底，月亮落在从上升点起的第六宫，木星在中天，而金星攻击火星或土星，或至少这两颗落在低陷的宫位，生而为奴的人会被释放。又倘若太阳与月亮精确到度落在从上升点起的第六宫，而其余行星落在中天，它们会使人从奴役转为自由。

[13] If the Moon has been found in the 6th place from the Ascendant, and Mars, placed in the upper parts of the heaven, aspects the Moon by a square aspect, while the lords of the signs in which the Sun and the Moon have been placed are placed in the 3rd place from the Ascendant, and Saturn is placed partilely in the Ascendant, it makes them remain slaves to the last day of life.

〔十三〕倘若月亮落在从上升点起的第六宫，而落在天的上方的火星以四分照着月亮，太阳与月亮所在星座的主星落在从上升点起的第三宫，土星又精确到度落在上升点，就使他们直到生命的最后一天都是奴隶。

[14] If the Moon has been found in the lower Midheaven, while the Sun has been placed with Mars in the Descendant, and Saturn and Jupiter are placed in the 6th place from the Ascendant, or in the 8th, they will make slaves toiling and unhappy, and such as are always weighed down by the burden of slavery. And also if Jupiter has been found with the Sun in the 6th place from the Ascendant, while the Moon has been placed with Mars in the Descendant, and Venus is placed in the lower Midheaven, while Saturn holds the 3rd place from the Ascendant, slaves are born in like manner.

〔十四〕倘若月亮落在天底，太阳与火星同在下降点，而土星与木星落在从上升点起的第六宫或第八宫，会造就劳苦不幸的奴隶，总被奴役的重担压着。又倘若木星与太阳同在从上升点起的第六宫，月亮与火星同在下降点，金星落在天底，土星占住从上升点起的第三宫，同样会生下奴隶。

[15] If Saturn has been found in the 12th place from the Ascendant, while Mars is placed in the succedent of the Ascendant, and the Moon is placed partilely in the Ascendant, while Jupiter is placed in the 8th place from the Ascendant and the Sun is placed in the 3rd place from the Ascendant, slaves are begotten in like manner. If Mars has been placed in its fall, that is, in the sign in which it is depressed, and the Moon, diminished in light, is moving toward it, while Saturn is placed in the 3rd place from the Ascendant, and the Sun is placed in the lower Midheaven, and the benefic planets are placed in the 6th place, it will make unhappy slaves.

〔十五〕倘若土星落在从上升点起的第十二宫，火星在上升点的续宫，月亮精确到度在上升点，木星在从上升点起的第八宫，太阳在从上升点起的第三宫，同样会生下奴隶。倘若火星落在它的落，即它所低落的那个星座，而光亏的月亮正趋向它，土星落在从上升点起的第三宫，太阳在天底，吉星在第六宫，会造就不幸的奴隶。

[16] If the Moon, diminished in light and placed in the sign in which it is depressed, is set partilely with Saturn in the 7th place from the Ascendant, while Mars is in the 6th place from the Ascendant and the Sun in the 3rd, a slave will be born in like manner. And also if the Sun has been found with a malefic planet in the 3rd place from the Ascendant, or in the lower Midheaven, while the benefic planets are placed in the cast-down places, and the Moon, diminished in light, is likewise placed in a cast-down place, it will make feeble slaves.

〔十六〕倘若光亏的月亮落在它所低落的星座，与土星精确到度同在从上升点起的第七宫，而火星在从上升点起的第六宫，太阳在第三宫，同样会生下奴隶。又倘若太阳与一颗凶星同在从上升点起的第三宫或天底，而吉星落在低陷的宫位，光亏的月亮也同样落在低陷的宫位，会造就体弱的奴隶。

[17] But if, the rest being arranged as we have said, the Moon is placed with Mars in the 12th place from the Ascendant, while the star of Saturn has been found in the lower Midheaven, lunatic slaves will be born. If the Sun has been found with either Mars or Saturn in the succedent of the Ascendant, while the Moon is placed in the 12th place from the Ascendant, and the benefic planets are placed in the 3rd place from the Ascendant, they will make unhappy slaves. But if, with these arranged as we have said, Jupiter has been found in the Midheaven, they obtain the reward of freedom after many years.

〔十七〕但倘若其余如我们所说排列，而月亮与火星同在从上升点起的第十二宫，土星之星落在天底，会生下患月狂病的奴隶。倘若太阳与火星或土星同在上升点的续宫，月亮在从上升点起的第十二宫，吉星落在从上升点起的第三宫，会造就不幸的奴隶。但倘若这些如我们所说排列，而木星落在中天，他们多年之后会得到自由的奖赏。

[18] If all the benefic planets have been found in the 6th place from the Ascendant, while the malefics are in either the 9th or the 8th, and the Moon too is placed in the 3rd place from the Ascendant, wretched, unsuccessful, short-lived slaves will be born.

〔十八〕倘若一切吉星都落在从上升点起的第六宫，凶星在第九宫或第八宫，月亮又落在从上升点起的第三宫，会生下悲惨、不成功、短命的奴隶。
