IX. On Knowing the Number of Children.

第九章　论子女的数目。

[1] Compute the number of children as I shall tell you.

[1] 照我告诉你的方法计算子女的数目。

[2] Look at the lords of Jupiter's triplicity, which of them is stronger and better placed; if it is above the earth, count from it until you reach the Ascendant; the number of signs between them is the number of children.

[2] 看木星的三分主哪颗更有力、位置更好；若它在地上，就从它数到上升；两者之间有几个星座，就有几个子女。

[3] If Jupiter and Venus are among these, they indicate an increase over that number, and whatever other planets are there besides also increase it.

[3] 若木星和金星在其间，主比这个数目还多；其间若另有别的行星，也会增加。

[4] If among the signs I have mentioned you find a bicorporeal sign, double it.

[4] 若在我说的这些星座中见到双体星座，就加倍计算。

[5] If you find Mars or Saturn among them, it indicates the death of the child, especially if Mars and Saturn are in a bad place.

[5] 若见火星或土星在其间，主子女夭亡，尤其火星、土星又在坏的位置时。

[6] But if they are in a good place, they indicate an increase of children, except that the child is miscarried, especially if the sign in which the malefic is is the angle of the Descendant or the IC.

[6] 但若它们在好的位置，主子女增多，只是会有小产，尤其凶星所在的星座是下降之角或天底时。

[7] If you find the lord of Jupiter's triplicity, which is the indicator of the matter of children, in the Midheaven, tell him that he will have four children or one; if it is in the angle of the Descendant, say seven or one, especially if the angle of the Descendant is Aries.

[7] 若见木星的三分主，即子女之事的征象星，在中天，就告诉他会有四个子女或一个；若在下降之角，就说七个或一个，尤其下降之角是白羊时。

[8] If you find the lord of Jupiter's triplicity cadent from the angle of the Midheaven or the IC, count from the Ascendant to it; the number of signs between them is the number of children he will have.

[8] 若见木星的三分主从中天之角或天底落下，就从上升数到它；两者之间有几个星座，他就有几个子女。

[9] The rest of the examination is as I have told you.

[10] When the lords of Jupiter's triplicity are in signs of many children, say that the number of children is greater than I have mentioned; their number will also become clear to you from the chapter on brothers.

[10] 若木星的三分主在多子的星座，就说子女比我说的还多；子女的数目也可以从兄弟一章看出。

[11] If you find the Moon and Venus in Capricorn and Cancer and their triplicities, look which of them is better placed, and let that strong one be the indicator of children.

[11] 若见月亮与金星在摩羯、巨蟹及其三分星座，看哪颗位置更好，就以那颗有力的为子女的征象星。

[12] If they are in other than these triplicities, let your examination be from the lords of Jupiter's triplicity.

[12] 若它们不在这些三分星座，就从木星的三分主来看。

[13] If you find the indicator of the matter of children in the Ascendant, the Midheaven, or the sign of fortune, he will be granted a child in his youth.

[13] 若见子女之事的征象星在上升、中天或福分之宫，他年轻时就会得子。

[14] If it is in the second from the Ascendant, or the sign of marriage, or the eighth sign, or the IC, children will be born to the native only in the middle and the end of his years.

[14] 若在上升起第二宫，或婚姻之宫，或第八宫，或天底，此人要到中年和晚年才会生子。

[15] If you find the indicator of children, Jupiter, in a good place but under the beams of the Sun, he will have children, and they will not live.

[15] 若见子女的征象星木星在好的位置，却在太阳光束之下，他会有子女，但活不下来。
