[1] In every matter that you begin, look at the planet that is lord of that work.
[2] For sometimes a matter is begun while the benefics regard the Moon and the Ascendant, but the lord of that work is under the beams, or afflicted, or not regarding the Ascendant and in a bad place, and so that work is bad, with no good in it.
[3] If you want to buy land, or to take on an agency for someone, look in that to the strength of Saturn and Jupiter.
[4] If it is taking or giving, a dispute, a transaction, a partnership, a quarrel, friendship, trade, seeking learning, or the like, look in that to the strength of Mercury.
[5] If it is a wedding or marriage, or one of the delicate works of Venus, look in that to the strength of Venus.
[6] If it is war or weapons and what resembles them, look in that to the strength of Mars.
[7] If it is a matter of the ruler, or a matter of kings, or a need before kings, look in that to the strength of Jupiter.
[8] If it is a matter that is manifest and open, in which you want neither concealment nor guile nor evil, [9] look also at the strength of the Sun together with Jupiter. For Jupiter, at all times, when he regards a planet, turns it toward good.
[10] Venus also does this, but not in great matters, unless Jupiter is with her or regards together with her.
[11] The strength of Venus lies in affection between two people, or in food, or perfume, and the like.
