X. An Example of the Aforesaid Methods.

We shall also present nativities for the sake of example, so that the theory may appear easy to survey for those who engage with it. For example, the Sun, the Moon, Venus, Mercury, and the Ascendant in Scorpio, Saturn in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Capricorn, Mars in Leo. In the 20th year there is the transmission of Jupiter in Capricorn to Mars in Leo, the one by 8; Jupiter, then, has transmitted to Mars from the 3rd to the 10th sign, that is the Midheaven. There was a petition to the king concerning rank, and he did not obtain it; for Jupiter is harsh when transmitting to Mars. The division by 4 is also strong, that is from Mars to the Sun, the Moon, the Ascendant, Mercury, and Venus; he fell ill, then, in the 20th year, and having fallen from a four-footed animal he was dragged along, so that he very nearly lost his sight; there was also blame, an attack, and loss on account of a female person, so that each of the planets brought about its own effect, having received from the malefics. In the 23rd year Jupiter, transmitting from the royal place (for the third and the ninth place from the Ascendant signify god and the king) to the luminaries, Venus, the Ascendant, and Mercury, granted as a gift a seat on a council with authority. It is not possible, then, for a man to accomplish anything, even if he has acquired the friendships of kings and greater persons, when the periods work against him.

Another. The Sun in Taurus, the Moon and Mercury in Aries, Saturn in Pisces, Jupiter and Mars in Aquarius, Venus in Gemini, the Ascendant in Virgo. In the 42nd year he inherited from a female person; for there was the transmission by 6 from the Moon and Mercury, being in the place of death in Aries, to Virgo, the house of Mercury, and from a sign of exaltation to a sign of exaltation. In the 45th year he held a notable office on account of public affairs; for Venus from the Midheaven transmitted to Mars, who signifies what is troublesome, and to Jupiter, who signifies what belongs to rank. There was also the releasing from the Ascendant to the Sun, whence he also became known to the king at that time. In the same year he also freed concubines, because Jupiter, being in the place of slaves, had received from Venus. In the 46th year he had troubles and reversals of affairs concerning melted goods [text uncertain], disturbances on account of female persons, and the death of two concubines; for the transmission was from Venus to Saturn in the marriage-making place, and from the Sun to Mars and Jupiter. From the disturbances, however, he found rest.

Another. The Sun in Taurus, the Moon, Venus, and the Ascendant in Aries, Saturn in Capricorn, Jupiter in Virgo, Mars in Scorpio, Mercury in Gemini. In the 51st year he went abroad and, coming before the king, won a lawsuit on behalf of a friend concerning a high priesthood; for the transmission was from the Moon, Venus, and the Ascendant to Mercury, who was in the place of god and the king. In the same year there was also the death of a child; for Mars from the place of death transmitted to Saturn, who was in the place of children.

Another. The Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, the Moon and Mars in Sagittarius, Saturn in Capricorn, Jupiter in Aquarius, Venus in Virgo, the Ascendant in Taurus. The son of this aforesaid chart was indicated as for a comparison, and from this choice in the 22nd year it comes upon the father [text uncertain]. For Jupiter made the transmission to the Sun, who signifies the father, and the transmission from Mars, being in the place of death, to Venus was the cause of the death.

Another. The Sun, Mars, and Venus in Leo, the Moon in Aquarius, Saturn in Aries, Jupiter in Pisces, Mercury in Cancer, the Ascendant in Virgo. In the 24th year he was benefited by matters of the dead and by friends; in the 26th year, marriage and benefit from a wife; in the 29th year, on account of the death of another man's slave and a charge of poisoning, he had troubles and disturbances; for Saturn made the transmission to the Sun, Mars, and Venus, who were in the place of slaves; but he obtained help through the friendship of greater persons, both male and female. In the 31st year he went abroad, and in the foreign land he lived pleasantly and profitably at first, but afterwards, having seduced a slave-girl, he had jealousies and disturbances; for the transmission was from the Sun, Venus, and Mars, who were in the place of slaves, to the Moon, and from the Ascendant to Jupiter, the marriage-maker. In the 33rd year he was condemned for having cast out a slave from an island, but in the condemnation he met with clemency because of the transmission from Mercury to Jupiter. The detention, however, was made evident from the Moon's sextile position toward Saturn, as we showed in what preceded, while the period from Mars and the Sun, coming into the place of accusation, that is to Saturn, brought about the condemnation. In the 45th year, through the zeal of greater persons, he was released as one causing injury; for the transmission both of the first period and of this one was blended from benefics and malefics. Besides, the malefics, being under the Sun's ray, had become subtractive and dimmer, and had fallen into weaker places.

Hence one must examine the transmissions of all the planets, whether those of the malefics predominate or those of the benefics, or whether they are mixed, and so make one's declaration. We have shown these things, then, in the instructions; but so that we may not seem to talk at length, we shall set out only the headings of the effects, and those who engage with them will grasp the places and the causes from what has been shown before or from what is to come.

因此必须审视所有行星的交付，看是凶星的占上风，还是吉星的，或是混合的，然后作出宣告。这些我们在训示中已经说明了；但为了不显得长篇大论，我们只列出效验的要目，与之打交道的人会从前面所示或后面将要说的，把握位置与原因。

Another. The Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Libra, Saturn in Aquarius, Jupiter and the Ascendant in Sagittarius, Mars in Virgo, the Moon in Leo. In the 47th year he inherited from a friend, and in the same year he was separated from his wife because of jealousy and blame.

Another. The Sun and Mars in Taurus, the Moon and the Ascendant in Aries, Saturn in Leo, Jupiter in Cancer, Venus in Pisces, Mercury in Gemini. In the 4th year there was the death of the father.

Another. The Sun, Mercury, and Saturn in Sagittarius, the Moon in Pisces, Mars in Leo, Venus in Capricorn, the Ascendant and Jupiter in Taurus. In the 45th year, the birth of twin children that came to nothing, and in the same year also a high priesthood; in the 51st a notable office; in the 52nd year the death of a child.

Another. The Sun and Venus in Taurus, the Moon in Aries, Saturn in Cancer, Jupiter and Mars in Virgo, Mercury in Gemini, the Ascendant in Sagittarius. In the 36th year he had lawsuits and troubles on behalf of his wife, and enmities of friends.

Another. The Sun and Venus in Aquarius, the Moon and Jupiter in Sagittarius, Saturn in Leo, Mercury in Capricorn, Mars and the Ascendant in Libra. In the 35th year he was in danger of being detained on account of sedition and violence; for the Moon too had a sextile configuration toward Mars, and Mars himself had received the year from her and had transmitted it to Saturn. These counter-transmissions, then, are harsh and troubling; but Jupiter was strong, being with the Moon and having received the same year from the Sun and Venus, who were in the place of friendship; and he, being in the place of foreign lands, brought about a journey abroad that was voluntary but fearful, together with help and introductions from friends.

Another. The Sun, Mars, and Mercury in Scorpio, Saturn in Aries, the Moon in Virgo, Jupiter in Taurus, Venus in Libra, the Ascendant in Sagittarius. In the 42nd year, disturbances and instability on account of a woman, and the outcry of crowds; in the 44th, the violent death of a slave, a climacteric of the father, and an accusation concerning his family as being without rank, and concerning violence; but he obtained help and a gift from friends. He was also troubled in the matter of writings, experienced loss, attack, and false accusation, was grieved by treacheries, and was troubled in body. Each transmission, then, brings about its own effect, and likewise each place too.

Another. The Sun and Jupiter in Capricorn, the Moon and Saturn in Leo, Mars in Pisces, Venus and the Ascendant in Scorpio, Mercury in Sagittarius. The places of accusation were found in Pisces and in Scorpio: in Scorpio Venus, in Pisces Mars. Being a dancer, in the 25th year he came into detention on account of a riot of the crowds, and having made his defence before the governor, he was released through the help of friends and the entreaty of the crowds and became more famous. For the transmission of the year was from Saturn and the Moon to Mars and the place of accusation, and from Jupiter and the Sun, who were in the place of authority, to Saturn and the Moon, who were in the Midheaven and the place of action; and besides, according to the choice by 8 and by 4, it signifies from Saturn and the Moon to Venus and the Ascendant, so that the riot, the rivalry, and the jealousy came about on account of his profession, and from Mercury by 4 to Mars and the place of accusation. All the planets, then, were productive in the 25th year: the nativity was in fear of the overthrow of reputation, of condemnation, and of danger to life. But since Venus was found in the Ascendant and in the place of accusation, and Jupiter with the Sun, he had a release that made a fine show, and he prospered in his profession; for the Lot of Fortune was in Aries, and the lord of the exaltation, the Sun, was found at the nativity to be in the Midheaven relative to the Lot, and Mars relative to the Daemon. Afterwards, in the 32nd year, he was cast down from honour, rank, and livelihood and lived without honour, because the Lot happened to be in a cadent place, and Saturn, in the Midheaven contrary to sect, opposed the place of acquisition, Aquarius, his own house; hence he himself was also partly the cause of his overthrow, having become insolent and boastful; for the lord of the Daemon and of the place of the intellect, Mercury, opposed himself, that is Gemini.

Another. The Sun and the Moon in Cancer, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars in Aries, Venus, Mercury, and the Ascendant in Gemini. In the 20th year both his parents were killed at a festival in an attack of robbers; there was also the transmission from the Ascendant into the place of death; but the one by 4 from Saturn and Mars to the Sun and the Moon, who happened to be in the place of death and who signify the father and the mother, was more productive. He himself, however, being in the disturbance, escaped the danger, so that the transmission of Jupiter was also strong in the same year.

另一个。太阳与月亮在巨蟹，土星、木星与火星在白羊，金星、水星与上升点在双子。在第二十年，他的父母在一个节日里遭强盗袭击，双双被杀；那时也有从上升点交给死亡之位的交付；但从土星与火星以四交给太阳与月亮的交付更得力，太阳与月亮恰在死亡之位，象征父亲与母亲。然而他自己身在那场扰乱之中，却逃过了危险，可见同一年木星的交付也有力。
