Mercury and the Moon in Opposition.

水星与月亮成对冲

If Mercury and the Moon have aspected each other by an opposite aspect, and, placed in contrary places, have struck at each other from afar with the power of their rays, they rouse the onrush of an unbridled multitude and the bloody dangers of popular sedition, so that the malignant voice of the people always pursues them in public gatherings. They also bring about in their mind and their words a downcast trembling of fear.

倘若水星与月亮以对冲的相位彼此相照，落在相反的宫位，以它们光线的威力远远地互相打击，它们就激起无约束的群众的冲击与民众骚乱的血腥危险，以致民众恶毒的声音总在公众集会上追逐他们。它们还在他们的心里与言辞里造成沮丧的恐惧颤抖。

On Sextiles.

When planets have aspected each other by a sextile aspect, they decree those things which we said they decree from a trine aspect. But the effect of these decrees is diminished in some part, and the aspect, bereft of strength through its languid powers, composes its effectiveness in all nativities with lesser power. But it will be fitting for you to remember this: that sextiles are dulled in their strength if they are separated by tropical or double signs, and are ineffectual whenever a solid sign intervenes.

[1] So that we may make known to you in every way, Mavortius, our glory, the full effects of the mixtures, now that the mixtures in trine and in square alike have been unravelled, and every aspect of opposition has been explained in particular, we shall now mark out with a clear interpretation in our discourse the joined associations of the planets, so that, every tempering of the mixtures having been shown, we may come to the particular decrees of the effects.

Saturn and Jupiter Together.

[2] If Saturn and Jupiter have received the lodging of a single degree, and, placed together in one place, are joined with an equal power of association; if they have been joined by this aspect of association in suitable places of the nativity, and in those signs or degrees in which they rejoice, they decree from this association the insignia of good fortune, increases of patrimony, the advantages of glory, the incorruptible protection of virtue, and a happy offspring of children, especially if the nativity is a day nativity.

〔二〕倘若土星与木星接受了同一度的寓所，在同一个宫位里一同落定，以同等的结伴之力相结；倘若它们以这种结伴的相位相结在本命合宜的宫位，并在它们所喜乐的星座或度数里，它们就从这一结伴中判定好运的徽章、祖产的增长、荣耀的好处、德行不可败坏的护佑，以及幸福的子女后代，尤其是倘若本命盘是白天的。

[3] For then they enjoin great occupations, then offices of stewardship, then charge of the property of others. But if Mars has struck at them, so placed, from a superior place with a threatening aspect, all that we have said is changed by the envious aspect of Mars.

〔三〕因为那时它们委以大的职业，那时委以管家的职务，那时委以掌管别人的财产。但倘若火星从上方的位置以带威胁的相位打击这样落定的它们，我们所说的一切都因火星嫉妒的相位而改变。

[4] If Saturn and Mars have received the lodging of a single degree, and, placed together in the same place, are joined with an equal power of association, if this conjunction is in suitable places of the nativity, it composes the characters of men with an even moderation of gravity and softens every impulse of the soul with gentle temperings.

〔四〕倘若土星与火星接受了同一度的寓所，在同一个宫位里一同落定，以同等的结伴之力相结；倘若这一相结在本命合宜的宫位，它就以庄重的均匀节度组成人的品格，以温和的调和软化灵魂的每一股冲动。

[5] For the thoughtless rashness of Mars, the wickedness of its ardor, and the impatient ardor of its inflamed heat are tempered by the cold of Saturn joined with it; and with the fires softened which the nature of its own heat had kindled, it borrows gravity for shaping the characters of men from the associations of cold joined to it, so that in shaping characters the heat of Mars is always dulled by the slow cold of Saturn. And so, when the heat of Mars has warmed the cold of Saturn, and when the cold of Saturn joined with it has put out its flames, from this moderation of tempering the characters of men receive the perfected ornaments of gravity.

[6] Nevertheless, action is hindered by the contrary dissensions of these planets, since in business one calls back while the other drives on. And those who have Mars and Saturn so never prosperously obtain what they wish, but, always troubled with sadness of soul by an ineffectual desire, they abandon the unfulfilled wishes of their desires. They are also entangled in the various dangers of illnesses, their body is wearied by unbroken successions of languor, and the ruin of black bile is continually stirred up against them to the harmful injury of the body.

〔六〕然而，作为却因这两颗星相反的不和而受阻，因为在事务上一颗往回拉，另一颗往前推。这样拥有火星与土星的人，从不能顺遂地得到所想要的，而总因徒劳的欲望以灵魂的悲伤而烦恼，放弃了他们欲望中未能实现的愿望。他们还卷入种种疾病的危险，身体被不断的倦怠所困乏，黑胆汁的毁坏不断地被激起来对付他们，对身体造成有害的伤损。

[7] A swift death also overwhelms the father and the mother alike; the father's substance too is squandered by various kinds of ruin, and an evil end is always prepared for the brothers through the natives themselves. Whoever were taken up first are either laid low by a wretched end in death, or, bereft of all protection of good fortune, they look up to the power of their brother's glory with the greatest veneration of humility. But they frequently impose on the natives the greatest difficulties and the anxiety of grave wanderings.

〔七〕迅速的死亡也同样压倒父亲与母亲；父亲的资财也被种种毁坏散尽；借本命之人自己之手，兄弟总被准备了恶劣的结局。凡是先出生的，或者被悲惨的死亡结局打倒，或者失去好运的一切护佑，以最大的谦卑敬意仰望兄弟荣耀的权力。但他们常给本命之人加上最大的困难与沉重漂泊的忧虑。

[8] But all these things grow stronger if they have occupied some angle of the nativity in the same association of degree. For then their mind is never bent by the changeable varieties of reasoning, but they endure every toil and every onset of dangers with the virtues of a bravely constant mind, unless Jupiter, placed in the principal angles, and in those signs in which it is exalted, or placed in its own house or in suitable places of the nativity, has softened all the dangers of these evils.

[9] If Saturn and the Sun have received the lodging of a single degree, and, placed together in the same place, are joined with an equal association of power, this conjunction squanders all the father's substance and decrees a wretched end in death for the father himself; and these evils grow stronger in night nativities, whether Saturn has been found in morning or in evening rising. Then a heavy heap of misfortunes assails the father, then they always run into wretched dangers of perils, then a bitter ruin of evils is decreed for the brothers, if in a night nativity Saturn and the Sun have been joined in this association.

〔九〕倘若土星与太阳接受了同一度的寓所，在同一个宫位里一同落定，以同等的力量结伴相结，这一相结就散尽父亲的全部资财，并为父亲本人判定悲惨的死亡结局；这些恶事在夜间的本命盘里更强，无论土星是在晨升还是昏升中被发现。那时一堆沉重的不幸攻击父亲，那时他们总陷入危难的悲惨危险，那时为兄弟判定恶事的苦涩毁灭，倘若在夜间的本命盘里土星与太阳以这种结伴相结。

[10] But if, placed in the same sign, they have been separated by these differences of degrees, so that the Sun has few degrees and Saturn more, then the danger of a bad death, with a wretched end in calamity, is brought upon the father, and everything we have said comes about in a strong succession of evils; and together with all these evils, the patrimony torn apart or confiscated and the whole substance of fortune squandered, the utmost burden of poverty is imposed. Languors from vicious humors are also brought on, and all strength is crushed by the feebleness of a wearied body. The eyes of others are assailed by the wretched ruin of blindness.

〔十〕但倘若它们落在同一个星座里，却以这样的度数差别分开，以致太阳的度数少而土星的度数多，那时就给父亲带来不好的死亡危险与悲惨的灾祸结局，我们所说的一切都以恶事的强烈接续发生；在这一切恶事之外，祖产被撕裂或被抄没，命运的全部实质散尽，加上贫穷的极重担子。由恶性体液而来的倦怠也被带来，一切力气被疲惫身体的虚弱压垮。另一些人的眼睛受到失明的悲惨毁坏攻击。

[11] Yet this conjunction will always make these same men capable farmers, so that after a long space of time sufficient support of resources is conferred on them from the cultivation of fields. These men will indeed always be darkened by sadness. But if the Sun and Saturn have been placed together in the house of the Sun or in the house of Saturn, they make the father glorious indeed, but bereft of all protection of riches. And the Sun and Saturn placed together embitter the natives themselves against their fathers with parricidal hatreds of enmity. And the wretched decrees of those misfortunes we have mentioned always assail these same men.

[12] If Saturn and Venus have received the lodging of a single degree, and, placed together in the same place, are joined with an equal power of association, this conjunction decrees marriages with unworthy women and always stirs up the wretched misfortunes of marriages. For it decrees wives either barren or infirm, whose conspicuous defect disfigures the whole form of the body; or the native is struck with grave infamy; or, from these misfortunes, the offspring of children is also denied them.

〔十二〕倘若土星与金星接受了同一度的寓所，在同一个宫位里一同落定，以同等的结伴之力相结，这一相结就判定与不配的女人结婚，并总激起婚姻的悲惨不幸。因为它判定的妻子或不育，或体弱，她明显的缺陷使身体的整个形貌难看；或者本命之人受到严重污名的打击；或者因这些不幸，子女的后代也被拒绝给他们。

[13] Those who have Saturn and Venus so either never take up children or take them up late, and these same men will always be cold toward Venus, and their cruel mind always disagrees with itself in unstable variety. Venus and Saturn placed together decree these things also in the nativities of women, with an equal association of aspect.

〔十三〕这样拥有土星与金星的人，或者永不得子女，或者晚得子女；这些人对情爱总是冷淡，他们冷酷的心总以不定的变化自相矛盾。一同落定的金星与土星，在女人的本命盘里也以同等的相位结伴判定这些事。

[14] But these things grow stronger if Saturn and Venus have been found together in Capricorn or in Aquarius. For these signs always taint Venus badly, especially if the association of Saturn has been added. For then the malice of this conjunction can be softened neither by the presence nor by the testimony of Jupiter.

〔十四〕但倘若土星与金星一同被发现在摩羯或水瓶里，这些就更强。因为这些星座总是恶劣地沾染金星，尤其是倘若再加上土星的结伴。因为那时这一相结的恶意，既不能被木星的同在、也不能被木星的见证所缓和。

[15] If Saturn and Mercury have occupied the place of a single degree in an equal association, they always hinder the sound of the voice with a stammering confusion of the tongue, or cause the hindered words to be brought out in slow speech, or always assail the hearing with a grave illness; and Mercury and Saturn placed together never allow their desires to be fulfilled.

〔十五〕倘若土星与水星以同等的结伴占住同一度的位置，它们就总以舌头的口吃混乱阻碍声音，或使受阻的话语以迟缓的言辞说出，或总以严重的疾病攻击听觉；一同落定的水星与土星，从不让他们的欲望得到满足。

[16] They will also be bereft of the testimony of good faith in all their actions. Those who have Saturn and Mercury so will also be hardened with a rigid authority of mind and always composed in an obstinate and gloomy dissimulation, and they will conceal the plans of their soul with a deep, malicious silence. But they will steep their intellect in many studies of learning.

〔十六〕他们还会在一切作为中失去信义的见证。这样拥有土星与水星的人，还会以心中僵硬的威严而变得刚硬，总以顽固阴沉的掩饰来自持，以深沉而恶意的沉默隐藏他们灵魂的谋划。但他们会让自己的才智浸润在许多学问的钻研之中。

[17] If Saturn and the Moon have received the lodging of a single degree, and, placed together in the same place, are joined on a principle of equal association, they always assail all impulses, all thoughts of the soul, and all actions with a feeble trembling of fear. The mother's substance too is squandered from this association by wretched ruin. They also weaken their mothers, and the natives themselves as well, with a grave, unbroken succession of illnesses. But if the nativity is a day nativity, and the Moon is full of light, and a suitable aspect of the benefic planets has come to it, the wickedness of all these evils is held off.

〔十七〕倘若土星与月亮接受了同一度的寓所，在同一个宫位里一同落定，以同等结伴的道理相结，它们就总以虚弱的恐惧颤抖攻击一切冲动、灵魂的一切思虑与一切作为。母亲的资财也因这一结伴而被悲惨地散尽。它们还以严重而不断的疾病削弱他们的母亲，也削弱本命之人自己。但倘若本命盘是白天的，月亮光满，又有吉星合宜的相位来到它，这一切恶事的邪恶就被挡住。

[18] But if the nativity is a night nativity and the Moon is diminished in light, this conjunction decrees every kind of unhappiness and every ruin of evils. And even if the testimonies of Venus and Jupiter have come to it together, their saving protection is disregarded and the ruin of calamity grows strong.

〔十八〕但倘若本命盘是夜间的，月亮光亏，这一相结就判定每一种不幸与恶事的每一种毁灭。即使金星与木星的见证一同来到它，它们救护的庇佑也被置之不理，灾祸的毁灭仍然强大。
