[1] Since, then, we have spoken in general terms about what the angles of heaven signify, let us now explain more particularly what the Ascendant does when placed in the terms of the planets. Receive with attentive mind what we say, and commit it to memory by constant reading. For otherwise you will not be able to explain the fates of men, unless a retentive memory has taken possession of all these things through frequent practice.

〔一〕既然我们已经笼统地说过天上诸角主什么，现在就更细地说明上升点落在行星的界里做什么。你要以专注的心领受我们所说的，并以经常的诵读把它交给记忆。因为否则你就不能解释人们的命运，除非牢固的记忆以频繁的练习掌握了这一切。

The Ascendant in the Terms of Saturn.

上升点在土星之界

[2] If the Ascendant has been found in the terms of Saturn, it will make the natives always idle and slow, obscure in the deep silence of their minds, evil, malicious, men cut off from all the grace of goodness, whose plans always have slow results, who pursue everyone with various kinds of hatred, and whose angers continue in perpetual indignation. But if, with the Ascendant placed in the terms of Saturn, Saturn itself has been found partilely in those same degrees, it will deny brothers, or lays low by a wretched death whichever were born first, or decrees the misfortune of perpetual childlessness, so that the offspring of children is always denied them.

〔二〕倘若上升点被发现在土星之界，就会使本命之人总是懒散迟缓，在心智深沉的缄默中晦暗不明，邪恶、恶毒，与善良的一切恩惠隔绝；他们的计划总是迟迟才有结果，他们以种种仇恨追逐每个人，他们的怒气以永久的义愤延续下去。但倘若上升点落在土星之界，而土星本身也精确到度地被发现在这同几度里，就会不给兄弟，或以悲惨的死击倒那些先出生的，或判定永久无子的不幸，以致子女的后代总被拒绝给他们。

[3] If Jupiter has been found in the terms of Saturn, that is, those in which the Ascendant is placed, it will make the natives tight-fisted, greedy, and mean, men who shun the grace of gladness through their whole life, always entangled in servile pursuits and manners, and who transfer all their substance to others under the title of a gift. But if Mars has been found in those degrees, it will make them wicked and cruel, possessed by the bitterness of every malice, men who always either hire themselves out or sell themselves in various ways for various activities. But their malice and their crime can never be hidden; rather, their crime and their evil purpose are uncovered by the very heat of their own rashness.

〔三〕倘若木星被发现在土星之界，即上升点所落的那几度，就会使本命之人吝啬、贪婪、卑琐，一生避开欢乐的恩惠，总被奴仆般的追求与习性所缠绕，并以赠与为名把自己的全部资财转给别人。但倘若火星被发现在那几度里，就会使他们邪恶残忍，被一切恶意的苦毒所占据，总以种种方式为种种勾当出租自己或出卖自己。但他们的恶意与罪行永远藏不住；他们的罪行与恶念反而被他们自己鲁莽的热度揭露出来。

[4] If the Sun has been found in those degrees, it will make men temperate in character, but armed for every venom of malice, and who always leave their plans unfinished and incomplete. If Venus has been found in those degrees, it will make them sordid in sexual intercourse, and men who always long for the property of others with envious greed. If Mercury has been found in those degrees, it will make them sordid in all their dealings, men who are frequently handed over to prison and public custody, and who are entangled in wretched perils on account of crime. If the Moon has been found waxing in those degrees, or full of light, it renders them vain in mind and body. But if it is diminished in light, it vitiates the whole body with malignant humors, and either makes them dropsical, or disfigured by a livid pallor, or at any rate decrees madness.

〔四〕倘若太阳被发现在那几度里，就会使人性情有节制，却为一切恶意的毒液武装起来，总把自己的计划弃置于未完、未成。倘若金星被发现在那几度里，就会使他们在交合上卑污，总以嫉妒的贪欲渴求他人的财物。倘若水星被发现在那几度里，就会使他们在一切交往中卑污，常被交付监狱与公共羁押，并因罪行而陷入悲惨的危险。倘若月亮被发现在那几度里光正盈长，或光满，它使他们在心智与身体上都虚浮。但倘若它的光亏减，就以恶性的体液败坏全身，或使他们患水肿，或因青灰的苍白而形貌损毁，或至少判定疯癫。

The Ascendant in the Terms of Jupiter.

上升点在木星之界

[5] If the Ascendant has been found in the terms of Jupiter, it decrees all the ornaments of virtue and wisdom. But if Jupiter has been found in those terms, it will make men great-souled, but armed with the heat of cruelty. If Saturn or Mars has been found in those degrees, and it is a day nativity, it will make them faithless and men who never fulfill the pledge of their promises, feigning wisdom and thinking themselves wise, lowly in life and weighed down by the wretched squalor of sadness. But if it has been found in these terms by day, all these things are mitigated in some measure.

〔五〕倘若上升点被发现在木星之界，就判定德行与智慧的一切装饰。但倘若木星被发现在这界里，就会使人心胸宏大，却以残忍的热度武装起来。倘若土星或火星被发现在那几度里，而本命盘是白天的，就会使他们不守信义，从不履行诺言的保证，假装有智慧，自以为聪明，生活卑下，被悲伤的可悲污秽压着。但倘若它是白天在这界里被发现，这一切就在某种程度上减轻。

[6] If Venus has been found in these degrees, it will make men apt for every duty of goodness, but in marriage a prosperous outcome never follows them. They will be kindly, reaping the fruit of all good things from constant felicity. If Mercury has been found in these terms, it will make men always adorned with good character and removed from all malice, who understand everything simply and who are seen to deliberate about a great many matters. If the Moon has been found in these terms, it decrees all the ornaments of felicity, renders a good constitution of the body, and grants health, with the defects of ill health shut out. If the Sun has been found in those degrees, it decrees in a like manner these same things that the Moon does.

〔六〕倘若金星被发现在这几度里，就会使人适合一切善良的职分，但在婚姻上从不会有顺遂的结局跟随他们。他们会仁慈，从不断的幸福中收获一切美好事物的果实。倘若水星被发现在这界里，就会使人总以良好的品格为饰，远离一切恶意，单纯地理解一切，看起来对非常多的事情都在斟酌。倘若月亮被发现在这界里，就判定幸福的一切装饰，给予身体良好的体质，并赐予健康，把病患的缺损关在门外。倘若太阳被发现在那几度里，就以同样的方式判定月亮所判定的这些事。

The Ascendant in the Terms of Mars.

上升点在火星之界

[7] If the Ascendant has been found in the terms of Mars, it will make men always adorned with a sharp spirit. If Saturn is in those terms, it will make them likewise sharp, but men whose angers persist in perpetual indignation. If Jupiter is in those terms, it will make them likewise sharp, but men who wish to provide everything for everyone. If Mars has been found in its own terms in the Ascendant, and it is a day nativity, it makes them approach every outrage of crime with the depraved greed of frenzy; it makes them rash, but entangled in frequent chances of misfortune, and men worn down by the burden of constant labor. But if it is a night nativity, it will make them strong, cruel, irreligious, rapacious, and men who destroy the property of others by various kinds of rending.

〔七〕倘若上升点被发现在火星之界，就会使人总以敏锐的精神为饰。倘若土星在这界里，会使他们同样敏锐，但怒气以永久的义愤持续。倘若木星在这界里，会使他们同样敏锐，却愿意为所有人提供一切。倘若火星在自己的界里被发现在上升点，而本命盘是白天的，就使他们以狂乱的邪恶贪欲去犯一切罪恶的暴行；使他们鲁莽，却陷入频繁的不幸遭遇，被经常劳苦的重担磨损。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，就会使他们刚强、残忍、不敬神、贪婪掠夺，以种种撕扯毁掉他人的财物。

[8] If the Sun has been found in those degrees, it will make them cunning, but men who are both sought out and overwhelmed by plots. If Venus has been found in those degrees, it always prompts a desire for adulteries and causes those same adulteries to be committed, and renders men such as cultivate themselves for every kind of beauty, so that they are called handsome, and men on whom every profit is conferred from the affections of men. If Mercury has been found in those degrees, it will make strong murderers, men who with the wicked greed of lust desire unlawful intercourse with boys, extravagant, prodigal, men in whom no sign of truthfulness is ever found, ingenious, always dancing wantonly in drunkenness, and who strive to pay out their expenses without plan or arrangement.

〔八〕倘若太阳被发现在那几度里，就会使他们狡猾，却既被算计盯上，又被算计压倒。倘若金星被发现在那几度里，就总激起通奸的欲望，并使这些通奸得以犯下，还使人以一切种类的美来修饰自己，以致被称为俊美，一切利益都从男人们的情意授予他们。倘若水星被发现在那几度里，就会造就强悍的杀人者，以邪恶的情欲贪求与男童不法交合的人，奢侈、挥霍，在他们身上找不到任何诚实的迹象，机巧，总在醉中放荡地跳舞，竭力毫无计划、毫无安排地花钱。

[9] If the Moon has been found in those degrees, it will make men who assail their adversaries in various ways, and who in turn are assailed by those same adversaries in similar ways [text uncertain]; they are also weighed down by the labors of constant toil, and men on whom the bitter pain of a wound from fire or from iron is inflicted. But if it is a day nativity and the Moon is full of light, it renders a strong constitution of the body. But if it is a night nativity and the Moon is diminished in light, it will make them strong, men whose body is strengthened with adequate powers, and who are carried about by various and unending upheavals of journeys. But a violent death is always decreed for them.

〔九〕倘若月亮被发现在那几度里，就会造就以种种方式攻击对头、又以类似方式被同样的对头攻击的人〔原文疑有讹误〕；他们还被经常劳作的劳苦压着，火或铁造成的伤口之痛会加在他们身上。但倘若本命盘是白天的，而月亮光满，就给予强健的体质。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，而月亮光亏，就会使他们刚强，身体以足够的力量强健，被种种无尽的旅途动荡带来带去。但横死总被判定给他们。

The Ascendant in the Terms of Venus.

上升点在金星之界

[10] If the Ascendant has been found in the terms of Venus, it will make musicians or lovers of music, good, kindly, benevolent, gentle, and men who wish to be of use to all men. But if it is a day nativity, and Venus itself has been found in those degrees, it decrees the insignia of great ranks, joins them in deserved friendship with powerful men or emperors, and decrees also the increases of a prosperous offspring.

〔十〕倘若上升点被发现在金星之界，就会造就乐师或爱好音乐的人，善良、仁慈、心怀好意、温和，愿意对所有人有用。但倘若本命盘是白天的，而金星本身被发现在那几度里，就判定大品级的徽章，使他们以应得的友谊与有权势的人或皇帝相结，还判定幸运子嗣的增长。

[11] If Saturn has been found in those terms, and it is a day nativity, it will make them haters of women too, and men who curse the affections of marriage. But if it is a night nativity, it will make them impure, unchaste, sordid, and entangled in the vices of wretched lust, men who cannot come to natural intercourse, but who are carried away against nature by a perverse frenzy of lust. They will always wander with various and changeable plans, and will be such as always curse all good men with bitter hatreds. If Jupiter has been found in those terms, it will make them tender, lustful, and luxurious, but removed from all the malice of cruelty, men who aspire to every duty of moderation [text uncertain], skilled in the arts, renowned, and men who obtain the insignia of honors in the temples.

〔十一〕倘若土星被发现在这界里，而本命盘是白天的，就会使他们也憎恨女人，咒骂婚姻的情意。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，就会使他们不洁、不贞、卑污，陷于可悲情欲的恶习，不能行自然的交合，而被一种颠倒的情欲狂乱带向违反自然。他们总以种种多变的计划游移不定，总以苦毒的仇恨咒骂一切好人。倘若木星被发现在这界里，就会使他们柔弱、好色、奢侈，却远离一切残忍的恶意，追求一切节制的职分〔原文疑有讹误〕，精于技艺，有名声，在神庙里得到荣誉的徽章。

[12] If Mars has been found in those terms, and it is a day nativity, it decrees the troubles of sudden disturbance, throws the settled orders of life into confusion, always pursues the native with popular sedition, or decrees various troubles of dangers on account of women. It will certainly make musicians always devoted to sweet instruments, or men given to the poetic arts, or at any rate it will produce sculptors or decorators or mechanics; it decrees a subtle talent for those arts. But if it is a night nativity, and Mars has been found in those terms, it will give marriage with a most powerful and most noble woman, so that through her a magnificent abundance of riches is conferred on him. But he will be tormented by the pain of anxiety from excessive jealousy.

〔十二〕倘若火星被发现在这界里，而本命盘是白天的，就判定突然骚乱的困扰，打乱生活安定的秩序，总以民众的暴动追逐本命之人，或因女人而判定种种危险的困扰。它当然会造就总献身于甜美乐器的乐师，或献身于诗艺的人，或至少造就雕刻师、装饰匠或机械匠；它判定对这些技艺的精巧才能。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，而火星被发现在这界里，它会给予与一位极有权势、极高贵的女人的婚姻，以致借着她，豪奢丰盛的财富授予他。但他会因过度的嫉妒而受忧虑之痛的折磨。

[13] If the Sun has been found in those terms, it decrees prosperous activities on a constant principle. But from marriage it will give the troubles of wretched discord. It will give gains and joins them in deserved friendship with powerful men, so that they shine forth through the favorable recommendations of the most powerful men. If Mercury has been found in those terms, it will make men lustful, yet always adorned with goodness of character, wise and striving to be of use to all; grammarians, astrologers, diviners, poets, men whose tales are adorned with the grace of charm, agreeable, lovable, and adorned with the splendors of all learning, and who bring forth many things by the power of their own talent; orators, but adorned with a noble abundance of speech, or poets shining with the splendor of divine song, whose speeches or poems are committed to memory by the judgment of posterity.

〔十三〕倘若太阳被发现在这界里，就以不变的道理判定顺遂的作为。但它会从婚姻带来可悲不和的困扰。它会给予收益，并使他们以应得的友谊与有权势的人相结，以致他们借着最有权势之人的有利推荐而大放光彩。倘若水星被发现在这界里，就会使人好色，却总以良好的品格为饰，有智慧，竭力对所有人有用；文法家、占星家、占卜者、诗人，他们的故事以魅力的恩惠为饰，讨人喜欢，可爱，以一切学问的光彩为饰，凭自己才能的力量创出许多东西；演说家，却以高贵丰沛的言辞为饰，或以神圣诗歌的光彩闪耀的诗人，他们的演说或诗篇会因后世的评判而被铭记。

[14] If the Moon has been found in those degrees, it makes men skilled in the arts and always aspiring to elegant crafts; it makes sculptors, but such as the grace of their work commends. But it decrees these things if it is a day nativity. But if it is a night nativity and the Moon has been found so, it will give the supports of life from activities on the water, or from trade, or from fishing, but it makes them cut off from every duty of partnership. It renders them jealous, but adorned with goodness of mind, and men who settle everything with balanced moderation.

〔十四〕倘若月亮被发现在那几度里，就使人精于技艺，总追求精致的手艺；造就雕刻师，而且是作品的魅力为之推荐的雕刻师。但它是在本命盘为白天时判定这些。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，而月亮这样被发现，它会从水上的作为、或从经商、或从捕鱼给予生活之助，却使他们与一切合伙的职分隔绝。它使他们好嫉妒，却以心地良善为饰，以均衡的节度安排一切。

The Ascendant in the Terms of Mercury.

上升点在水星之界

[15] If the Ascendant has been found in the terms of Mercury, it will make men of letters, and men who carry out the business entrusted to them with the most faithful service, learned and always adorned with right judgment, curators or leading men of cities set over the public accounts, fiscal officers, and men who exact the payments due to the treasury with always faithful service. But if Mercury has been found in the very degrees in which the Ascendant is, it will make astrologers, mathematicians, haruspices, and men who learn thoroughly all things to come by some method, but always adorned with every duty of virtue, and men on whom honor is conferred by men on account of this knowledge.

〔十五〕倘若上升点被发现在水星之界，就会造就文人，以最忠实的服务执行托付给他们的事务的人，有学问、总以正确的判断为饰的人，城市的督办或首领，掌管公家账目的人，财务官，以总是忠实的服务征收应缴国库之款的人。但倘若水星就被发现在上升点所在的那几度里，就会造就占星家、数学家、脏卜师，以某种方法彻底学到一切未来之事的人，却总以德行的一切职分为饰，人们因这种知识而授予他们荣誉。

[16] If Saturn has been found in those terms, it will make men unfortunate, bitter, silent, who always hold back the order of their words with a certain restraint of speech, and who keep secrets in faithful silence, slow to advance in everything, laboring strenuously, and men who always insinuate an evil reputation among the people. For they will be poisoners, men whose malice extends to every venom of poison, persisting in their angers with perpetual indignation until they have been avenged either by chance or by their own deserving; watchful, content with necessary moderation, and accustomed to foretell everything that is to come, so that conditions both future and present are made known to them through dreams by manifest revelations; but men who in their plans go on to every onrush of rashness.

〔十六〕倘若土星被发现在这界里，就会使人不幸、苦涩、沉默，总以某种言辞上的克制搁住话语的次序，以忠实的缄默守住秘密，在一切事上进展迟缓，劳苦努力，总在民众中散播坏名声。因为他们会是下毒者，他们的恶意及于一切毒药的毒液，以永久的义愤坚持怒气，直到他们或凭机运、或凭自己应得的而报了仇；他们警觉，满足于必要的节度，惯于预告一切将来之事，以致将来与现在的情形都借梦境以明白的启示告知他们；但他们在计划中会走向一切鲁莽的冲动。

[17] If Jupiter has been found in those degrees, it will make jurists, physicians, patrons, advocates, and men so experienced in forensic affairs that the affairs of powerful men depend on their intercession. They will certainly be known to the populace, but always given to adulteries, so that they both desire adulteries and always accomplish them. Those born by night it will make agents, others notaries, but glorious and always adorned with good testimony, so that the favor of this testimony endures for them up to the last day of life.

〔十七〕倘若木星被发现在那几度里，就会造就法学家、医生、庇护人、辩护人，以及极熟于诉讼之事的人，以致有权势之人的事务依赖他们的说情。他们当然为民众所知，却总沉溺于通奸，以致总渴求通奸，也总犯下通奸。夜里出生的，它会造就代理人，另一些人则是公证人，却荣耀，总以良好的证言为饰，以致这份证言的恩惠为他们一直持续到一生的最后一天。

[18] But if Mars has been found in those degrees, and it is a day nativity, it will make them evil, malicious, malignant, men who contend in constant quarrels, cruel, rash, men softened by no considerations of humanity, clamorous, shameless, perverse with insane frenzy, men who reject everything through the vice of satiety, fickle and moved by everyone with the easiest persuasions, swindlers, executioners, and men who conceive every crime with an impious heat of mind. But if it is a night nativity, all these things grow milder in some measure.

〔十八〕但倘若火星被发现在那几度里，而本命盘是白天的，就会使他们邪恶、恶毒、恶性，在不断的争吵中相斗，残忍、鲁莽，不被任何人情的道理软化，吵闹、无耻，因疯狂的狂乱而颠倒，因餍足之恶而厌弃一切，轻浮，被每个人以最容易的劝说打动，骗子、刽子手，以不虔的心智热度谋划一切罪行。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，这一切就在某种程度上变得温和。

[19] But if the Sun has been found in those degrees, it will make men renowned and noble, always adorned with popular acclaim, whose nobility runs through the whole extent of the city, and whom the people recognize for the defense of their intercession. They will certainly handle the duties of many activities. But if, with the Sun in the terms of Mercury in the Ascendant, as we have said, Mercury itself has been found, they will be such as accomplish everything by the principle of right counsel, and who are preferred to all for the grace of their incorruptible wisdom.

〔十九〕但倘若太阳被发现在那几度里，就会使人显赫高贵，总以民众的称誉为饰，他们的高贵传遍整个城市，民众因他们说情的护卫而认得他们。他们当然会经办许多作为的职事。但倘若太阳在上升点的水星之界里，如我们所说，而水星本身也被发现在那里，他们会是凭正确谋划之理完成一切的人，因不可败坏的智慧之恩而被置于众人之上。

[20] If Venus has been found in those degrees, it does the things that we showed Mercury does in the degrees of Venus. It will make men great, fortunate, agreeable, who easily obtain everything, and who persuade the multitude of everything they wish by popular oratory, cheerful, learned, elegant, lovers of music, poets, but such that their poems are adorned with the splendor of nobility, and men on whom the substance of felicity is conferred from the misfortunes of others.

〔二十〕倘若金星被发现在那几度里，它所做的，就是我们显示过水星在金星的度数里所做的事。它会使人伟大、幸运、讨人喜欢，轻易得到一切，以面向民众的演说说服众人接受他们所想要的一切，愉快、有学问、雅致、爱好音乐，诗人，而他们的诗以高贵的光彩为饰，幸福的资财会从他人的不幸授予他们。

[21] But if the Moon has been found in the terms of Mercury, and it is a day nativity, it will make craftsmen, but such as are preferred to all craftsmen. But if it is a night nativity, it decrees the practice of all the arts, and men who delight in all exercises, ingenious, men who handle trade in foreign wares, knowing everything, men who are carried hither and thither for various reasons, and who despise all pains with a certain dissimulation.

〔二十一〕但倘若月亮被发现在水星之界，而本命盘是白天的，就会造就工匠，而且是被置于一切工匠之上的工匠。但倘若本命盘是夜间的，就判定一切技艺的职事，乐于一切锻炼的人，机巧，经营外邦货物买卖的人，通晓一切，因种种缘故被带到这里那里，以某种掩饰蔑视一切痛苦。
