II. On the Star of Saturn.

[1] Saturn placed partilely in the Ascendant by day, that is, if it is in the same degree as the Ascendant, will make the birth take place with a very great outcry. And the one who is born will be the eldest of all his brothers, or, if anyone was born before him, he is separated from his parents. And this god, placed by day in any of the four angles, will always make the natives either the first-born or the first-reared, or will make the brothers who were born before them [probably: perish; and it] [lacuna] makes them puffed up and lifted high by the spirit of pride.

〔一〕土星在白天精确到度地落在上升点，就是说，倘若它与上升点同度，会使分娩在极大的喊叫中进行。这个出生的人将是所有兄弟中最年长的，或者，倘若有谁生在他之前，他就与父母分离。这位神在白天落在四角中的任何一角，总会使本命之人或是头生的，或是头一个被养大的，或者使生在他们之前的兄弟〔推测：死去；它又〕〔此处原文有缺〕使他们自满，被骄傲之气抬得高高的。

[2] But if, when Saturn is placed in the Ascendant by day, Mars has occupied another angle of the nativity or is in the succedent of an angle, it signifies the coming of many evils. For it will bring the greatest dangers and the ruin of the patrimony; and frequently, if no benefic planet placed in a good place of the nativity has joined itself to them by a strong aspect, and if Mars has received the rays of the waxing Moon, it makes them die a violent death.

〔二〕但倘若土星在白天落在上升点时，火星占据了本命的另一角，或在一个角的续宫里，就预示许多祸患的到来。因为它会带来极大的危险和祖产的败坏；常常，倘若没有一颗落在本命好宫位的吉星以有力的相位与它们相连，而火星又接受了正盈月亮的光线，它就使他们横死。

[3] But if Saturn is placed by night in the degree of the Ascendant, the one who has it so is hampered by the gravest illnesses and is always weighed down by great toil. To some it will give occupations connected with water, yet in such a way that they are always worn down by toilsome ways of life.

〔三〕但倘若土星在夜间落在上升点之度，这样得它的人就被极重的疾病所阻碍，总被大劳苦压着。它给有些人与水有关的职业，但总使他们被劳苦的生计磨损。

[4] When Saturn occupies the second place from the Ascendant, it brings serious sicknesses and the greatest ruin. It is also the destroyer of wife and children and the stirrer-up of very great and frequent troubles, and it squanders the father's and the mother's property as well. The native himself it makes rather slow in all his actions, and on some it imposes lasting bodily ailments.

〔四〕土星占据从上升点起的第二宫时，带来严重的疾病和极大的覆败。它也是妻子与子女的毁灭者，是极大而频繁的纷扰的挑起者，还挥霍父亲和母亲的家产。至于出生的人本身，它使他在一切行事上都较迟缓，又给有些人加上终身的身体病患。

[5] But if, with Saturn so placed, Mars is in any angle of the nativity and sees the Sun by square or by opposition, or aspects the waxing Moon in the same way, it will make them wretched, poor, destitute, and men who expose their bodies to daily labors.

〔五〕但倘若土星这样落位时，火星在本命的任何一角，并以四分或对冲看着太阳，或以同样的方式照着正盈的月亮，它就使他们悲惨、贫穷、一无所有，成为把身体交给每日苦役的人。

[6] But if it is by day in the second sign from the Ascendant, it will give increase to the patrimony slowly and by degrees, but it renders the natives secretive, retiring, and poor in spirit, always denying that they have anything. To some it grants the means of life from activities on the water or from business with liquids.

〔六〕但倘若它在白天落在从上升点起的第二个星座，它会缓慢地、一步步地给祖产增益，但使本命之人隐秘、退缩、心里贫乏，总是否认自己有什么。它给有些人从水上的活动或液体的生意中得来生计。

[7] Saturn placed in the third sign from the Ascendant makes the natives sluggish, slow, and caring nothing for the substance of the patrimony. But if it is in this place with Mercury and the Moon, it will make them malicious together with foolishness, hurling sacrilegious words against the divinity, always losing their patrimony, thieves, but thieves whom success never follows in their thieving. But if, with these so placed, Mars has joined itself in any way, it will make them accusers, informers, evil, malevolent, envious, malicious, and always perishing by an evil death.

〔七〕土星落在从上升点起的第三个星座，使本命之人懒散、迟缓，毫不在意祖产的实质。但倘若它在这个宫位与水星和月亮同在，就使他们愚蠢而又恶毒，向神灵抛出亵渎的言辞，总是失去祖产，做贼，却是行窃从来不得顺利结果的贼。但倘若这些星这样落位时，火星以任何方式与之相连，就使他们成为控告者、告密者，邪恶、心怀恶意、嫉妒、恶毒，总是以恶死告终。

[8] Saturn placed partilely in the fourth place from the Ascendant, that is, in the lower Midheaven, if it holds this place by day, will make the natives greedy for money, guardians of gold and silver. But if it is in this sign by night, it squanders the father's patrimony and will bring about the early death of the father, as well as serious sicknesses and cold shiverings of the body, and will always make the native disreputable in early life.

〔八〕土星精确到度地落在从上升点起的第四宫，即地底中天，倘若它在白天占据这个宫位，会使本命之人贪钱，成为金银的看守者。但倘若它在夜间在这个星座，就挥霍父亲的祖产，使父亲早死，还带来严重的疾病和身体的寒战，并总使本命之人在早年声名不佳。

[9] But if it sees the Moon from square or from opposition, or if the Moon is placed in the same degree as itself, it will bring about barrenness of children; it compels the native to adopt the children of others, or makes him a guardian of orphans, and disfigures him with the defect of a lasting ailment arising from hidden pains. It soon makes the native's mother a widow and will inflict on her serious ailments from women's complaints and makes her afflicted with lasting pains of the stomach.

〔九〕但倘若它从四分或对冲看着月亮，或者月亮与它同度，它就使人无子；它迫使本命之人收养别人的子女，或使他做孤儿的监护人，并以隐痛造成的终身病患损毁他。它很快使本命之人的母亲守寡，给她带来妇科的重病，使她受长期胃痛之苦。

[10] Saturn placed in the fifth place from the Ascendant, if it is in this place by day, will make kings and generals and grants the greatest insignia of power. But if, with Saturn so placed, the Sun is found in the degree of the Ascendant and Saturn has received the conjunction of the waxing Moon, it bestows lasting good fortune and decrees the ornaments of greater powers. But if, with Saturn so placed, not the Sun but Jupiter is in the Ascendant, it will make magistrates of lesser rank and men to whom the government of individual cities is entrusted, and it will make them masters of a very great patrimony, so that they can support others too from their wealth. But if neither the Sun nor Jupiter is in the Ascendant, and Saturn has received the conjunction of the waxing Moon and is placed in the fifth place, it will give substance and inheritances; yet they will frequently be without a wife, or are joined in marriages unworthy of them.

〔十〕土星落在从上升点起的第五宫，倘若它在白天在这个宫位，会造就君王与将领，并赐予权力的最大徽章。但倘若土星这样落位时，太阳被发现在上升点之度，而土星又接受了正盈月亮的会合，它就赐予长久的幸福，判定更大权力的装饰。但倘若土星这样落位时，在上升点的不是太阳而是木星，它就造就较低级别的官员，以及受托治理各个城市的人，并使他们成为极大祖产的主人，以致他们也能用自己的财富供养别人。但倘若太阳和木星都不在上升点，而土星接受了正盈月亮的会合、落在第五宫，它就给予资财与遗产；不过他们常常没有妻子，或结成与自己不相称的婚姻。

[11] But if Saturn holds this place of the nativity by night, as age advances it assigns its owner some small share of good fortune, but it makes his strength inconstant and shows the man to be slow and sluggish in all his actions; and some, if the waning Moon has joined itself to it, it makes lose their patrimony and squander in wretched dissipation whatever had been acquired before.

〔十一〕但倘若土星在夜间占据本命的这个宫位，它随着年岁增长分给它的主人一小份幸福，但使他的力量不稳定，并显示这个人在一切行事上迟缓而懒散；而有些人，倘若亏缺的月亮与它相连，它就使他们失去祖产，把先前所得的一切在可悲的挥霍中丧尽。

[12] Saturn placed in the sixth place from the Ascendant squanders the whole patrimony; for it is always badly placed in this place. It also brings sicknesses, especially if the waning Moon has joined itself to it, or if the waning Moon aspects it by opposition, or if the waning Moon is square to it; it will make the natives unfortunate, disreputable, and wanderers who can never stay in one place.

〔十二〕土星落在从上升点起的第六宫，挥霍全部祖产；因为它在这个宫位总是落位不佳。它也带来疾病，尤其是倘若亏缺的月亮与它相连，或亏缺的月亮以对冲照着它，或亏缺的月亮与它成四分；它会使本命之人不幸、声名不佳，成为永远不能在一处安住的流浪者。

[13] But if Mars aspects Saturn so placed either from square or from opposition, or is with it in the same sign, it will bring hidden pains of the body, or make them consumptive or dysenteric, and, if the aspect of no benefic planet has softened them so placed, it will make the natives perish of these ailments.

〔十三〕但倘若火星以四分或对冲照着这样落位的土星，或与它同在一个星座，它就带来身体的隐痛，或使他们患痨病、痢疾；倘若没有任何吉星的相位缓和这样落位的他们，它就使本命之人死于这些病患。

[14] Saturn placed in the seventh place from the Ascendant, that is, partilely in the Descendant, if it is a morning star, in a day nativity of course, will be good and decrees the greatest substance, but only once they have crossed the threshold of old age; for so placed it grants a very long old age and will make the native a guardian of money; but it imposes hidden pains of the body, for it makes them sufferers from hemorrhoids or men contracted by pain of the sinews.

〔十四〕土星落在从上升点起的第七宫，即精确到度地落在下降点，倘若它是晨星——当然是在白天的本命盘里——就是好的，判定极大的资财，但要到他们跨进老年的门槛时；因为这样落位时，它赐予极长的老年，使本命之人成为钱财的看守者；但它加上身体的隐痛，因为它使他们患痔疮，或因筋痛而蜷缩。

[15] But if it is an evening star in this place, it brings fistulas about the anus and, in the same way, hemorrhoids, especially if Mars aspects it so placed in any way whatever; for it makes them subject to catarrhs, men on whom abscesses frequently arise, and men whom the misfortunes of their wives always wear down with the grievous bitterness of sorrow.

〔十五〕但倘若它在这个宫位是昏星，就带来肛门周围的瘘管，同样也带来痔疮，尤其是倘若火星以任何方式照着这样落位的它；因为它使他们易患黏液流注，常生脓肿，又总被妻子的不幸以沉重的痛苦折磨。

[16] Saturn placed in the eighth place from the Ascendant, if it is so placed by day, grants increase of the patrimony as time and age advance; and for some, when it is placed in this place in the same way, if it is in a sign of Mars or in the terms of Mars, it decrees money from the deaths of others.

〔十六〕土星落在从上升点起的第八宫，倘若它在白天这样落位，随着岁月增长赐予祖产的增益；而对有些人，当它同样落在这个宫位时，倘若它在火星的星座或火星的界里，就判定从别人的死亡中得来的钱财。

[17] But if it is placed in this place by night, it will bring about the ruin of the patrimony; if the Moon aspects it by square or opposition, an evil [lacuna] if, with Saturn so placed, the Moon, placed in a house of Saturn, aspects it with preceding aspects. But if Mars from any side aspects with any aspect whatever the Moon so placed with Saturn, it makes them die a violent death. But if Mars [probably: is not (so placed)] [lacuna] is, and Jupiter aspects the Moon and Saturn placed as we have said with a favorable aspect, it will make them good, of good life and reputation, but always unstable in their affections toward their wives. A good aspect is the trine or the sextile.

〔十七〕但倘若它在夜间落在这个宫位，就造成祖产的覆败；倘若月亮以四分或对冲照着它，一种祸患〔此处原文有缺〕倘若土星这样落位时，落在土星之庙的月亮以先行的相位照着它。但倘若火星从任何一方以任何相位照着与土星这样落位的月亮，就使他们横死。但倘若火星〔推测：不在此位〕〔此处原文有缺〕，而木星以合宜的相位照着如我们所说这样落位的月亮与土星，就使他们良善，生活与名声都好，但对妻子的感情总不稳定。好的相位是三分或六分。

[18] Saturn placed in the ninth place from the Ascendant will make famous magicians, or renowned philosophers, or priests of temples always famous for their reputation in magic; according to the quality of the signs it also makes haruspices, seers, and astrologers always shining with true interpretation, whose responses are as if delivered with a kind of divine authority. Some it will make persevere always in the service of temples, or be overseers of religious rites; at times it renders them diviners and interpreters of dreams, and it frequently makes long-haired philosophers as well.

〔十八〕土星落在从上升点起的第九宫，会造就著名的术士，或有名的哲人，或在法术上总是声名显赫的神庙祭司；按星座的性质，它还造就脏卜师、预言者和总以真实的解释而光彩照人的星占家，他们的答语仿佛是凭某种神圣的权威说出来的。它使有些人终生坚持神庙的崇拜，或做宗教仪式的主管；有时它使他们成为占梦者与解梦人，也常常造就留长发的哲人。

[19] But if it is placed in this place by night, it will bring the anger of the gods and the hatred of emperors, especially if the Moon, with diminished light, is carried toward it in any way. And greater evils are decreed for the native from the gods or from the emperor if Mars from any side aspects Saturn so placed with the Moon; but they are softened if a ray of Jupiter reaches it from a favorable place, and if it is in its own terms, or in the house of the Sun, or in its own exaltation, provided, however, that it joins itself to Jupiter by a trine aspect.

〔十九〕但倘若它在夜间落在这个宫位，就带来诸神的愤怒与皇帝的憎恨，尤其是倘若光亮减损的月亮以任何方式向它行进。倘若火星从任何一方照着与月亮这样同在的土星，本命之人从诸神或从皇帝那里受到的祸患就更大；但倘若木星的光线从合宜的宫位到达它，倘若它在自己的界里、或在太阳的庙里、或在自己的旺，就得到缓和，不过前提是它以三分的相位与木星相连。

[20] Saturn placed in the tenth place from the Ascendant, partilely in the Midheaven, will make emperors, generals, and praetorian prefects. If, with Saturn so placed in the places in which it is exalted, the Sun is placed in the degree of the Ascendant, and Saturn, as we said before, is found in the Midheaven by day, it will make honorable farmers of honorable character, but wealthy ones, whose estates always lie next to the sea, or rivers, or lakes. It will also give the greatest substance, great glory, and inheritances from persons of higher rank, especially if Mars has not joined itself to it, so placed, by any aspect. But if Mars aspects it so placed with a very strong conjunction, it will grant these things we have mentioned in lesser measure.

〔二十〕土星落在从上升点起的第十宫，精确到度地在中天，会造就皇帝、将领与禁卫军长官。倘若土星这样落在它被举起的宫位，太阳又落在上升点之度，而土星如我们前面所说在白天被发现在中天，就会造就体面、品行体面，却也富有的农人，他们的田产总紧挨着海、河或湖。它还给予极大的资财、极大的荣耀，以及来自地位较高之人的遗产，尤其是倘若火星没有以任何相位与这样落位的它相连。但倘若火星以极有力的会合照着这样落位的它，它所赐予的我们提到的这些就较少。

[21] But if it is found in the Midheaven by night, it decrees misfortunes, will bring about the loss of the patrimony, will deny marriage, will deny children, especially if it is found in the sign or the place or the terms of a malefic planet. But if a benefic planet, that is, Jupiter or Venus, aspects Saturn so placed by night with a good aspect, it grants in some measure the things we said just above were denied [text uncertain]. But in particular the star of Saturn placed by night in any of the angles decrees the greatest evils of the nativity; for it destroys wives, lays children low, and always imposes the bitter griefs of bereavement.

〔二十一〕但倘若它在夜间被发现在中天，就判定不幸，造成祖产的丧失，拒绝婚姻，拒绝子女，尤其是倘若它被发现在一颗凶星的星座、宫位或界里。但倘若一颗吉星，即木星或金星，以好的相位照着在夜间这样落位的土星，就在某种程度上赐予我们刚才说被拒绝的那些〔原文疑有讹误〕。但尤其是，土星之星在夜间落在任何一角，都判定本命最大的祸患；因为它毁灭妻子，撂倒子女，总加上丧亲的苦痛。

[22] But if, so placed, it has received the conjunction of the waning Moon, the one who has Saturn so will be worn out by the burden of poverty, so that he scarcely has the food of daily life, especially if the Moon, placed in a feminine sign and waning in light, has joined itself to Saturn. But if Saturn so placed has received the rays of the waxing Moon, it decrees unevenness of life, so that the one who has Saturn so has no single and uniform course of life, but always turns about in changeable variety.

〔二十二〕但倘若它这样落位时接受了亏缺月亮的会合，这样得土星的人就会被贫穷的重担压垮，以致几乎没有每日生活的食物，尤其是倘若月亮落在阴性星座、光亮亏缺而与土星相连。但倘若土星这样落位而接受了正盈月亮的光线，就判定生活的不均，使这样得土星的人没有单一、一致的人生道路，而总在多变的差异中翻转。

[23] But if, with Saturn so placed, the star of Mercury has associated itself with it, it will give the greatest sharpness of mind and a long duration of life, especially if it is the lord of the nativity or the giver of life. But if the one who is lord of the nativity is opposed to the one who is giver of life, it takes away thirty years from the years that have been decreed; and it decrees still heavier evils whenever it is so placed against the lord of the nativity, whom the Greeks call the oecodespotes, or if it is placed against the giver of life, especially if Mars aspects it with a square or an opposite aspect. For if it is so placed, it will make the natives paralytic, objects of ridicule, hunchbacked, dwarfish, bent, hermaphrodites, and whatever is similar to these; and it decrees these things according to the bodies and substance of the signs.

〔二十三〕但倘若土星这样落位时，水星之星与它结伴，就给予极大的心智敏锐与长久的寿数，尤其是倘若它是本命之主或赐命星。但倘若本命之主与赐命星相对立，它就从判定的年数中减去三十年；每当它这样落位而与本命之主——希腊人称之为「奥科德斯波忒斯」——相对，或与赐命星相对时，它就判定更重的祸患，尤其是倘若火星以四分或对冲的相位照着它。因为倘若它这样落位，就会使本命之人瘫痪、受人嘲笑、驼背、矮小、佝偻、成为两性人，以及与这些相似的一切；它按星座的形体与实质判定这些。

[24] But if, with Saturn so placed, the Moon, separating from it, joins itself to Mars, in night nativities of course, it will make the natives insane, lunatic, melancholic, and sickly. But if Saturn so placed in a night nativity clings to the last horn of the waning Moon, it makes them consumptive.

〔二十四〕但倘若土星这样落位时，月亮离开它而与火星相连——当然是在夜间的本命盘里——就会使本命之人疯狂、癫狂（月病）、忧郁、病弱。但倘若在夜间的本命盘里这样落位的土星，贴在亏缺月亮的最后一角上，就使他们患痨病。

[25] Saturn placed in the eleventh place from the Ascendant decrees moderate goods; and when it has granted something great, it will set the native in the place and in the rank in which his father was set before him, but after the thirtieth year of age; for before the thirtieth year of age he loses whatever he has acquired, nor will he be able to attain rank or patrimony until he has passed the first span of thirty years.

〔二十五〕土星落在从上升点起的第十一宫，判定中等的好处；而当它赐予什么大的东西时，它会把本命之人安置在他父亲先前所处的地位与等级上，但要在三十岁以后；因为在三十岁以前，他所得的一切都会失去，在度过最初三十年之前，他也不能得到地位或祖产。

[26] Saturn placed in the twelfth place from the Ascendant decrees the dangers of a slave uprising or perils on account of slaves, and binds in servitude the one who has it so placed in his nativity; it will also bring the greatest sicknesses, and no slight ailments besides, especially if, with Saturn so placed, the Moon has joined itself to it from any side, and if no benefic planet is placed in the angles of the nativity. For if, with Saturn so placed, a benefic planet is found in any angle of the nativity, these evils we have mentioned are softened in some measure; and all of them will be milder and lighter if Saturn is found so placed by day, but stronger and more violent if it occupies this place in a night nativity.

〔二十六〕土星落在从上升点起的第十二宫，判定奴隶作乱的危险或因奴隶而来的危难，并把本命里这样得它的人束缚在奴役之中；它也会带来极大的疾病，还有不轻的病患，尤其是倘若土星这样落位时，月亮从任何一方与它相连，而本命的四角中又没有吉星。因为倘若土星这样落位时，一颗吉星被发现在本命的任何一角，我们所说的这些祸患就在某种程度上得到缓和；倘若土星在白天被发现这样落位，这一切都会较温和、较轻；但倘若它在夜间的本命盘里占据这个宫位，就较强、较猛烈。

[27] But with Saturn placed in any of these places, investigate its degree carefully, so as to find in which place and in which terms its dodecatemory is situated, so that from the dodecatemory and from the terms of the dodecatemory you may find the whole power of Saturn.

〔二十七〕但土星落在这些宫位中的任何一处时，都要仔细探究它的度数，以找出它的十二分部落在哪个宫位、哪个界里，好让你从十二分部和十二分部的界里找出土星的全部权能。
