[1] When a woman gives birth, if the child is male and you find the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant in masculine signs, the child is delivered safely at birth from what is feared for him, and his mother suffers neither toil nor hardship.
[2] If the child is female and you find the Sun and the Moon in feminine signs, and the Ascendant also a feminine sign, say likewise that her delivery is good and safe, and the birth proceeds smoothly and without harm.
For a female birth, however, the luminaries in masculine signs make a difficult birth, especially when they are in trine to each other in masculine signs; and for a male birth, if the luminaries are in trine to each other in feminine signs together with the Ascendant, they make a difficult birth, for this phase of the luminaries is called gibbous.
[3] If it is contrary to what I have said, it signifies hardship and destruction, especially if you find Saturn, the difficult and slow, in an angle in a feminine sign, for he is stronger in his power for evil and for difficulty of birth: the birth proceeds crooked and awkward, and he brings danger to women in labour.
