第九章

[1] Now I shall explain to you the decrees of the square aspect, an association that is always composed of a strong and threatening aspect. For from this conjunction the strength of the malefic planets is increased, and the protection of the benefics is sometimes overcome [lacuna] the threatening aspect, which always rages with power equal to that of the opposite aspect in bringing about evils.

〔一〕现在我要向你解释四分相的论断，这种结伴总由一种强而带威胁的相位构成。因为从这种相结中，凶星的力量增加，吉星的护佑有时被压倒〔此处原文有缺〕带威胁的相位，它在造成恶事上总以与对冲相位相等的力量肆虐。

Saturn and Jupiter in Square.

[2] If Jupiter and Saturn have been joined by a square aspect, and Saturn is superior, occupying the superior part of the right square, while Jupiter, in the left square, is seen to have become inferior, they decree dangers to life, diminish the substance of the patrimony, turn all the natives' plans to ill, hinder their actions, and disturb their minds with various dissensions of the soul; they also assail the fathers with various kinds of calamity, and squander the father's substance by various kinds of ruin.

〔二〕倘若木星与土星以四分相相结，而土星居上位，占住右四分的上方之位，木星则在左四分，显得居于下位，它们就判定性命的危险，减损祖产的实质，把本命之人的一切谋划转向坏处，阻碍他们的作为，以灵魂的种种不和扰乱他们的心；它们还以种种灾祸攻击父亲，以种种毁坏散尽父亲的资财。

[3] But if Jupiter, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Saturn placed in the left square, the misfortunes of the aforesaid calamities are softened, the parents are ennobled by some splendor of glory and praise, and, according to the measure of the nativity, daily advantages of gain are conferred on the natives.

〔三〕但倘若木星居上位、占住右方，照着落在左四分的土星，前面所说灾祸的不幸就得到缓和，父母因某种荣耀与称赞的光彩而显贵，并依本命的分量，每日营利的好处授予本命之人。

Saturn and Mars in Square.

[4] If Saturn and Mars have been joined by a square aspect, and Saturn, having become superior and occupying the right square, has aspected Mars placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, from this conjunction they always hinder all actions through ineffectual effort, and make men always estranged from every duty of business through a cold torpor of mind.

〔四〕倘若土星与火星以四分相相结，而土星居上位、占住右四分，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的火星，它们就从这一相结中总以徒劳无功的努力阻碍一切作为，并以心智的冰冷麻木使人总疏离一切事务的职分。

[5] They also always bring about illnesses of various kinds, so that cold mingled with fevers shakes their body in a dreadful unbroken succession. This conjunction also squanders the resources of the father's substance, and they always point to the deaths of brothers through a grievous stroke of misfortune.

〔五〕它们还总带来种种疾病，以致夹着热病的寒冷以可怕的不断发作震撼他们的身体。这一相结还散尽父亲资财的财力，并总以不幸的沉重打击显示兄弟的死亡。

[6] But if Mars, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Saturn placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, from this conjunction a speedy end in death is prepared for the mother. But an effective zeal for prosperous endeavor always brings these natives to all their actions, all the stain of the former malice having been laid to rest.

〔六〕但倘若火星居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的土星，从这一相结中就为母亲准备了迅速的死亡结局。但有效的、追求顺遂努力的热忱总把这些本命之人带到一切作为上，先前恶意的一切污点都已平息。

[7] Nevertheless the father's substance is scattered from this conjunction as well. And the natives themselves are shaken by an unbroken succession of losses, and the wickedness of the men of their own household always inflicts on them a malignant wound of infamy.

〔七〕然而从这一相结中，父亲的资财也同样被散。本命之人自己也被不断的损失所震撼，自家人的邪恶总给他们造成恶毒的污名之伤。

Saturn and the Sun in Square.

[8] If Saturn and the Sun have been joined by a square aspect, and Saturn, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected the Sun placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction weakens the insignia of the honor previously held, brings about the loss of rank with a bitter injury to honor, and deforms their body with an unbroken contraction of the sinews.

〔八〕倘若土星与太阳以四分相相结，而土星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的太阳，这一相结就削弱先前所持的尊荣徽章，以对尊荣的苦涩伤害带来品级的丧失，并以筋腱不断的挛缩使他们的身体变形。

[9] It also binds their parents with this same stain of misfortunes, and it also makes these same fathers die before the mothers. It makes the natives themselves always go astray in various kinds of wrongdoing, decrees ruin from harmful company, and always brings about grave illnesses from a bitter cold of the humors; it both cuts down and breaks alike the patrimony and all their actions.

〔九〕它还以同样的不幸污点束缚他们的父母，还使这些父亲死在母亲之前。它使本命之人自己总在种种过错中迷途，判定有害的交往带来毁灭，并总以体液的苦寒带来重病；它把祖产与一切作为一齐砍倒、一齐折断。

[10] But if the Sun, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Saturn placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction scatters the father's substance, always brings about grave enmities with the men of their own household, and always assails every impulse of the mind, and all their actions too, with various kinds of indignation and with obscure thoughts. It also never allows their plans to have prosperous outcomes; in early life it brings about the bitter and frequent troubles of illnesses, and it weakens the wearied body with a manifold, unbroken succession of illnesses.

〔十〕但倘若太阳居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的土星，这一相结就散尽父亲的资财，总带来与自家人的深重仇怨，并总以种种愤懑与隐晦的思虑攻击心的每一冲动以及他们的一切作为。它还从不让他们的谋划有顺遂的结局；在幼年它带来苦而频繁的疾病困扰，并以多样而不断的疾病削弱疲惫的身体。

[11] If Saturn and Venus have been joined by a square aspect, and Saturn, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected Venus placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction, the patrimony having been squandered, brings about the heavy burden of beggary, and always brings about, at the hands of women, the ruin of bitter calamities; it bestows no grace of beauty, and it will never allow their desires to have prosperous outcomes.

〔十一〕倘若土星与金星以四分相相结，而土星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的金星，这一相结就在祖产散尽之后带来乞讨的重担，并总在女人手里带来苦涩灾祸的毁灭；它不赐任何美貌的魅力，也从不让他们的欲望有顺遂的结局。

[12] But if Venus, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Saturn placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction bestows wives of honorable and chaste character, but such as claim for themselves all power of ruling in the house, loving their husbands with faithful and uncorrupted affection, so that the conjugal grace of both binds them to one another; yet both try to hide their love with a certain dissimulation.

〔十二〕但倘若金星居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的土星，这一相结就赐予品行端正而贞洁的妻子，但她们为自己要求家中一切主宰之权，以忠实而不可败坏的情意爱着丈夫，以致两人婚姻的情分把彼此相结；然而两人都试图以某种掩饰来隐藏他们的爱。

Saturn and Mercury in Square.

[13] If Saturn and Mercury have been joined by a square aspect, and Saturn, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected Mercury placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction decrees exiles from the first day of birth, and it both brings about and assails alike all the thoughts of the soul and all the ordering of plans, and it always pursues all actions with a cold torpor. It also makes the natives always subject to the powers of others, handling the secondary services of business in all their actions; yet it brings upon them the greatest storms of envy.

〔十三〕倘若土星与水星以四分相相结，而土星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的水星，这一相结就从出生的第一天起判定流放；它对灵魂的一切思虑、谋划的一切次序，既带来又攻击；它总以冰冷的麻木追随一切作为。它还使本命之人总受他人的权力支配，在一切作为中办理事务的次要差事；然而它给他们带来最大的嫉妒风暴。

[14] In some, with the tongue tied, it will produce a stammering sound of the voice; others, their ears dulled, it makes deaf; and these defects persist unless the aforesaid evil has been softened by the testimony of Mars. But if Mercury, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Saturn placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, nothing good is decreed from this association of conjunction either, but the wickedness of the aforesaid misfortunes is softened somewhat.

〔十四〕对一些人，它使舌头被缚，造成口吃的声音；另一些人，耳朵迟钝，它使之耳聋；这些缺陷会持续，除非前面所说的恶被火星的见证所缓和。但倘若水星居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的土星，从这种相结的结伴中也判定不出任何好事，只是前面所说不幸的邪恶稍稍缓和。

Saturn and the Moon in Square.

[15] If Saturn and the Moon have been joined by a square aspect, and Saturn, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected the Moon placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction will cause the body to be wearied by malignant humors, it will make the natives estranged from all actions through idle torpors of the soul, and it renders them such that they can never venture upon any actions. This conjunction also always squanders the mother's substance with wretched ruin, or makes sons take up parricidal contests of enmity against their mothers.

〔十五〕倘若土星与月亮以四分相相结，而土星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的月亮，这一相结会使身体被恶性的体液所困乏，会以灵魂的懒惰麻木使本命之人疏离一切作为，使他们永远不敢去做任何事。这一相结还总以悲惨的毁坏散尽母亲的资财，或使儿子与母亲结下弑亲般的仇怨争斗。

[16] But if the Moon, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Saturn placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction lays the mother low by a wretched death, surrounds the native himself with a bitter, unbroken succession of dangers, brings about grievous ruin by illness from malignant humors, will cause him to be wearied by the various misfortunes of wanderings, and always brings about losses and the ruin of marriage and of honor. And even if marriage has been decreed through the protection of other planets, this conjunction embitters the wife's soul with the bitter discord of hatreds. It also makes the natives bereft of all protection from friends and from children.

〔十六〕但倘若月亮居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的土星，这一相结就以悲惨的死亡使母亲倒下，以苦涩而不断的危险包围本命之人，以恶性体液的疾病带来沉重的毁坏，使他因种种漂泊的不幸而困乏，并总带来婚姻与尊荣的损失与丧失。即使婚姻借其他行星的护佑而被判定，这一相结也以仇恨的苦涩不和激怒妻子的灵魂。它还使本命之人失去朋友与子女的一切护佑。

Jupiter and Mars in Square.

木星与火星成四分

[1] If Jupiter and Mars have been joined by a square aspect, and Jupiter, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected Mars placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction decrees the insignia of the greatest glory, always commends these same men with good recommendation, and decrees glorious insignia of honors.

〔一〕倘若木星与火星以四分相相结，而木星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的火星，这一相结就判定最大荣耀的徽章，总以良好的推荐引荐这些人，并判定尊荣的荣耀徽章。

[2] Some it will entangle in military offices, others it assigns to royal households, and it decrees offices of noble and public affairs. It makes the natives raised up by these offices of business, so that they obtain this business with the greatest increase of rank. But these men will never be able to preserve well the resources of the father's substance. And this conjunction always brings about continual griefs from the misfortunes of their children, or at least it will make them take up children late.

〔二〕一些人，它会使之卷入军职；另一些人，它派到王室之家；它还判定高贵而公共的事务之职。它使本命之人因这些事务之职而被抬起，以致他们以品级的最大增长得到这些事务。但这些人永远不能好好保住父亲资财的财力。这一相结还总从子女的意外中带来不断的悲痛，或至少使他们晚得子女。

[3] But if Mars, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Jupiter placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction sharpens every inflamed impulse of the mind, will make the natives err in various ways throughout their whole life, and without cause compels these men always to endure the troubles of great toil. But this toil is incurred either from public or from royal affairs, and beyond this it decrees the dangers of malicious insinuations and bitter accusations from the hostile ardor of enemies.

〔三〕但倘若火星居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的木星，这一相结就把心中每一股炽热的冲动磨得更锐利，使本命之人一生以种种方式犯错，并无缘无故地迫使这些人总忍受大劳苦的困扰。但这劳苦或来自公家事务，或来自王家事务；此外它还从仇敌敌对的热度中判定恶意中伤与苦涩控告的危险。

Jupiter and the Sun in Square.

[4] If Jupiter and the Sun have been joined by a square aspect, and Jupiter, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected the Sun placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction decrees the insignia of rank both by the native's own merit and by his father's, and it bestows increases and promotions of good and great honors, always commends him with the good testimony of recommendations, and many will be subject to him by the merit of his rank.

〔四〕倘若木星与太阳以四分相相结，而木星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的太阳，这一相结就凭本命之人自己与父亲的功劳判定品级的徽章，赐予良好而重大的尊荣的增长与升迁，总以良好的推荐见证引荐他，许多人因他品级的功劳而受他管辖。

[5] But if the Sun, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Jupiter placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction will make the father adorned with the bright splendor of nobility, but it causes the father's patrimony to be confiscated by a wretched public seizure, and it stirs up threatening crowds of strong and wicked enemies.

〔五〕但倘若太阳居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的木星，这一相结会使父亲以高贵的明亮光彩为饰，却使父亲的祖产被悲惨的公家抄没所没收，并激起强大而邪恶的仇敌的威胁人群。

[6] If Jupiter and Venus have been joined by a square aspect, and Jupiter, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected Venus placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction always associates the natives with the friendships of many, and by the same principle it will cause both occupations and gains to be conferred through the protection of women; it always adorns the whole substance of life with honorable rank, and it will make these same men observe the worship of the gods with a devoted ardor of veneration.

〔六〕倘若木星与金星以四分相相结，而木星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的金星，这一相结总使本命之人与许多人结交友谊，并依同样的道理，使职业与营利都借女人的护佑而授予他们；它总以体面的品级装点人生的全部实质，并使这些人以虔诚的敬奉热忱守护众神的祭祀。

[7] But if Venus, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Jupiter placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, from this conjunction it decrees the allurements of love affairs and will cause the native to dwell upon the care of his clothing and body, so that from this conjunction he always gladly adorns himself, and it always brings about luxurious desires for pleasures. But as often as they have attained the prosperous joys of gladness, so often do the altered decrees of the fates turn these same things into their opposite.

〔七〕但倘若金星居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的木星，它就从这一相结中判定情爱的诱惑，使本命之人流连于衣着与身体的打扮，以致从这一相结中他总乐于修饰自己；它还总带来对享乐的奢侈欲望。但他们每次得到顺遂的欢喜，命运改变了的判定就每次把这些转为反面。

Jupiter and Mercury in Square.

[8] If Jupiter and Mercury have been joined by a square aspect, and Jupiter, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected Mercury placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, from this conjunction the offices of writings or of letters or of the arts are decreed; it makes men placed in charge of accounts and calculations, and patrimony and occupations are conferred on them from some public defense.

〔八〕倘若木星与水星以四分相相结，而木星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的水星，从这一相结中就判定书写、文书或技艺的职务；它使人掌管账目与计算，祖产与职业借某种公家的辩护授予他们。

[9] But if Mercury, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Jupiter placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction will grant sufficient support of resources, but these men always hinder themselves in every action, avoiding all good things as though they were evil from some unaccountable fear of mind; and they will be such that whatever others desire to obtain with the most earnest prayers, all of it, even if it has come to them by chance, they despise with obstinate judgment of mind. Nor do they desire benefits to be conferred on them by others, nor do they themselves try to procure anything good for themselves.

〔九〕但倘若水星居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的木星，这一相结会赐予足够的资财之助，但这些人在每一件事上总阻碍自己，因心中某种说不出的恐惧，把一切好事都当作坏事避开；他们会是这样的人：别人以最恳切的祈祷想要得到的东西，即使偶然来到他们手里，他们也以顽固的心意轻视。他们既不愿别人给他们恩惠，自己也不设法为自己求得任何好处。

[10] If Jupiter and the Moon have been joined by a square aspect, and Jupiter, occupying the superior part of the right square, has aspected the Moon placed in the left square with a threatening aspect, this conjunction decrees boundless riches both to the mother and to the native himself, decrees the greatest offices of business, and sets him over all his relatives by marriage by the merit of the greatest rank; [lacuna] it always commends him, placed in this rank, to the people with renown, and he will always be adorned with the excellent testimony of fame.

〔十〕倘若木星与月亮以四分相相结，而木星占住右四分的上方之位，以带威胁的相位照着落在左四分的月亮，这一相结就给母亲与本命之人自己判定无限的财富，判定最大的事务之职，并凭最大品级的功劳使他居于一切姻亲之上；〔此处原文有缺〕总把居于此品级的他以名声引荐给民众，他也总以名望的卓越见证为饰。

[11] But if the Moon, having become superior and occupying the right side, has aspected Jupiter placed in the inferior place with a square aspect, this conjunction bestows many insignia of good fortune. It also decrees recommendations and glories, and always commends the native to the powerful and to kings with favorable recommendation. But this same good fortune does not persist for all time. For at a certain time it decrees both losses of patrimony and injuries to honor, diminishes the insignia of rank, and will make them, oppressed by an idle torpor of mind, estranged from the administration of their former business.

〔十一〕但倘若月亮居上位、占住右方，以四分相照着落在下位的木星，这一相结就赐予好运的许多徽章。它还判定推荐与荣耀，总以顺遂的推荐把本命之人引荐给权贵与君王。但这同样的好运并不持续到永远。因为在某个时候，它判定祖产的损失与尊荣的伤害，减损品级的徽章，并使他们被心智的懒惰麻木所压，疏离先前事务的管理。
