XVII. On the Lot of Fortune as Ascendant.

第十七章　论以福点为上升点。

Having set out the matter of the arrangement by triplicities, I shall pass once more to the Lot concerning prosperity and fortune, and to that of the Daemon. Before all else, then, one must establish the Lot of Fortune precisely and examine into what part of the cosmos it has fallen, whether on the angles, or the succedent places, or the cadent places; and seek out its lord likewise. For if, being diurnal, it is in the Ascendant, or happens to be in some other productive sign, receiving testimony from the Sun, the Moon, and the benefics, it will make the native brilliant, distinguished, and fortunate; on the remaining angles or in the succedent places it is more moderate; in the cadent places let it be understood as productive of downfall [text uncertain]; for these are places of contrary disposition, bringing accusations and overthrows. Moreover, having ascertained the allotted place of Fortune, examine its squares and the rest, just as on the angles of the nativity. For the Lot itself will hold the power of the Ascendant and of life, its tenth that of the Midheaven and of glory, its 7th that of the setting place, its 4th that of the IC; and the remaining places will hold the power of the twelve placements. For some posit, in mystic fashion, the general Ascendant and its squares as the cosmic angles, but the Lot and its squares as the genethlialogical angles. Hence in their treatises too they declare it beforehand, saying: "In configurations of other kinds, those that have obtained the dominion of the angles or of the Lot [lacuna] and indeed neither the tropical nor the solid nor the bicorporeal signs will always hold the same power." One must therefore also consider the testimonies or co-presences of the planets with regard to the Lot, so that if a benefic is upon it or testifies to it, it becomes indicative of good things and a giver of possessions; but if a destructive planet, it will be the cause of loss of possessions and of wasting of the body.

三方的排列已经讲过，我要再一次转到关于兴旺与好运的点，以及精灵点。所以首先必须精确地定出福点，查看它落在宇宙的哪一部分，是在四角、续宫还是果宫；同样也要找出它的主。因为若它是昼间的，在上升点，或恰好在其他某个得力的星座，又受太阳、月亮与吉星的见证，就会使本命者光彩、出众、幸运；在其余的角上或续宫，较为中等；在果宫，要理解为主跌落〔原文疑有讹误〕；因为这些是性质相反的位置，带来控告与倾覆。此外，确定了福点所分得的位置之后，要查看它的四分之处与其余各处，正如查看本命的四角一样。因为福点本身将具有上升点与生命的力量，它的第十位具有中天与荣耀的力量，它的第七位具有下降之位的力量，它的第四位具有天底的力量；其余各位也将具有十二位置的力量。因为有些人以神秘的方式，把总的上升点及其四分之处定为宇宙的四角，而把福点及其四分之处定为本命的四角。所以在他们的论著里也预先宣示说：“在别种格局中，那些分得四角或福点之主权的〔此处原文有缺〕，而且回归星座、固定星座、双体星座都不会总是具有同样的力量。”所以也必须考虑诸星对福点的见证或同在，这样，若有吉星在其上或为它作见证，它就预示好事、赐予财产；若是毁坏之星，它就成为失去财产与身体消瘦的原因。

XVIII. On the Exaltation of the Sun and the Moon with Regard to Prosperity.

第十八章　论太阳与月亮的旺与兴旺。

We ourselves have also found from experience a certain mystic place: take, by day, from the Sun of the nativity to Aries, which is his exaltation, and by night from the Moon to Taurus, and count the equal amount from the Ascendant; wherever the count ends, examine both the place and its lord. For if it is found in the Ascendant or at the Midheaven, and above all if it is also on an angle of the Lot, the configuration foretells a royal nativity, provided the remaining planets and sects show the substance of the nativity to be great. Otherwise, when the nativity is glorious and the exaltation or its ruler is well placed, the native will be exalted from a command, or a civic or royal office, or some other glorious position of trust. If, when the substance is moderate, the lord of the exaltation or the place is well placed, the native will prosper in that field in which he happens to be active, whether a craft, a science, or a pursuit. The ruler itself and the sign will foretell the kind of good fortune, from its own nature or from that of the sign it is in; for often some, having done other things in earlier periods, suffered ill, and fallen out of favour, later prospered through other affairs.

我们自己也凭经验找到了一个神秘的位置：白天，取从本命太阳到他的旺宫白羊的距离；夜里，取从月亮到金牛的距离；再从上升点数出相等的数量；数到哪里止，就查看那个位置与它的主。因为若它落在上升点或中天，尤其若又在福点的某个角上，这个格局就预示王者之命，只要其余的行星与昼夜之分显示本命的根基是大的。否则，当本命荣耀，而这个旺点或它的主星位置良好时，本命者会因统领之职、民政或王室的官职，或其他某种荣耀的受托之位而得以高升。若根基中等，而旺点之主或旺点本身位置良好，本命者会在他恰好从事的那个领域里兴旺，无论是一门手艺、一门学问还是一项事业。主星本身与那个星座会预示好运的种类，由它自己的本性，或由它所在星座的本性而定；因为常常有些人在早年做别的事，受了苦、失了势，后来却借着别的事务而兴旺。

XIX. On the Lot of Fortune and the Daemon with Regard to Prosperity and the Turning Away of Undertakings.

第十九章　论福点与精灵点关乎兴旺与事业的转向。

Hence the Lot of Fortune and the Daemon will hold great power over the undertakings of affairs and their changes; for Fortune indicates matters of the body and crafts done by hand, while the Daemon and its lord indicate matters of the soul and the intellect, and dealings through speech, giving, and receiving. One must therefore look at the places and their rulers, in what signs they are, and fit their natures to the account of action and fortune and to the kind of action. Nativities will be understood as brilliant, illustrious, and active by virtue of the Sun and the Moon, when the benefics are upon or incline toward the places or their rulers; moderate, inglorious, ruinous, and adverse are those that come about from Saturn and Mars. It is better, then, also to find the lord of the Daemon upon the Lot of Fortune or in its tenth, which is the Midheaven; for in this way too brilliant and distinguished nativities come about. If it is in its own place, or otherwise angular, natives will be active and glorious to some degree. If it is turned away from its own place, or otherwise cadent while receiving testimony from malefics, it signifies exiles and people disgraced in foreign lands. And if it is together with a benefic or receives testimony from benefics, natives will spend most of their time abroad, living their lives in varied and uneven fashion; if with a malefic, having experienced accusation and detention, they will become needy and live wretchedly. Likewise, if [probably: Saturn or Mars] [lacuna] opposes the [probably: ninth] place, it foretells people who sojourn abroad and fall into troubles. Often such people are not inherited from by their own family, but by strangers.

所以福点与精灵点对事业的开端与转变将有很大的力量；因为福点显示身体之事与手工所做的技艺，而精灵点及其主显示灵魂与心智之事，以及凭言辞、给予与收受而进行的事务。所以必须看这两个位置与它们的主星，在什么样的星座，并把它们的本性配合到事业与好运之论、以及事业的种类上。本命被理解为光彩、显赫而有作为，是由于太阳与月亮，而吉星在这两个位置或它们的主星之上，或倾向于它们；中等、默默无闻、主倾覆而相悖的本命，则由土星与火星而来。所以最好也发现精灵点之主在福点上，或在福点的第十位，也就是中天；因为这样也会成为光彩而出众的本命。若它在自己的位置，或以别的方式居角，本命者在某种程度上会有作为、有荣耀。若它与自己的位置背离，或以别的方式在果宫而受凶星的见证，就预示流亡者与在异乡蒙羞的人。若它与吉星同在或受吉星的见证，本命者会在异乡度过大部分时间，生活多变而起伏；若与凶星同在，会经历控告与拘禁，变得贫乏、生活悲惨。同样，若〔或当作「土星或火星」〕〔此处原文有缺〕对冲这个位置〔或当作「第九位」〕，预示在异乡居留、陷入纷扰的人。这样的人常常不由自家人继承，而由外人继承。

XX. On the 11th Place from Fortune with Regard to Prosperity.

第二十章　论福点起的第十一位关乎兴旺。

We have also found the 11th place from Fortune to be acquisitive, a giver of possessions and good things, especially when benefics are upon it or testify to it. For the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus provide gold, silver, ornament, and very great substance, and gifts from greater persons and from kings, and they make natives willing spenders upon crowds and benefactors of many. The Moon and Mercury bring increase and decrease of livelihood and reversals, making natives at times generous to others and ready to share, at times needy or entangled in loans, because the Moon has increase and decrease of light, and Mercury is common to good and to evil. Mars takes away what is given or acquired, bringing about diminutions, robberies, conflagrations, lawsuits, making natives spend on public or royal affairs, or become their own masters and be accused, unless the nativity happens to be military or glorious; for in that case, from such a starting point and from violent or dangerous affairs and from theft, they will come into acquisition, provided the planet is suitably placed; yet even so he will accomplish this with fear and will bring diminution. Saturn, suitably configured, makes natives masters of foundations and possessions; unsuitably, or contrary to his sect, he brings about downfalls, deprivations, shipwrecks, want, and debts.

我们也发现福点起的第十一位是主获取的，是财产与好事的赐予者，尤其当吉星在其上或为它作见证时。因为太阳、木星与金星提供黄金、白银、饰物与极多的资产，以及来自大人物与君王的馈赠，使本命者乐于为群众花费，成为许多人的恩主。月亮与水星带来生计的增减与起伏，使本命者时而对别人慷慨、乐于分享，时而贫乏或陷入借贷，因为月亮的光有增有减，而水星对好坏是共通的。火星夺走所给予或所获得的，造成减损、抢劫、火灾、诉讼，使本命者把钱花在公共或王室的事务上，或自作主张而遭控告，除非本命恰好是军旅的或荣耀的；因为在那种情形下，本命者会从这样的起点、从暴烈或危险之事、从窃取之中获得财物，只要这颗星位置相宜；但即使如此，他也是在恐惧中办成，并会带来减损。土星格局相宜，使本命者成为产业根基与财产的主人；不相宜，或与昼夜之分相反，就造成跌落、剥夺、船难、匮乏与债务。

Saturn with Mercury and Mars: natives abused through some attacks of lawsuits, and on account of criminal or secret and violent affairs. Saturn, Mercury, Mars, Venus: natives wronged through poisonings or by female persons, and falling under accusations. Saturn, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, the Moon: natives benefited by the dead, and acquiring through ship-owning and sojourns abroad or watery affairs.

土星与水星、火星：本命者因诉讼的某些攻击，以及因犯罪的、隐秘的、暴烈的事务而受辱。土星、水星、火星、金星：本命者因下毒或因女性之人而受害，陷入控告。土星、火星、水星、金星、木星、月亮：本命者得死者之益，借船运、客居异乡或与水有关的事务而获取。

In general, then, Saturn and Mars, when at the Midheaven of the Lot or succedent to it, and being lords of the acquisitive place, indicate downfall. One must therefore look ahead at the natures of each planet and make pronouncements according to its own combination and affinity with each. Not only will the planets present in the acquisitive place indicate the foregoing, but the sign itself will also act, in keeping both with the nature of the planet and with its own.

所以，总的说来，土星与火星在福点的中天或其续位，又是获取之位之主时，预示跌落。所以必须预先看每颗行星的本性，按它与每一处的组合与亲和作出论断。不仅在获取之位的行星会预示上述之事，星座本身也会起作用，既按行星的本性，也按它自己的本性。
