The all-seeing Sun, being fiery and an intellectual light, the instrument of the soul's perception, signifies in a nativity kingship, leadership, mind, intelligence, form, motion, height of fortune, oracular responses from the gods, judgment, public reputation, action, leadership of the crowd, the father, the master, friendship, distinguished persons, honors of images, statues, and crowns, high priesthoods of the homeland, [lacuna] of places. Of the parts of the body it rules the head and the organs of sense, the right eye, the sides, the heart, the motion of the breath, that is, of perception, and the sinews; of materials, gold; of crops, wheat and barley. It is of the diurnal sect, wine-colored in color, sharp in taste.

The Moon, which comes into being from the reflection of the Sun's light and possesses a borrowed light, signifies for men in a nativity life, the body, the mother, conception, form, the face, sight, living together, that is, lawful marriage, the nurse, the elder brother, keeping the house, the queen, the mistress, possessions, fortune, the city, gatherings of crowds, gains, expenses, the dwelling, ships, sojourns abroad, wanderings; for she does not grant straight courses, on account of Cancer. Of the parts of the body she rules the left eye, the stomach, the breasts, the breath, the spleen, the membranes, the marrow, whence she also produces dropsical people; of materials, silver and glass. She is of the nocturnal sect, green in color, salty in taste.

Saturn makes those born under him petty, envious, full of cares, self-abasing, solitary, deluded, concealing their deceitfulness, austere, downcast, with a feigned look, squalid, dressed in black, given to begging, gloomy, enduring hardship, dissembling, engaged in work about water. He also brings about humiliations, sluggishness, idleness, hindrances in one's undertakings, long-drawn lawsuits, the overturning of affairs, concealments, confinements, chains, griefs, accusations, tears, bereavements, captivities, exposures of children. He makes tillers of the soil and farmers, because he rules the earth; he produces lessees of estates and tax-collectors and forcible exactions; he procures great reputations, distinguished ranks, and guardianships, and makes managers of other people's property and fathers of other people's children. Of materials he rules lead, wood, and stones; of the limbs of the body he rules the legs, knees, sinews, serous fluids, phlegm, bladder, kidneys, and the hidden inner parts. He indicates the injuries that arise from cold and moisture, such as dropsy, pains of the sinews, gout, cough, dysentery, hernias, convulsions, and among afflictions, possession by daemons, effeminacy, and uncleanness. He also makes people unmarried and brings widowhood, bereavement, and childlessness. He brings about violent deaths in water, or by hanging, or in chains, or by dysentery. He also causes falls on the face. He is the star of Nemesis and of the diurnal sect, beaver-brown in color, astringent in taste.

Jupiter signifies the begetting of children, offspring, desire, loves, introductions, acquaintances, friendships with great men, prosperity, salaries, great gifts, abundance of crops, justice, offices, civic posts, honors, presidencies of temples, arbitrations of disputes, trusts, inheritances, brotherhood, partnership, adoption, confirmation of good things, release from evils, loosing from bonds, freedom, deposits, money, stewardships. Of the limbs of the body he rules, among the outer parts, the thighs and the feet, whence he also grants running in athletic contests; among the inner parts, the seed, the womb, the liver, and the parts on the right side. Of materials he rules tin. He is of the diurnal sect, grey and rather white in color, sweet in taste.

木星主生育子女、后嗣、欲求、爱恋、引荐、相识、与大人物的友谊、富足、俸给、厚礼、作物丰收、正义、官职、公民职位、荣誉、神庙的主持、纠纷的仲裁、信托、遗产、兄弟情谊、合伙、收养、好事的巩固、恶事的解脱、从束缚中解放、自由、寄存之物、钱财、管家之职。在身体肢体中，外部他主管大腿与双脚，因此他也赐人在竞技中善跑；内部主管精液、子宫、肝脏与右侧各部。在材料中他主管锡。他属昼方，颜色灰而偏白，味道甜。

Mars signifies acts of violence, wars, robberies, outcries, outrages, adulteries, loss of possessions, downfalls, exiles, estrangement from parents, captivities, miscarriages of women, embryotomies, liaisons, marriages, loss of good things, lies, empty hopes, violent thefts, brigandage, plundering, quarrels between friends, anger, fighting, abuse, enmities, lawsuits. He also brings violent murders, cuttings and bleedings, attacks of fever, ulcerations, eruptions, burnings, chains, tortures, masculinity, perjury, wandering, embassies on evil errands, and people who work by means of fire or iron, handicraftsmen, and hard laborers. He also makes military commands and commanders in war, men-at-arms, governorships, hunting, the chase, falls from heights or from four-footed beasts, dimness of sight, and apoplexies. Of the parts of the body he rules the head, the seat, and the genitals; of the inner parts, the blood, the seminal ducts, the bile, the evacuation of excrement, the hinder parts, falling backward, and lying on the back. He also has what is harsh and abrupt. Of materials he rules iron, and the adornment of clothing on account of Aries, and wine and pulses. He is of the nocturnal sect, red in color, bitter in taste.

Venus is desire and love, and she signifies the mother and the nurse. She brings about priesthoods, gymnasiarchies, the wearing of gold, the wearing of crowns, good cheer, friendships, companionship, acquisitions of property, purchases of ornaments, agreements for the good, marriages, clean crafts, a fine voice, the making of music, sweet melody, beauty of form, painting, the mixing of colors and embroidery, purple-dyeing and perfume-making, and the inventors or also the masters of these, and crafts or trading occupations in emerald and precious stones, and ivory-working. Some she makes gold-spinners, gold-adorners, barbers, lovers of cleanliness and lovers of play, when she is in the terms and degrees of her own signs. She also grants market-wardenships, measures, weights, trade, workshops, giving, receiving, laughter, cheerfulness, adornment, and catches from the waters. She also grants benefits from royal women or from women of one's own household, and procures exceptional honors, having lent her help through such matters. Of the limbs of the body she rules the neck, the face, the lips, the sense of smell, and the front parts from foot to head, the parts used in intercourse; of the inner parts, the lungs. She is also receptive of another's nourishment and of pleasure. Of materials she rules precious stones and varied ornament; of crops, the olive. She is of the nocturnal sect, white in color, very rich in taste.

Mercury signifies education, letters, argument, speech, brotherhood, interpretation, the office of herald, number, calculation, geometry, commerce, youth, games, theft, fellowship, messages, service, gain, discoveries, sequence, athletic contest, wrestling, voice training, sealing, writing letters, weighing, hanging, testing, hearing, and versatility. He is the giver of both understanding and intelligence, lord of brothers and of younger children, and the maker of every craft of the marketplace and of banking. In particular he makes temple-builders, modellers, sculptors of statues, physicians, grammarians, lawyers, orators, philosophers, architects, musicians, diviners, sacrificers, augurs, interpreters of dreams, plaiters, weavers, men of method, and those who preside over works of war or of generalship and who attempt marvellous and methodical feats by means of calculations or sophistries, strongmen or mime-singers, those who earn their living from public display; and further he signifies wandering, vagrancy, and instability. Some he makes skilled in heavenly things, or even investigators of them, who for the sake of profit win glory for their marvellous work through delight and good cheer. For this planet, having the power of great method, provides actions of different forms according to the changes of the signs or the combinations of the planets: to some he furnishes knowledge, to others retail trade, to some service, to others again commerce or teaching, to some also farming or temple-keeping or public offices, and on others again he confers authority, or leasing in advance, or contracting for works, or rhythmic display, or the superintendence of public services, or else the pomp of serving as bodyguard, or of the linen robes of the gods, or of potentates. He will make all men uneven in their fortunes and much distracted with regard to their ends; and those who have this planet in the signs or degrees of the malefics he will make to be turned still more toward the worse. Of the parts of the body he rules the hands, shoulders, fingers, joints, belly, hearing, windpipe, intestines, and tongue. Of materials he rules copper and all coinage, giving and receiving; for the god is common.

The benefics, then, when they are suitably and well placed, bring about their own effects in accordance with both their own nature and that of the sign, the testimony or co-presence of each planet being mixed in as well. But when they have fallen out of their places, they signify the opposite. Likewise the malefics too, when they are productive, suitably placed, and of the sect, are givers of good things and signify higher ranks and advancement; but when unproductive they bring about downfalls and accusations.

所以，吉星在位置适宜、位置良好时，按它们自己的性质以及星座的性质造成各自的效验，其中也混入每颗行星的见证或同在。但它们失位时，就主相反之事。同样，凶星在得力、位置适宜、又属于当令的一方时，也是好事的赐予者，主较高的职位与升迁；但不得力时，就造成失势与控告。

Now that these matters have been set out in this way, we must speak also of the nature of the twelve signs.

这些事既已如此陈述，我们也必须讲讲十二星座的性质。

Each planet is lord of its own substance with respect to the cosmos, with a view to sympathy, antipathy, and mutual affection, in their mixtures with one another, when by application and separation and overcoming, or else by enclosure and spear-bearing and casting of rays and the bringing-to of the masters [text uncertain]: the Moon is lady of forethought, the Sun of radiance, Saturn of ignorance and necessity, Jupiter of glory, crowns, and eagerness, Mars of action and toil, Venus lady of love, desire, and beauty, Mercury of law, custom, and trust. These planets are the lords of their own effects [text uncertain].

每颗行星就宇宙而言，是它自己那份实质之主，关乎相感、相斥与相互的感应，在它们彼此的混合之中——无论是凭入相、离相与压制，还是凭包围、护卫、投射光线以及主人的带入〔原文疑有讹误〕：月亮是预见之女主，太阳是光辉之主，土星是无知与必然之主，木星是荣耀、冠冕与热忱之主，火星是行动与劳苦之主，金星是爱恋、欲求与美之女主，水星是法律、习俗与信约之主。这些行星是它们各自效验之主〔原文疑有讹误〕。
