XXXVIII. Chapter: For One Who Wants to Vomit, or to Drink a Purgative Drug, and Other Treatments by Which One Is Made Well through Vomiting or Purging.
[1] If someone wants to vomit after surfeit, or to take snuff, or other treatments used for the upper part of the head that he wants to press out, begin that when the Moon is in Aries or in Taurus and the Moon is decreasing; for these two signs are elevated and are called the side of ascent, and on the ascending sign it flows upward; the best is when the benefics regard the Moon.
[2] If you want to begin drinking a purgative drug, or something that loosens the belly, or a clyster, or drinking other loosening drugs, the best time to begin is when the Moon is in Libra or Scorpio; for this place presses down and is called the side of descent; and it is best when the benefics regard the Moon, for then the benefit is greater.
