VIII. Mercury with the Sun.

第八章　水星与太阳

[1] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the Ascendant by day will make kings, generals, and powerful men; but if they have been found partilely in this place by night, they make the father degenerate and ignoble; and the natives will be in public arts, but hidden and wretched ones, according to the nature and quality of the signs.

〔一〕水星在白天与太阳精确地同在上升点，会造就君王、将领与有权势的人；但倘若它们在夜间被发现精确地在这个宫位，就使父亲堕落而出身卑微；本命之人会从事公开的技艺，却是隐蔽而可怜的技艺，按星座的本性与性质而定。

[2] The Sun and Mercury placed partilely in the second place from the Ascendant decree an increase of patrimony and the leadership of certain affairs.

〔二〕太阳与水星精确地落在从上升点起的第二宫，判定祖产的增长与对某些事务的领导之权。

[3] The Sun and Mercury placed in the third place from the Ascendant make haruspices, interpreters of dreams, physicians, diviners, augurs, students of the stars, astrologers, and men who always foretell the future, but men whose art and pursuit is brought to the notice of all.

〔三〕太阳与水星落在从上升点起的第三宫，会造就脏卜师、解梦人、医师、占卜者、鸟卜师、观星者、星占家，以及总能预言未来的人，而他们的技艺与学业为众人所知。

[4] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the fourth place from the Ascendant, that is, in the lower Midheaven, will make men ignoble and skilled in hidden or forbidden arts, yet honorable and grave. But if they have been so placed in the fourth place of the nativity, it must above all be considered in which sign they are placed and who is the lord of that sign; for it is especially dangerous if Mercury placed in this place has been found in the house of Saturn.

〔四〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第四宫，即地底中天，会使人出身卑微，精于隐秘或被禁的技艺，却可敬而庄重。但倘若它们这样落在本命的第四宫，首先必须考虑它们落在哪个星座、谁是那个星座的主；因为倘若落在这个宫位的水星被发现在土星的庙里，就格外危险。

[5] The Sun placed partilely with Mercury in the fifth place from the Ascendant will make men noble, and men who accomplish everything easily, but dangerous men, who do not have lasting good fortune, and who deceive many with easy skill.

〔五〕太阳与水星精确地落在从上升点起的第五宫，会使人高贵，凡事轻易成就，却是危险的人，好运不能长久，又以轻巧的技艺欺骗许多人。

[6] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the sixth place from the Ascendant will make men ignoble, slaves, toilers, sluggards, men whose fathers are unknown, bereft of their parents, slow in their actions, and men who can attain nothing, if no planet has been found in the 10th place from the Ascendant. But if some planet has been found in the 10th place from the Ascendant, the insignia of riches, free birth, and glory are conferred, especially if a benefic planet has been found in the tenth place.

〔六〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第六宫，倘若从上升点起的第十宫没有发现行星，会使人出身卑微，做奴隶、做苦工、懒惰，父亲不明，失去父母，行事迟缓，什么也得不到。但倘若从上升点起的第十宫发现某颗行星，就赐予财富、自由身分与荣耀的徽章，尤其是倘若第十宫被发现的是一颗吉星。

[7] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the seventh place from the Ascendant, that is, in the Descendant, if it has been found in this place by day, will cause the greatest affairs and powers to be entrusted to the one so born, but it will make the natives themselves perish by a violent death. But if it has been placed partilely in this place by night, it will make them suffer many evils, toiling and seeking their food by daily labor, and always occupied in evil and mean actions; for their arts will be either mean, or squalid, or of a heavy smell, and arts in which continual night work is demanded of those who practice them, such as are leather-dressers, fullers, wool-workers, bakers, cooks, and the like; yet it will make them suffer from the stomach or afflicted with defects in the first stage of life.

〔七〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第七宫，即下降点，倘若在白天被发现在这个宫位，会使最重大的事务与权力托付给这样出生的人，却会使本命之人自己横死。但倘若它在夜间精确地落在这个宫位，就会使人遭受许多祸患，劳苦度日，以每天的劳作谋求食物，总忙于坏而卑贱的营生；因为他们的技艺或者卑贱、或者肮脏、或者气味浓重，是要从业者不断熬夜做工的技艺，如制革匠、漂洗匠、毛纺工、面包师、厨子之类；但它还会使他们胃有毛病，或在人生的第一阶段就带有缺损。

[8] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the eighth place from the Ascendant will make men disabled, afflicted with defects, and men who are easily deceived; but [probably: by night,] [lacuna] placed in this place make a violent death and frequently decree madness.

〔八〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第八宫，会使人残疾、带有缺损，容易受骗；但〔推测：在夜间〕〔此处原文有缺〕落在这个宫位，造成横死，并常判定疯狂。

[9] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the ninth place from the Ascendant will make exorcists, and men who free with remedies those who suffer from the onset of daemons, so that by these arts the greatest substance of livelihood is conferred on them.

〔九〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第九宫，会造就驱魔者，以及用药方解救受邪灵侵袭之人的人，以致凭这些技艺赐给他们极大的生计资财。

[10] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the tenth place from the Ascendant, that is, in the Midheaven, in the signs in which it rejoices or in which it is exalted, will by day make lords of the whole world, or men placed over many and very great provinces by the merit of their power, especially if Jupiter has lent them good testimony.

〔十〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第十宫，即中天，在水星所喜乐或所旺的星座里，白天会造就全世界的主宰，或凭权力之功被置于许多极大行省之上的人，尤其是倘若木星给了它们好的见证。

[11] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the eleventh place from the Ascendant: they decree increases of good fortune in the course of life.

〔十一〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第十一宫：它们判定在一生的进程中好运增长。

[12] Mercury placed partilely with the Sun in the twelfth place from the Ascendant will make men poor, unfortunate, and slaves, who always perish abroad.

〔十二〕水星与太阳精确地落在从上升点起的第十二宫，会使人贫穷、不幸，做奴隶，总是客死他乡。

IX. Saturn and Mercury.

第九章　土星与水星

[1] Mercury and Saturn placed partilely in the degree of the Ascendant in a day nativity make hiders of money, advocates, or men skilled in the law, or scribes, but feeble men who fail quickly. But if they have been placed in this place by night, they will make slaves or captives out of free men and hand them over to powerful men to serve them by reason of captivity. But if Saturn and Mercury have been found partilely in a feminine sign, in the Ascendant of course, in a night nativity, they will make eunuchs, or men without seed who cannot have intercourse, base, infamous, impure, shameless catamites.

〔一〕水星与土星在白天的本命盘里精确地落在上升点之度，会造就藏匿钱财的人、辩护人、或精通法律的人、或书记，却是孱弱而很快衰败的人。但倘若它们在夜间落在这个宫位，就会使自由人沦为奴隶或俘虏，把他们交给有权势的人，因被俘而服侍他们。但倘若土星与水星在夜间的本命盘里被发现精确地落在阴性星座，当然是在上升点，就会造就阉人，或无精、不能交合的男人，卑鄙、声名狼藉、不洁、无耻的娈宠。

[2] Mercury placed together with Saturn in the second place from the Ascendant in a day nativity will make herbalist physicians and men through whom health is procured for men, but also rich men, famous in their actions. And according to the quality of the signs they will frequently be orators or procurators of powerful men. But if they have been found in this place by night, they will make beggars, naked men, madmen, or temple slaves; frequently too they will cause them to be accused and placed in custody, yet always mournful, without children, and disabled in some part of the body or entangled in certain defects.

〔二〕水星与土星在白天的本命盘里一同落在从上升点起的第二宫，会造就用草药的医师，以及为人求得健康的人，却也是富有、行事出名的人。按星座的性质，他们还常是演说家或有权势者的代理人。但倘若它们在夜间被发现在这个宫位，就会造就乞丐、赤身的人、疯人或神庙奴仆；它们还常使人被控告、被羁押，却总是悲戚、无子，身体某处残疾或陷入某些缺损。

[3] Mercury placed partilely with Saturn in the third place from the Ascendant will make divers, men who draw water from deep wells, gardeners, stewards of small country estates, or preparers of corpses and undertakers, or guardians of dead bodies, or doorkeepers of tombs.

〔三〕水星与土星精确地落在从上升点起的第三宫，会造就潜水者、从深井里汲水的人、园丁、乡间小庄园的管家，或殡葬整容者与送葬者，或尸体的看守，或坟墓的守门人。

[4] Mercury placed partilely with Saturn in the fourth place from the Ascendant, that is, in the lower Midheaven, will make teachers of forbidden or hidden arts, or those privy to them, but evil men who seek their daily living from evil arts. And some who have Mercury so with Saturn will either be in custody or are condemned in some way; but all their actions vary according to the nature and quality of the signs and according to the condition of the other planets.

〔四〕水星与土星精确地落在从上升点起的第四宫，即地底中天，会造就被禁或隐秘技艺的教师，或知其秘密的人，却是从邪恶技艺中谋求每日生计的恶人。有些这样得水星与土星的人，或者被羁押，或者以某种方式被定罪；但他们的一切行事都随星座的本性与性质、并随其他行星的状况而变化。

[5] Saturn and Mercury placed together in the fifth place from the Ascendant will cause those who are so born frequently to change their dwellings, and will make them overseers of the grain supply, or of crops, or of certain places, or overseers of gems, or of pearls, or of spices, or of metals; they will also make sculptors of sacred images.

〔五〕土星与水星一同落在从上升点起的第五宫，会使这样出生的人常常迁居，并造就粮食供应、或庄稼、或某些地方的主管，或宝石、或珍珠、或香料、或金属的主管；它们还会造就神圣雕像的雕刻匠。

[6] Mercury and Saturn placed partilely in the sixth and in the 12th place from the Ascendant decree the same things in a like manner. For if they have been found in these places by day, they will make men knowing in many branches of learning, strong in the teaching of hidden arts, and men who wish to know everything there is in human affairs, but certainly malicious, envious, and men who are entangled in defects or ailments. But Saturn and Mercury placed by night in the 6th and in the 12th place of the nativity will make authors of forged writings, wicked, malicious, malevolent men, and poisoners, but men who are always entangled in the greatest evils and the greatest straits. But if Mars has aspected Mercury and Saturn so placed in these places, whether by day or by night, by some aspect, either by square or by opposition, it will cause men entangled in inescapable evil to be punished by the penalty of a public death.

〔六〕水星与土星精确地落在从上升点起的第六宫与第十二宫，以相同的方式判定同样的事。因为倘若它们在白天被发现在这些宫位，会使人通晓多门学问，在隐秘技艺的教导上有力，想要知道人间的一切事物，但当然也恶意、嫉妒，陷入缺损或病患。但土星与水星在夜间落在本命的第六宫与第十二宫，会造就伪造文书的人、作恶的、恶意的、心怀恶念的人，以及下毒者，却是总陷入极大祸患与极大窘迫的人。但倘若火星在白天或夜间，以某种相位，或四分或对冲，照着这样落在这些宫位的水星与土星，就会使陷入无可逃避之祸的人受公开处死的刑罚。

[7] Mercury and Saturn placed together in the seventh place from the Ascendant, that is, in the Descendant, make heirs of women, and men burning with desires for great resources, and perhaps also lovers of women [text uncertain]. But if they have been found in this place by night, they will make men wretched in every course of life, men who are bound by the greatest debts, yet afflicted with defects and disabled. And they will be malignant and malicious, and some, having been accused, are placed in public custody.

〔七〕水星与土星一同落在从上升点起的第七宫，即下降点，会造就女人的继承人，燃着对巨大资财之欲的人，或许也是爱恋女人的人〔原文疑有讹误〕。但倘若它们在夜间被发现在这个宫位，就会使人在一生的每段行程中都困苦，被极大的债务缠住，却又带有缺损、身有残疾。他们还会阴毒、恶意，有些人被控告后关进公家的羁押之所。

[8] Mercury placed together with Saturn in the eighth place from the Ascendant decrees increases of patrimony and honor in the course of time; and others obtain patrimonies by reason of another's death, yet they will have an ailment either from a stone of the bladder or from a defect of the belly. But placed together in this place by night, they will make men poor, proscribed, feeble, or wrinkled, and men whose humors [lacuna] they will make men perish through loss, if the Moon, waning in light, is moving toward Saturn, or toward Mars when full.

〔八〕水星与土星一同落在从上升点起的第八宫，随着时间推移判定祖产与荣誉的增长；另一些人因别人的死亡而得到祖产，但他们会有膀胱结石或腹部的毛病。但在夜间一同落在这个宫位，会使人贫穷、被公告籍没、孱弱、或满脸皱纹，以及那些体液〔此处原文有缺〕的人；倘若光亏的月亮行向土星，或满月行向火星，它们就会使人因损失而死去。

[9] Mercury placed together with Saturn in the ninth place from the Ascendant will make prophets, or dressers of divine images, or bearers in divine ceremonies.

〔九〕水星与土星一同落在从上升点起的第九宫，会造就先知、或神像的装扮者、或神圣仪式中的抬像人。

[10] Mercury placed together with Saturn in the tenth place from the Ascendant, that is, in the Midheaven, will make heirs to other men's patrimonies, or discoverers of very great things. At times they will be scribes, or agents, or procurators of very great men. But if a benefic planet has seen them so placed, it will make orators of divine talent, or teachers of the oratorical arts, or grammarians, or men placed over all these by the authority of some power, or masters of studies, or masters of the census registers [lacuna] to search out heavenly things; others practice reckoning, others will be either inventors or teachers of difficult writings.

〔十〕水星与土星一同落在从上升点起的第十宫，即中天，会造就他人祖产的继承人，或极重大之事的发现者。他们有时会做书记、或经办人、或极显要之人的代理官。但倘若一颗吉星看见这样落位的它们，就会造就有神妙才华的演说家、或演说之术的教师、或文法家，或凭某种权力的授权被置于这一切人之上的人，或学业的主管，或户籍册的主管〔此处原文有缺〕探究天上之事；另一些人从事计算，另一些人会是艰深著述的发明者或教师。

[11] Saturn and Mercury placed together in the eleventh place of the nativity from the Ascendant decree those things which we said they decree in the fifth place.

〔十一〕土星与水星一同落在本命从上升点起的第十一宫，判定我们说过它们在第五宫所判定的那些事。

[12] What Mercury and Saturn decree when placed partilely in the twelfth place of the nativity from the Ascendant, the sixth place of the nativity has explained more clearly.

〔十二〕水星与土星精确地落在本命从上升点起的第十二宫所判定的，本命的第六宫已经解释得更清楚了。
