[1] Our discourse has frequently admonished you, Mavortius, our glory, about the mixtures of the planets, impressing upon you nothing else in all our pronouncements, nothing else in the substance of the decrees, than the efficacy of a mixed tempering, especially since in the nativities of men the first angles do one thing and the second angles another.
[2] For the first angles occupy the Ascendant and the Midheaven, the second angles take in the lower Midheaven and the Descendant; and from the always varied and contrary power of these four angles the whole substance of the nativity is known, and all the planets, according to the powers of their own nature, decree one thing when placed in the first angles and another in the second.
[3] The fifth and eleventh places from the Ascendant too, that is, those of Good Fortune and of the Good Daemon, differ from the inert lowliness of the idle places; nor are they joined by any association of aspect with the idle and cast-down places, but they are associated with the Ascendant by a fortunate association of aspect. The third efficacy in decreeing is allotted to the ninth and third places from the Ascendant, because the Ascendant joins these places too to itself in the greatest partnership of association.
[4] But the second and eighth places from the Ascendant are separated from all partnership with the Ascendant, the bond of association being dissolved. [lacuna] every principle of association excludes the sixth and twelfth places from the Ascendant and assails them with the precarious lowliness of being cast down.
[5] From this variety of the places the power of the planets is either raised up or falls, just as we showed in the preceding exposition; for in the third book we comprehended in detail what each planet decrees when placed in each place.

卷六
I.
第一章
| 善灵 | the Good Daemon | 第十一宫之名 |

[6] But pray with whatever prayers you can that the course of neither the benefic nor the malefic planets should ever occupy the sixth or twelfth place from the Ascendant, or the second or the eighth either, in the decrees of men. For these places are always occupied by all the planets with hostile aspects.
[7] For whatever star has settled in these places either loses the salutary protection of its goodness, or, if it is malignant, is strengthened to do harm more strongly, its power of malice exasperated. In these places the malefic planets placed with the Moon decree, generally and without any remedy, the ruin of misfortunes; while the benefics, shut up in a way in the hidden lowliness of these places, lose the salutary protection of their power.
[8] And the diverse and changeable condition of the planets works one thing in day nativities and another in night ones, and they have various powers of decreeing when the individual planets are joined to one another by a trine, square, or opposite aspect.
[9] For from this the whole association of the mixtures is tempered, from this the whole power of the decrees is discerned. For the planets, always set against one another according to their nature or their condition, compose the fates of men with an even moderation of variety.
[10] This substance of the mixtures I shall now explain to you, Mavortius, our glory, so that I may impart to you the full discipline of this divine wisdom. But before our discourse comes to the explanation of the mixtures, I shall tell you a few things about the royal powers of the bright stars, so that the beginnings of this book may be adorned with the explanations of the august stars.

On the Bright Stars of the Signs.
[1] We find bright stars, shining with the august radiance of majesty, in all the signs, but royal ones in four, namely in Leo, in Scorpio, in Aquarius, and in Taurus. But in which degrees of these you may find the august light I shall show in a brief discourse.
[2] The fifth degree of Leo has a star shining with brilliant splendor. If the Moon, waxing in light, has been found at this star, occupying partilely the angle of the Ascendant or of the Midheaven, it decrees kingdoms and the greatest commands of power.
[3] The 20th degree of Aquarius too is adorned with a like splendor of majesty. For if the Moon, full of light, has risen at this star, that is, in the 20th degree of Aquarius, and occupies the first angles of the nativity, it decrees in a like manner the insignia of royal power and imperial rank. And the 15th degree of Taurus, and the 27th and the 30th, are adorned alike with light and with majesty. 第二章
For if the Moon has been found in the 15th degree of Taurus, it decrees increases of the most powerful [lacuna] and of abundant substance, if it has occupied the first angles of the nativity.

[4] If the Moon has been found in the twenty-seventh degree of Taurus, it decrees the insignia of great rank and makes such men as sustain the life of the greatest peoples by their power, granting the people whatever has been demanded by popular desire, and consecrating magnificent and splendid offerings to the temples, so that they are honored for these things with the everlasting splendors of glory.
[5] The thirtieth degree of Taurus too, as we have said, gleams with the divine light of majesty; for if the Moon has been found in this degree as well, it decrees the insignia and license of great power. And if, placed in this degree, it has been found in the first angles, it decrees generalships, commands, and kingship, especially if Jupiter has aspected it, waxing in light, with a prosperous aspect.
[6] For then, lifted up by the license of their power and possessing dominion over both sea and land, they lead an army fortunately both by sea and by land. The 7th degree in Scorpio will also accomplish these same things. For a like splendor of majesty adorns that degree.
[7] But in this degree the Moon, placed in the first angles, together with the preceding insignia of rank, decrees the horror of dire cruelty and immoderate terror. For those who have the Moon so, placed in the greatest license of power, rage against all men with the heat of unbridled greed.
[8] These few things we have gathered for you in the meantime from the books of the Myriogenesis; but when this work has been set out, we shall render those promised things as well. Now we make known all the mixtures of the planets, as we promised, so that, with every tempering of the mixtures composed, we may explain the whole of what we promised. For about the bright stars of all the signs and about their decrees I shall tell you everything in detail in the last book, that is, the eighth.

For about the bright stars of all the signs and about their decrees I shall tell you everything in detail in the last book, that is, the eighth.

III.
Saturn and Jupiter in Trine.
[1] All the planets, if they have aspected one another with a trine aspect, whether benefic or malefic, are brought together in prosperous temperings of mixtures; and the wickedness of the malefics is mitigated by this aspect, while the salutary benefits of the benefics grow strong.
[2] If, then, Saturn has been joined to Jupiter by a trine aspect, and this conjunction has avoided the idle and cast-down places, and both are in the signs in which they rejoice, or one of them, placed in its own house, aspects the other with a trine aspect, and they are associated with the Ascendant by a partile aspect, they decree boundless abundance with great felicity, especially if one of the two, that is, either Saturn or Jupiter, has received the light of the waxing Moon.
[3] For then Saturn bestows the ownership of boundless riches and great possessions; then it decrees sown lands, fields, then pastures and woodland glades. It will also make men public builders of certain sacred buildings, so that from this building the greatest merit of rank accrues to them. It will also make collectors of the payments due to the treasury, or men set over the sacred grain supply, and in these activities it confers the greatest rank of power.
[4] It will also make them superior without limit to their father's rank; but according to the measure and substance of the nativity it confers on some the duties of stewardship, on others the advantages of very great inheritances, on others gains sought by another's labor. All of these, however, it commends to powerful and very great men by the incorrupt insinuation of their good faith.
[5] But if, with Saturn and Jupiter joined by a trine aspect as we have said, Mercury is associated with them by an equal aspect, it entrusts them with the secrets of sacred and inaccessible religions, or makes them handle the duties of great cities or of kings, and makes them such men that kings entrust to them all the duties of their own activity; frequently kings also impose on them the office of a distinguished embassy.
[6] But these men are wearied by excessive misfortunes from the mishaps of their children, and, losing their children, they are either compelled to rear another's offspring, or at any rate they receive their own children back, after a long span of time, brought up by others. But these things come about if it is a day nativity without the testimony of Mars.
[7] For if either Mars has struck this mixture with a threatening aspect, or it is a night nativity, all these things we have mentioned are diminished. Beyond this, it also decrees the reproach of envy and contrarieties, and assails with the hidden envy of evil insinuation, or the hostile testimony of Mars assails the whole of whatever good has been decreed.

第三章

Saturn and Mars in Trine.
[8] If Saturn has been joined to Mars by a trine aspect, and this association is in suitable places of the nativity, and both are in the signs in which they rejoice, or in the degrees in which they rejoice, or in those in which they are exalted, and the testimony of Jupiter or Mercury is not lacking to them, they will produce the greatest gains and decree increases of daily profit.
[9] They will also make such men as a prosperous outcome follows in all their activities, and who in every activity are raised up by the license of power, procuring for themselves the greatest insignia of rank by their own labors; known, noble, imperious, and governing the offices of the greatest cities. But these men constantly look upon the deaths of their elder brothers.
Saturn and the Sun in Trine.
[10] If Saturn has been joined to the Sun by a trine aspect, and both are placed in suitable places of the nativity and separated from all lowliness, and it is also a day nativity, they heap up the insignia of life with constant promotions in rank, decree the power of the greatest glory, and confer renown and nobility; they will also cause their parents to be adorned with a like increase of rank, especially if they have been associated by this aspect while placed in masculine signs. But if it is a night nativity, after the father's means have been squandered, they will cause a patrimony to be conferred on them by their own virtue.

Saturn and Venus in Trine.
[11] If Saturn has been joined to Venus by a trine aspect, and both are placed in suitable places of the nativity and separated from all the lowliness of falls, they will make men's life conspicuous for gentle moderation, and adorn their character with the ornament of chaste and good conduct, and make them removed from all the impurity of unchastity, and also agreeable and conspicuous for chastity and purity, so that from this very conspicuousness envy is stirred up against them by their inferiors [text uncertain]. But they cause these same men to be joined late in the affections of marriage.
Saturn and Mercury in Trine.
[12] If Saturn has been joined with Mercury by a trine aspect, and both are placed in suitable places of the nativity and separated from all the lowliness of falls, they will make men sensible, ingenious, and always applied to every duty of the disciplines; but they will cause their character to be adorned early with the weight of gravity, and render them such men as have counsels that always grow strong by lively reasoning; and they will either give them activities based on accounts, or at any rate set them over the public computations and the treasury, or they will make royal scribes, so that great supports of means are conferred on them from these activities. But it is fitting for us to remember this, that the star of Mercury alone rejoices when placed in the 12th place from the Ascendant.
Saturn and the Moon in Trine.
[13] If Saturn has been joined to the Moon by a trine aspect, and both are placed in suitable places of the nativity and separated from all the lowliness of falls, and the Moon is full of light, they always commend those who have them so to kings, or emperors, or powerful men with a prosperous or fortunate recommendation, and the greatest insignia of glory are decreed from this conjunction. But if the Moon is diminished in light, the aforesaid increases of felicity are diminished.
[14] And with regard to the Moon too we ought to remember this, that it alone is found fortunately in the 8th place from the Ascendant in a night nativity, especially if in this place it is full of light in the signs or terms in which it rejoices. For then, from the power of this place, it decrees the insignia of felicity, then of rank, then the greatest supports of means, then dignities, then leadership. And placed in this place by day it likewise decrees these same things, if Jupiter has been found in the 11th place from the Ascendant.

But they cause these same men to be joined late in the affections of marriage.
