X. On Knowing What Signifies Whether the Native and His Mother Will Be Slaves or Free.

第十章　论识别此人及其母亲为奴还是自由人。

[1] If you want to know whether the native will be a slave or free, look first of all at the Moon.

[1] 若想知道此人为奴还是自由，先看月亮。

[2] If you find the Moon in the twelfth or the sixth, and the lord of the triplicity of that sign not in a good place, the native is a slave.

[2] 若见月亮在第十二或第六，而那个星座的三分主不在好的位置，此人为奴。

[3] If at the same time you find the first lord of the Moon's triplicity, or its partner, by night, or the first and second lords of the Sun's triplicity by day, in a good place, this signifies that the native was born of free parents, but that his parents are nevertheless ruined.

[3] 若同时见夜里月亮的第一三分主或其伙伴、白天太阳的第一与第二三分主在好的位置，表示此人生于自由人，但父母已经潦倒。

[4] If you find the Moon in the last degrees of the sign, his mother is of bad standing, unless Jupiter is with her.

[4] 若见月亮在星座的末几度，母亲门第不好，除非木星与她同在。

[5] If the sign is other than her bad sign, it loosens the hardship.

[5] 若那个星座不是她的凶座，就能解除艰难。

[6] If you find Venus with the Moon in her own house, it signifies the departure of the evil.

[6] 若见金星与月亮同在金星自己的庙，主凶祸离去。

[7] If you find a malefic in its angle, and Mars by day or Saturn by night regarding the Sun and the Moon without the regard of Jupiter, the native loses the repute of free men and becomes a servant.

[7] 若见有凶星在角，白天火星、夜里土星照见太阳与月亮，又没有木星照见，此人失去自由人的名分，成为仆役。

[8] It is worse if the Moon is in a feminine sign, and worse still if Venus is afflicted.

[8] 若月亮在阴性星座更糟，若金星受克则更坏。

[9] Look: if you find the Sun and Saturn in the sixth, the twelfth, the eighth, or the fourth, judge a bad condition for his father.

[9] 要看：若见太阳与土星在第六、第十二、第八或第四，判他父亲境况不好。

[10] If you find the Sun and the Moon in the terms of the benefics, and the lords of their houses regard them, judge a good condition for his parents, their long survival, and a good household.

[10] 若见太阳与月亮在吉星的界，它们的庙主又照见它们，判父母境况好、长寿、家道好。

[11] Best of all is that the Sun or the Moon be the lord of the Lot of Fortune, or be in an angle.

[11] 最好是太阳或月亮为福点之主，或在角。

[12] But if you find the Moon in an angle or in the place that follows an angle, with one of the malefics overcoming her, this harms him, even though he be free.

[12] 但若见月亮在角或紧随角的位置，而有一颗凶星压在她之上，即使他是自由人，这也对他有害。

[13] It is worse for his standing if a malefic is with the Moon and the other overcomes her.

[13] 若一颗凶星与月亮同宫，另一颗压在她之上，对他的门第更坏。

[14] Likewise, if the native is nocturnal and you find the Moon in the seventh or fourth sign with the regard of the malefics, judge poverty, slavery, and toil in his livelihood.

[14] 同样，若是夜生，而见月亮在第七或第四个星座，又被凶星照见，判他贫穷、为奴、生计辛劳。

[15] If you find the Lot of Fortune in the sixth or the twelfth, it is a sign of servitude.

[15] 若见福点在第六或第十二，是服役之征。

[16] If you find the lord of the Lot of Fortune in the sixth or the twelfth, not in its own terms, it signifies something similar.

[16] 若见福点之主在第六或第十二，又不在自己的界，主的也差不多。

[17] If the native is nocturnal and you find the Moon in a masculine sign while the Ascendant is feminine, or in a diurnal nativity the Sun in a feminine sign while the Ascendant is masculine, the native resembles slaves.

[17] 若是夜生，而见月亮在阳性星座、上升却是阴性；或昼生而太阳在阴性星座、上升却是阳性，此人像奴仆。

[18] You should look at the terms of the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant, and find out whether the lord of the terms is male or female (the female planets are Venus and the Moon, and the male Saturn, the Sun, Jupiter, and Mars) [corrected: Arabic has 'feminine'; MSS B, C margin].

[18] 要看太阳、月亮与上升所在的界，弄清界主是阳是阴（阴性行星是金星、月亮，阳性是土星、太阳、木星、火星）〔校改：阿拉伯文作「阴性」；据 B、C 抄本页边批注〕。

[19] If you find the Moon with the malefics and void of the benefics, it signifies slavery.

[19] 若见月亮与凶星同在，没有吉星，主为奴。

[20] If you find a malefic in an angle, or Mars regarding the Moon while the Moon applies to Saturn or is retrograde, it signifies that the native is a slave.

[20] 若见有凶星在角，或火星照见月亮，而月亮入相位于土星或逆行，主此人为奴。

[21] If you find the Moon at the end of the sign and Saturn or Mars regards her, it signifies that the native will perhaps be cast out, and perhaps his birth will be hard.

[21] 若见月亮在星座末尾，土星或火星照见她，主此人或许被遗弃，或许难产。

[22] If Jupiter or Venus also regards the Moon, he is born and then reared in the home of strangers.

[22] 若同时有木星或金星照见月亮，他生下来后在外人家里长大。

[23] If you find the lord of the triplicity of the Ascendant cadent, the Moon in opposition to a malefic, and the Sun in a bad place, the native's parents are slaves.

[23] 若见上升三分主落在果宫，月亮与凶星对冲，太阳在坏的位置，此人的父母是奴隶。

[24] I direct you, for one born at a conjunction, to look at the degree of the conjunction and learn the lord of the triplicity of that sign; and for one whose birth was at a full moon, to learn the lord of the triplicity of the sign in which the full moon was.

[24] 我教你：生在合朔的人，看合朔的度数，找出那个星座的三分主；生在望月的人，找出望月所在星座的三分主。

[25] Then look at which planets regard these two signs.

[25] 再看哪些行星照见这两个星座。

[26] If you find the first lord of the triplicity in a bad place and the second in a good place, such people go out of slavery into freedom.

[26] 若见第一三分主在坏的位置，第二三分主在好的位置，这些人会脱离奴役、获得自由。

[27] If you find the first lord of the triplicity in a good place and the second in a bad place, say that in his early years he is free, and at the end of his life poverty, contempt, and servitude come upon him.

[27] 若见第一三分主在好的位置，第二三分主在坏的位置，就说他早年自由，晚年遭受贫穷、轻贱与服役。

[28] The bad places are the sixth, the twelfth, the eighth, and the third, except that the Moon rejoices in being in the third.

[28] 坏的位置是第六、第十二、第八与第三，只是月亮喜欢落在第三。

[29] If you find the first or second lords of the triplicities of the conjunction and the full moon in a bad place, whoever is born so does not cease, from the beginning of his life to its end, to be a slave or a servant.

[29] 若见合朔与望月的第一或第二三分主在坏的位置，这样出生的人从生命之初到终了，始终是奴隶或仆役。

[30] If both of them are in a good place, he is free from the beginning of his life to its end.

[30] 若两者都在好的位置，他从生到死都是自由人。

[31] If you find a malefic in the sign of the conjunction or the full moon, and another malefic regards it, it tells of his doom and the misfortune of his household [text uncertain].

[31] 若见合朔或望月的星座里有一颗凶星，又有另一颗凶星照见它，预示他的厄运与家业的不幸〔原文疑有讹误〕。

[32] If you find the lord of the terms of that degree in which the conjunction or the full moon was in a bad place, or in the seventh or the fourth sign from the Ascendant, it signifies slavery and poverty.

[32] 若见合朔或望月所在度数的界主在坏的位置，或在上升起算第七、第四个星座，主为奴与贫穷。

[33] But if a benefic regards it and the lord of those terms is in a good place, while the conjunction or the full moon is in a bad place and the malefics regard it, the native's father is of good standing and his mother of bad standing.

[33] 但若有吉星照见它，那个界主在好的位置，而合朔或望月在坏的位置、又被凶星照见，此人的父亲门第好，母亲门第不好。

[34] If in the nativity of slaves you find Jupiter in an angle, in whatever sign it may be except Capricorn, whether you find him with malefics or with benefics, it signifies his manumission and his escape from slavery.

[34] 若在奴隶的诞生盘里见木星在角，不论在哪个星座——摩羯除外——也不论与凶星还是吉星同在，都主他得释放、脱离奴役。

[35] If Jupiter regards the Moon from wherever he may regard her, or is unharmed toward her, he dissolves all the toil of slavery.

[35] 若木星不论从哪里照见月亮，或对她无损，就能解除奴役的一切劳苦。

[36] If Venus is in an angle in the nativity of slaves without the regard of the malefics, that is a sign of manumission.

[36] 若奴隶的诞生盘里金星在角，又没有凶星照见，那是得释放之征。

[37] If you also find Venus with the Moon in the seventh, infer his escape from slavery.

[37] 若见金星与月亮同在第七，也可推断他脱离奴役。

[38] If you find the Sun, Mercury, and the Moon in the angles, or the Sun and the Moon in a single triplicity, they signify manumission.

[38] 若见太阳、水星与月亮都在角，或太阳与月亮在同一个三方，主得释放。

[39] If you find the Moon in Taurus or in Cancer, when these are angles, without the regard of the malefics, or with the regard of malefics and benefics together, he is freed from slavery.

[39] 若见月亮在金牛或巨蟹，而这两个星座正落在角，没有凶星照见，或凶星吉星同时照见，他能从奴役中解脱。

[40] One who is born with Jupiter with the Lot of Fortune, or in square to it, is rid of the misery of slavery.

[40] 出生时木星与福点同在，或与福点成四分的人，能摆脱奴役之苦。

[41] But if Jupiter regards the Lot of Fortune and both are in a bad place, it signifies that he will be freed but will not escape a servitude that resembles slavery.

[41] 但若木星照见福点，而两者都在坏的位置，主他能获释，却逃不掉近似奴役的服役。

[42] One who is born with Jupiter in the eighth sign from the Ascendant or the second, it signifies something resembling slavery.

[42] 出生时木星在上升起算第八或第二个星座，主近似奴役的处境。

[43] If he is in the sixth or the twelfth, it is worse and viler.

[43] 若在第六或第十二，就更坏、更不堪。
