XII. On Knowing Females and Males.

第十二章　论女孩与男孩。

[1] Count the degrees between Jupiter and the Sun and add to it the degrees of the Ascendant; where it reaches, there is the Lot of Male Children.

[1] 数木星到太阳之间的度数，加上上升的度数；数到哪里，男孩点就在哪里。

[2] Count from the Moon to Venus, add to it the degrees of the Ascendant, and cast it out from the Ascendant; where it ends, there is the Lot of Female Children.

[2] 从月亮数到金星，加上上升的度数，从上升起数出去；数到哪里，女孩点就在哪里。

[3] Look at the lords of these two lots and their strength in their places, and know whether his male children will be more numerous and better, or the female.

[3] 看这两个点的点主及其所在位置的力量，就知道他的男孩更多更好，还是女孩更多更好。

[4] If you find Saturn opposite Mercury, it indicates the death of the child.

[4] 若见土星与水星对冲，主子女夭亡。

[5] If you find Venus with Saturn in her opposition, without the regard of Jupiter, he will be barren or have few children.

[5] 若见金星被土星对冲，没有木星相照，他会不育或子女少。

[6] If moreover Saturn regards the Moon in the tropical degrees with one of the malefics, or a malefic regards her from square, it indicates that children will not be born to the men.

[6] 若土星又与某颗凶星一起照见处在回归度数的月亮，或有凶星从四分照见她，主男人生不出子女。

[7] If you find one of the malefics regarding the two lots I have mentioned to you from square, it indicates the destruction of his child.

[7] 若见有凶星从四分照见我说的这两个点，主他的子女夭亡。

[8] When you find the lot in the twelfth or the sixth and Saturn regards, it indicates the death of the child.

[8] 若见点在第十二或第六宫，而土星照见，主子女夭亡。

[9] If you find Jupiter in the IC or the angle of the seventh with a malefic, or a malefic in his opposition or his square, that is an indication of the death of his children; and worst of all is that Jupiter be without light.

[9] 若见木星在天底或第七宫之角而与凶星同在，或有凶星与他对冲、四分，这是子女夭亡的征象；最坏的是木星没有光。

[10] When the Sun is with Saturn in one sign, it indicates grief in the matter of childbirth.

[10] 太阳与土星同在一个星座，主在生育之事上悲伤。

[11] If Jupiter is cadent, it indicates the destruction of his parents [text uncertain].

[11] 若木星落在果宫，主他的父母亡故〔原文疑有讹误〕。

[12] When Saturn harms Venus without the regard of Jupiter, it indicates grief on account of children, or they have a child and do not rejoice in it, or none is born to them; and if one is born to him, grief and weeping befall him on account of the birth, especially if Saturn regards the Moon while regarding Venus.

[12] 若土星伤害金星而无木星相照，主为子女悲伤，或有子女却不能以之为乐，或生不出子女；即便生了，也会因生育而悲伤哭泣，尤其土星在照见金星的同时也照见月亮时。

[13] Now I shall explain to you the summary.

[13] 现在给你讲总纲。

[14] When in the nativities you find Jupiter and Mercury not afflicted, judge many children.

[14] 在命盘中若见木星与水星都不受克，就断子女多。

[15] If they are in their depression [text uncertain] or cadent, they do not indicate the coming of children; and if he has a child, it dies, and grief befalls its father.

[15] 若它们在落陷〔原文疑有讹误〕或果宫，就不主有子女；即便有子，也会夭亡，父亲为之悲伤。

[16] Look from the Midheaven in the matter of the native: who regards the Midheaven, where its lord is, the kind of the sign, where its witness is, and who follows the Midheaven; for this indicates males and females.

[16] 就此人的事从中天去看：谁照见中天，中天之主在哪里，星座的种类，它的见证星在哪里，谁紧随中天；这些表示男孩与女孩。

[17] Look at the fifth from the sign, which is the sign of children, and at its lord, in which place it is, whether it is a benefic or a malefic, and how its strength is in that nativity; for if it is cadent, and Jupiter and Venus do not regard the fifth place, and the malefics regard that place, it indicates few children, and if he has children, it indicates their short survival and the shortness of their lives.

[17] 看从星座起算的第五宫，即子女之宫，及其庙主，看它在什么位置，是吉星还是凶星，在这张盘里力量如何；因为若它落在果宫，木星与金星不照见第五宫，凶星却照见，主子女少；即便有子女，也主他们存活不久、寿命短。

[18] But if a single benefic regards that place, do not despair of the nativity altogether, for he will have some.

[18] 但若有一颗吉星照见那个位置，就不要对这张盘完全绝望，他还是会有一些。

[19] If a benefic regards the fifth place and its lord is in a good place regarding the Midheaven, this is a sign of many children and of their excellence.

[19] 若有吉星照见第五宫，其庙主又在好的位置并照见中天，这是子女多而优秀的征兆。
